Golden Nails

This nail salon was something out of a nightmare.
My mother and I walked in and the toxic fumes practically knocked us off our feet. The place was busy, but they told us to pick our color and sit down. There was a screaming child running back and forth unattended. We were left for several minutes at our chairs with no communication. The water was freezing, so my mom pointed it out to a woman that was walking by who proceeded to give her a death stare as she turned the hot water on for 10 seconds. The water went from freezing to not even room temperature. We looked at each other, dried off our feet and made our escape before the woman came back.
I clearly can’t comment on the quality of the salons manicures as we were too mortified to hang around, but I can say they we will never be back.

I went here with other bridesmaids the day before my friends wedding. They allowed you to bring champagne which was unique and very fun! However my nail tech asked be 7 Times if I wanted my regular pedi to be upgraded to a gel pedi. It was very frustrating that after one or two times she continued to ask. I felt as though they were trying to annoyingly up-​sell our group of 5 girls. I was not impressed and will not be going back.

I just moved to the area and was on the prowl for a salon. This place is super convenient and had good reviews, so I stopped in.
The place was fairly busy on a Friday afternoon. I was promptly sat in a pedicure chair, and within minutes Ann came to do my toes. She was sweet and did an extremely good job. I also really like that this place uses decent skincare products.

I’ve had 3 manicures here. I’ve yet to have a bad experience. Kim did my nails today and they look fabulous. A lot of times after a manicure, I go home disappointed with the results (I’m a little bit picky when it comes to my nails). Not the case here, I always receive an excellent manicure. It’s kinda far away for me, but it’s close to some fun lunch places so I’ll definitely be back.
Also, it is reasonably priced. My gel manicure was $ 30– the same as everywhere. I did see a lady come in with a $ 5 off coupon. I’ll have to check that out! Next time I’ll make sure to save time for a pedicure too. They had some good combo specials.

I have been here a few times and had no complaints but the last couple were not great, especially my visit last week. I came in to relax and get a pedicure. I upgraded to the spa pedi and was never rushed through one that fast before. When she did the leg massage it was so short I timed my second leg…48 seconds. I am not expecting it to go on forever but less than a minute when I paid extra for it??? Unexceptionable. Then she only put on one coat of polish. I have always had two coats, with one the color didn’t come out right and was uneven. It was bad enough that I went somewhere else to get another one to fix it. I am bummed out they have become in such a rush to get customers in and out and now I have to find another place.

I loved this place! I came in in desperate need of correction to a poor nail service I received at another salon the night before and Golden Nails was so accommodating and helpful! I believe they took pity on me due to the horrendous job the previous salon did, LOL. Not only did they do a fabulous job on my pink and white acrylic set, but they were professional, friendly, and courteous. They even gave me a DISCOUNT due to the poor job the OTHER salon performed! WOW! This will definitely be my go to salon from here on out. Thank you Golden Nails!

I i’ve been a frequent customer of golden nails for the past two years. Overall I have had a pretty good experience with the majority of the technicians. However ever since I have been seeing the nail tech named Vicki I have really enjoyed my gel nail manicures and pedicures. Vicky is extremely easy to communicate with and takes her time to soak my gel nails off the right way. Also she is very good at shaping your nails and making sure they look fabulous when you leave! I will not see anybody else! Iif you go to see her make sure to schedule an appointment as she only works Thursday through Sunday. I would highly recommend going to see Vicki she is awesome.

I do not recommend this place. It is very crowded. And they try to charge extra for «bottom» of feet which is suppose to be included in the pedicure. There is no room to even breath.

We love this place! The staff is nice and friendly, the manager is accommodating for large groups! We go in every 2 weeks for Gel Manicures and they are quick to help us. The atmosphere is clean and well kept!
And you have to love the wax!!!

I live in pine city, but work in Plymouth, I was recommended by a friend who go see Jackie and try pink and white nails. I was totally AMAZED how beautiful my nails turned out and how fast she did them. Not only that her English was great, she listen to what I like and did what I asked. I’m very pleased with her sevice and never have to wait to get in with her. For those who don’t know this place I recomend you to try and DO ask for JACKIE she guarantee her work. She’s always happy and friendly to all customers.

Staff here are friendly, but be careful of the constant up charges. I went to get a pedicure, but the specials were only good on weekdays, not weekends. Strike one. Then I wanted the full pedicure with scraping and all. Extra $ 5. Strike two. After picking some polish out, they constantly pushed me to do the gel polish. I will never do the gel polish and ruin my nails. I understand it sucks to get off and need to go back into them to remove it or have them fill it in for more money. Strike 3. Lastly, the nagging didn’t stop about needing to do my eyebrows, manicure with gel polish and designs…
Aside from all the nagging, if you can be assertive, you will get what you need for a reasonable fee. I also enjoyed the chair massage, foot massage and free drink. They offered a lot of pop options, water or tea. $ 40 later, my toes looked pretty for my date!
I would recommend this place for large groups as well. They had at least 8 pedicure chairs and 6 manicure tables.

I have been coming here for three years and after the 5^th bad experience I will not go back. I have been forgotten waiting, have had polish so thick it never dried, have had gel on so thick it looked terrible, and now after this last visit having gel removed they rushed me out so fast I will once again have to go home and fix my manicure myself. My nails look awful and it’s because she rushed to get to the next person. Very disappointed that I need to find a new spot. I don’t know what happened to the service here but 5 bad experiences in a row is enough.

I have gone to Golden Nails a few times. They always do a great job and the salon is very nice. I got a gel manicure and it was $ 30.
They dipped my hands in a warm wax which felt heavenly as it is so cold out! I am a fan!

I really like this nail salon. The first time I went I took my 11 year old sister and it was her first time getting a manicure and was a little nervous. They were so sweet with her and gentle, and even did a cute design for her at no charge. Last night I went back a half hour before they closed to get a full set of acrylic nails. Several people came in after me and the employees welcomed them and didn’t eve seem the slightest bit annoyed, even to the girl who came in right at closing time. My nails look awesome and not rushed and I will definitely be going back.

Here’s the thing about nail salons in populated areas: They’re everywhere. Don’t like one? Go 3 miles in a different direction and you’ll drive past three more. This is where Golden Nails excels at what they do. I don’t live anywhere near the nail salon anymore, but I can’t bring myself to go elsewhere.
Their Pink and White acrylic nails are the best around. Feeling adventurous? Ask for a rhinestone on your thumb nail and you’ll be out the door looking shiny in no time.
They have a large variety of colored acrylics (think: no colored polish), including the «seashell sparkly» acrylic which is very popular with the younger crowd.
Their eyebrow, chin and lip waxing is fantastic. Ladies (and Gents), if you want the best shape for your brows, head to GN. Their waxing is fantastic, and the women who do it are great at listening to your requests. They will also try their hardest to shape an arch if you request it.
The pedicures are good, but I feel that way about all pedicures. I always do gel polish (quick dry, no chip) on my toes now, because Minnesota winters make it impossible to ever really be 100% sure your boots don’t ruin your new pedi. Unless you want to read «Moby Dick» twice over while waiting under a fan for your toe nails to dry. To each their own.
This salon is popular, so it is also busy. Friday at 5:00pm? Really? You and the rest of Golden Valley had the same idea. My favorite times to go are Weekdays at 10:00am or 3:30pm (slow), or Weekends at Open, or closer to closing time. Although I can’t sing enough praises for this salon, making an appointment rarely makes a difference. This is why I’ve given a 4 Star Rating. Before the weekend rush is always best, Sundays included. Monday seems to be a good day, slower than other days.
I stress this to a lot of people, so I’ll stress it here too: Minnesota Nice does not work in a nail or hair salon. If you say «It’s Great!» when you actually hate it, you gotta try a little harder. I’ve never had one of the Nail Techs at Golden Nails say «No!» when I asked them to fix a flaw, re-​do a design or re-​position a rhinestone. You should tip accordingly, but then again, you should tip well all the time; A nail tech who knows a good tip is in his or her future will most certainly look forward to your boots walking through the salon door.

This place is so nice and professional. Came in with my mom and sisters for mani pedis before my wedding. Highly recommend Ann. She’s a sweetheart.

I have gone to GN a couple of times, and even took my out of town sister there (and she is picky!). Always have had a good experience and a great & lasting mani/​pedi. I am greeted quickly, seated quickly and immediately offered a drink. I have never had to wait, but I have seen them ask others to wait or return and its always been done professionally. I have even seen them accept people after they have closed.
The techs have always made sure that I am aware of the prices of the services I am ordering. I sometimes change my mind half-​way through the service and they have always been accommodating. I have some surgery scars and they are always careful to ask if they can massage the area, and if the level of pressure is okay.
I understand that they want to upsell and get more tips, but they have never pressured me. They ask once, and then leave it alone after that.
But here are my tests for the 5 star rating:
1. Time until next mani/​pedi — most places my manicure needs to be redone in less than 5 days, and pedicure in 7 – 10 days. At GN my manicure lasts about 10 days, and my pedicure about 2 weeks!
2. Cleanliness — this place is always clean. I like the clean lines of the manicure table. I don’t like those cluttered with brushes, shelves, fans, etc — cuz if you look there is a layer of dust/​grime about an inch thick. Not here! Clean, clean, clean. Every time I am there, they are scrubbing, sweeping, and cleaning every surface. :)
3. Awareness of my needs: I hate when the tech is trying to chat you up. I want to go to the salon and relax. I want to read my book, I want to be messaged. I want no one talking to me. This place nails it (no pun intended) every time. I almost always fall asleep at some point.

My mother-​in-​law and I went here for pedicures. We will NOT be going back.
This was the shortest and most halfhearted (think of another word there) pedicure I have ever received. We were in and out before other customers who arrived before us finished.
The woman who did my pedi (younger woman) dug so deep into my nails that I’m pretty sure I was bleeding, and my big toes hurt today. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that I won’t get an infection.
The floor had so much water on it I slipped and nearly fell. Fortunately for me and the salon I landed on my chair. No one dried up the puddle so after my pedi I had to walk with extreme caution to avoid slipping again.
The designs on my big toes don’t match either. I’m not expecting an exact carbon copy, but even my husband at first glance saw that they were not the same.
Like many other nail salons, the people working there refuse to speak English in front of customers. I find this to be extremely rude and unprofessional. Unlike other salons, their conversations were near shouting levels so my MIL could not hold our own conversation.
For the value I would have been better off, happier, and money ahead if I would have just bought a new bottle of polish and painted my toes at home. This place was a rip-​off at best.
My advice — go elsewhere. There is certainly no shortage of nail salons in the area!

When I first arrived for a pedicure, I was greeted and hustled to the back. A young woman quickly started working on my feet. There was no discussion about which package I wanted or how much it would cost. I was offered a drink after ten minutes.
The woman who worked on my feet, seemed to be very pressed for time. She was rough with my feet and really didn’t try to care if I was comfortable or relaxed. I was not impressed or pleased with their cleanliness. The tools and water felt dirty. There was almost no conversation. My feet hurt for a few days from being worked on so roughly.
The entire pedicure took about 25 minutes. When I got to the front to pay, I was told it was $ 35. I saw a sign on the counter advertising the $ 35 pedicure I had received. It said, «45 minutes of heaven». It was more like 25 minutes of being poked and prodded.
I’ve had ten or so pedicures in my lifetime. Most of them were better than this. A few were worse. Golden Nails might be a notch above the worst.

The ladies here are wonderful! VERY clean! They offer a free beverage each time you visit and are always willing to accommodate you. Even if you walk in 5 minutes before close! Jacki is quick when it comes to fills, Vicki’s gives a nice hand massage w/​a manicure and LeAnn does a good Gel manicure. The owner is frequently there and is always checking in with you.
They have specials Mon — Wed for $ 2-​$ 5 off most services. If you don’t visit Mon-​Wed check out a local ad and you will likely find a coupon for some savings.
