LDA Minnesota is a nonprofit organization with the mission to help children, youth and adults with learning difficulties, including learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders, to learn successfully, dream of possibilities, and achieve their goals.
LDA Minnesota provides individualized tutoring, diagnostic assessments, workshops, support groups, counseling, and professional development training for those who work with students facing learning challenges.
History
Established in 1967.
Three professional educators founded Learning Disabilities Association, Inc. (LDA Minnesota), originally incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1967. Over its 44-year history, the organization has become recognized for its expertise and use of current research and best practices in the area of learning and attention challenges. LDA has developed many partnership programs with public and private schools, colleges, other postsecondary training institutions, and adult literacy programs to focus on solutions to fulfill its mission. LDA is the state affiliate of LDA of America, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to information, advocacy, research, and education focused on learning disabilities. In 2003, LDA received the first-ever Nonprofit Excellence Award, which recognizes quality non-profit management and is coordinated by the Minnesota Council on Nonprofits and the Management Assistance Program for Nonprofits.
