AutoNation Subaru West

This was my first experience buying a new car and just not really sure I want to go through the drama again. Lots of back and forth along with a mini-​tantrum from the salesperson and then I forgot to bring snacks… Just like bargaining in any foreign land, I should have been prepared to hang out for a while in order to get the best deal. The snacks would have helped me survive through the final lap through the finance person, which was the ultimate drama. Thankfully, you can get a refund in the first 30 days with most add-​on mistakes you make in that office.
All in all, I have nothing to compare it to except a couple of preliminary tests at Flatirons and Shortline. BUT I did DESPISE the very last person to get in my BRAND NEW CAR after I signed away $ 25 000. He was the manager who sulked around the floor when he was not outside smoking cigarettes. So at the very end of it all, I am hungry and my brand new car smells like cigarettes.
Advice summary: Take snacks, keep smokers outside of the car (unless you are into that).

If you want to purchase/​lease a Subaru… This is the dealership!!! Make sure to ask for salesman, Don Wright. He didn’t come off as a salesman… just a really likable guy who was knowledgeable about both cars we were considering (Subaru Outback and Crosstrek).
I could not decide which model to purchase but I knew the specific options I wanted in a car… Don was patient and able to talk through the pros and cons of each. We test drove both cars, had more conversation about MY wants and needs and ended up, with Don’s help, making a great car decision… I ended up with the Crosstrek (with STI accessories).
Don could have «sold» me into the more expensive Outback 3.6 (which I did love)… But pointed out that our other vehicle, a FORD F150, may make the Outback «too much» car for a «city» vehicle. We agreed!
We have had the car for 3 days and have had at least 10 people compliment the car… The unusual STI accessories on the Crosstrek make it amazingly unique!

Bought a new Subaru here and overall enjoyed the experience. Sales rep Dan Carne understood exactly what we wanted and never tried to sell us anything else. Awesome test drive experience, very insightful. My only issue is that I had to request the lower online-​deal price myself — otherwise we would have paid more for the same car.

Just bought a beautiful Subaru Forester from this dealership. Dealt with Noël Estrada who was patient, kind, and not pushy. Though I think we could have got a better deal if other dealerships had the car we wanted, we are happy. Some of the numbers were out of his hands so not his fault. He did a great job and I would recommend asking for him for your buying experience at Subaru west.

The service really is. Because if you show up early you may be late for work, if not worse. Also no one offered a loaner car. So why is a Subaru dealer using
a ford mini van to drop their clients off slipping and sliding in that weather, Perfect. I guess when your in Colorado everyone is just happy happy
All the time and don’t need to give the client the best service possible.

I visited the parts department the other day as recommended by Suba Performance and was not impressed with my experience.
I walked up to the counter where 1 employee was on a computer right in front of me and two others to the side talking with each other. For several minutes i stood there awkwardly while none of them acknowledged my presence. Is it that hard to make eye contact, smile, and say «hello, we’ll be with you in a minute?» (No, it’s not)
Eventually a 4^th employee came over and assisted me with a very stoic demeanor. I was looking for three parts. Two were in stock but one of the rubber hoses was way overpriced (over $ 50). Almost double what i could buy it for from a different Subaru dealer. So i walked out of there with a $ 2 o-​ring which was what i needed most. Better than nothing.
Overall there was just a bad vibe down there in the parts department. No one was happy to be there and it showed. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but I think it would be helpful for that bunch to get a refresher on customer service and friendly social skills.

I recently purchased a new 2016 Subaru Outback 3.6. Man am I in love! This is my first Subaru vehicle and I am a fan. I test drove other cross-​over vehicles and felt the safest in the Outback. The 3.6 has all the bells and whistles I could ask for. It’s almost as smart as I am! It has a fast get-​up and go and has a second set of «eyes» looking out for you on the road.
The service I received at AutoNation was excellent. I was hoping for the Venetian red pearl but was able to hold Lapis blue pearl. It turned out an Outback in red was going to be available so I jumped on that offer. I appreciate my salesman for hearing what my first pick was and reaching out to me right away when one was available.
Overall the process went very smoothly. I knew what I wanted and the team at AutoNation was able to accommodate accordingly. I appreciate all their help and will definitely be returning for any Outback service needs.

I sent in a request for a quote on the Forester I wanted online, and Mitch responded. He and I worked out the price via email before I even set foot on the lot. He was very quick to respond and attentive to my questions. Negotiating was a totally painless experience. I went out and met Mitch to drive the car, and he was knowledgeable and very pleasant. I wasn’t able to buy the car that day, and he was flexible in making sure that I still got the car I wanted for the price we had agreed on when I was able to buy, a week later. I had a tricky situation involving multiple states in my registration process, and so far they have been very helpful and flexible with that — hopefully all works out when it comes time for me to actually register the car! Since buying, Mitch has reached out to me multiple times so see if I had any questions about my new car. Overall a great buying experience and I will definitely be telling my friends who are in the market for a Subaru to get in touch with Mitch at Autonation West.

Vik was very helpful in helping us decide on some options we were looking for. He was extremely knowledgeable, and at no point did I feel like he was trying to pressure us into buying just anything. I also feel like we got a fair price for what we were looking at. And their inventory for used price was great — so go check them out!

You really have to experience their service department to understand this review… I bought my car in the Springs at Heuberger because I lived there at the time but for 10 years now I have worked near this location and take it in for service here. First of all, I have never had a car perform this well — Subarus are awesome! Second, it helps to have a dealership you can trust and who treat you with respect and kindness. I love the service department here and everyone is friendly and great! Finally, like I said, you have to experience how truly awful other places are like the Jeep Autonation right across the street to truly appreciate a good thing. For me, as I search for a new car in the next year or so, I know what’s important me: Quality of the vehicle, and I am now going to check out the service department too and how their shuttles operate because the Jeep one was so awful. Here the shuttle drivers get to know you, come anytime they are operating to get you and are the kindest people you will meet. Honestly, the full package is important to me and Subaru AutoNation West in Golden delivers!

Bought a used Outback there. Overall, it was a good experience, and we would go back to buy another car.
Pros: Staff were all friendly. Quite a bit of maintenance had been done to the car prior to our purchase, as well as a full detail. They met our price expectations. No pressure from the sales staff.
Cons: It just seemed to take a long time. But part of that was because it was early in the day, and they had to call in a finance guy since the other one was at a meeting. But kudos to the man who came in early to help us out! Overall, we’re very happy with our purchase, and with our experience.

Bought a used vehicle from them 2 weeks ago. Ive already had to make my 3^rd service appointment to get things looked at. I was never told about a certain aftermarket piece that was put into the car before I purchased it. I will end up spending quite an add’l amount of money to have the car running «hopefully» back to normal. Very, Very Displeased!!!

I recently purchased a vehicle and Marty was great to work with. No pressure, comfortable setting, clean environment. I was there for about 4 hours from beginning to end. Highly recommend it.

I dropped by Autonation today and spoke to a «salesperson» who «worked» there. After waiting for this fellow to get off the phone I explained exactly what I was looking for. His response: «that isn’t possible». Used Subaru Outbacks with that low of miles are way more than that”. I said «ok, thank you» and left. I drove down the street to another deal and they had several Outbacks that were «not possible» to find. Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time at this dealership. They are clueless.

Car-​buying is a pain in the ass, let’s face it. Like, maybe if you have a 7 figure income it isn’t, but I’m betting it still is; ALL big ticket item purchases are pains in the ass.
However…
We just purchased a used Forester from Noël Estrada and it was a relatively painless, and actually pretty pleasant experience.
Noël busted his tail and came in on his day off to transfer the vehicle from a different AutoNation store over to West and was just a generally nice fellow. None of that hungry bear salesperson aggression; no condescension for our lack of excellent credit; no intense upselling or presumption. Noël just helped us buy a car that met our needs.
And Mike then got us into financing that was so substantially better than the options we walked in with…
and the other customers were friendly…
decent coffee, an entertaining and sanitary enclosure for small children, and nice bathrooms are also pluses for sure… But, most of all, within a few phone calls my partner and I could just go to Golden (we’re in Loveland) and get my new car (she’s is delightfully zippy) and leave.
We will and have recommend this dealership.

My wife and I went to AutoNation Subaru wanting to purchase a vehicle. Allen Sziklas stepped up to us and began asking us what we were looking for and what we were perhaps not looking for. I appreciated the detailed way he approached the possible sale. We were taken out the lot, looked over a few Subarus, and both saw the same one at the same time. Allen was quite patient with us, took us out for a test drive, and waked us through the entire purchasing experience. We were expecting perhaps a 2013 or 2014 model, but found that we could get just as good of a deal on a 2016 model, so that is what we went with! This is the very first brand new vehicle either of us has ever owned and the experience was a very positive one! The only downside was, from beginning to end, we were there for 5.5 hours… Somehow, I would like that time reduced.

Bought a new 15 Forester XT last night from Wes Guthrie at AutoNation Subaru. He has sold us probably half a dozen cars over the years, and we’ve referred at least that many people to him as well. He really listens to what we wanted and let us know our options. He has an incredible amount of Subaru knowledge and love for the cars that he sells. There is no haggling, no bait-​and-​switch, and no pressure.
We are so happy with our new car, and we will continue doing business with Wes and the guys at this dealership for years to come (but hopefully not for several more years).

I came here to do a test drive about a month ago in a legacy. I loved it, but wasn’t sure if I was ready to purchase a new vehicle. Chad took us on the test drive and was super knowledgable and patient as I shopped around some of the other models. Chad and the sales manager were not pushy at all and offered me a decent price on my trade in.
After the month passed, I had the urge to go back and purchase the legacy I test drove. I called Chad and waited after his shift for me to look at vehicles. We looked at the used cars to make sure there wasn’t anything there I wanted; I didn’t see anything. We then went back to the legacy I wanted. We went to see what I could be financed for. They offered me the same price on my trade in from a month ago and helped me decide what option would be best. I was ready to finance the vehicle, but there were four people in front of me waiting for the finance guy so they told me it would be better to come back the next day.
I came back the next day. The sales manager stated they made a mistake with my credit and used the wrong credit score. They discounted the price we agreed on to match the monthly payment they promised from the day before. The sales manager even offered to buy me Starbucks monthly to make up for the slight $ 5 difference the mistake made. While waiting for the finance guy, Chad kept me entertained showing me all the bells and whistles on the car.
Chad and the sales manager were very helpful throughout the whole process and tried to prepare me for what was next with my registration, insurance, warranties, etc. My first two oil changes are going to be a dollar and they threw in mud mats and the a cargo mat for the trunk.
I also came home today to a package of freshly baked cookies thanking me for my time.
The only cons I had about this place was I felt rushed when signing my paperwork and there wasn’t a large selection of used cars if that’s what you’re looking for. That’s it.

This place is terrible. I bought a 2014 Forrester here in August of 2013. I already knew the car I wanted and I went through the Costco auto purchasing program so there was no negotiation hassle on the car itself. I was able to go on a week day afternoon so I didn’t have a wait for a test drive, although the actual purchase took about 5 hours. This is the first time I’ve bought a car from a dealership so I’m not sure how long it typically takes. I did get the hard sell when I entered the financing room, however, with their extra warranty programs, etc. Overall the purchase process was ok– thanks to Costco.
My real issue with this place has been with a $ 100 referral check. Yup, after spending $ 34,000 on a brand new car they managed to show their true colors with a $ 100 referral check that THEY offer. My roommate bought a brand-​new Outback 1 month afterwards from Autonation West on my recommendation. They tell you over and over how they will give you $ 100 for any referral who purchases a car. She put me down as a referral but never heard from them. I reached out and was told yes, I qualify, and the check is in the mail. The check never arrives. I reach out again and am told that it is being mailed. Again, nothing comes. I email my sales guy again with no response. I email the manager and and am told the check is in the mail. Nothing. I email him again and receive no response. Sound familiar? I then email Autonation’s national customer care. NOTHING. Not one response! It is a complete scam.
In December of 2014, my husband takes the car in for an oil change (I got suckered into an oil change package at financing). He talks to the manager, who says that I will receive a check in 7 – 10 days. NOTHING. It has been 2 months.
I also would NOT recommend their auto service. They sell you packages at closing but their service takes forever and I really don’t trust anything they say. It is amazing how they will tell you what a great car it is when you purchase, and then literally months later start warning you how your car is in danger of falling apart any day unless you spend a bunch of money at their service team. As soon as my package is up I am going to a local service shop.
As a note, I see reading others’ reviews that they received free oil changes. I did not– I purchased a package of 4 when I financed. Who knows what other extras they got me on.
