We are an artisan distillery producing hand crafted premium spirits. Are products include Gin, Absinthe, Crème de Violette, Dry Curaçao, Amer dit Picon, Grappa and Apple Jack.

History

Established in 2008.

Founded in 2008 and in production at our current facility in Golden Colorado since Oct 2012, we are a small artisan distillery and tasting room dedicated to the manufacture of premium hand-​crafted spirits.

We’re also in the process of opening a Speaky-​Easy style tasting room with a full cocktail menu in Downtown Golden CO in the next few months.

Stephen G.

Business Owner

Stephen Gould has been a saucier, a bar tender, a brewer, a corporate executive with extensive international trade and supply chain management experience, a U.S. Marine and a university professor.

In 1998 Mr. Gould founded Maison De La Vie, Ltd. to produce premium hand-​crafted liquors and liqueurs using the best available fruits, herbs, spices and botanicals. His approach is to select the best ingredients possible and then to use the same types of artisan production processes utilized by distillers making premium products in the mid-​to-​late 1800s.

Now located in Golden Colorado, Maison De La Vie, Ltd. operates Golden Moon Distillery, producing Golden Moon Gin, REDUX Absinthe, Golden Moon Crème de Violette, Golden Moon Amer dit Picon and a variety of other small-​batch liquors and brandies.

This place was amazing! Joey showed us the entire operation and how it works! We got to taste some of the product that was actively distilling! Then we went to the tasting area and had over 8 different spirits, with a full shot of their award winning absinthe! All before 10am in the morning. We loved the tour and got some gin, it was to die for!

Great liquors! Absinthe drinks are wonderful. Environment has an old school easy appeal. All around really fun little place in the middle of Golden.

Their products are top notch. We’ve started gifting bottles of their unique liquors. Located in an off the beaten path small business and warehouse area. At the distillery you can buy bottles to take home. There’s also the Golden Moon Speak in downtown Golden. A little hard to find, but really classy inside. Would make a great date night. They do serve things to nibble on so perfect for an after dinner experience. Inventive cocktails with premium ingredients in a great setting with great art and old school charm.

Visited the new tasting room downtown Golden. Review was made up of three separate parts. I give the spirits 5 stars, they are made in small antique stills, for the most part, and are excellent. We did a tasting of the spirits and the 3 grappa’s they had available (except for the Sauvignon Blanc the Grappa was also outstanding). The whiskey isn’t really theirs, I wish the Distiller/​owner would expand into his own whiskey. I give the cocktails 4 stars, the ones we tried were interesting but the bartenders tended to overpower the herbs with lemon. As to the 2 bartenders/​servers, they get 2 stars. If I owned the business, neither would be employed. They simply ruined what would have been a great experience.

Very tasty, I can’t wait to try what they make next!
The tour was a quick one-​on-​one and we got to ask questions about the operation. We had a good time with the woman at the tasting bar who was fun to talk with while we sampled the drinks. Bottled products are reasonably priced and very good.
If you like absinthe (or especially if you have never tried it), I highly recommend that you try it here!!!
NOTES: Although breweries sometimes have hamburgers, fries, etc., this distillery does not. This is not a drawback, but you might want to consider eating lunch before you stop by.
Also, it was a little tough for me to visit at first because they always seemed to be closed when I dropped by. However, when I called them they gave me their scheduled hours and offered to set up a tasting if those times didn’t work. Since this was quite a few months ago you probably won’t have a problem, but keep this in mind.
