History

Established in 1939.

The Circle Bar B Stables and Guest Ranch has been in operation for nearly 80 years. In the late 1930’s Florence F. Brown established the Circle Bar B just north of Santa Barbara in Refugio Canyon. Her grandson Pat Brown has continued this operation and is the third generation of the Browns to work the Ranch.

Before opening the Circle Bar B, Florence operated a guest ranch near Los Alamos 30 miles north of Refugio Canyon. In the late 1930’s Florence was drawn to Refugio Canyon on Santa Barbara’s scenic Gaviota Coast, because of the comfortables year-around climate, the dramatic ocean and mountain views, and the beautiful scenery. She fell in love with the area, purchased the property, and opened the Circle Bar B Guest Ranch. Horses have always been a big part of the Brown family’s history, which spans three centuries in Southern California, and they look forward to sharing their ranch world with you!
