Island Seed and feed a a real local place with great service and great inventory of organic and natural products. Can’t beat them for chicken feed, organic supplements for the soil and an interesting selection of plants that change with the seasons. Its worth a visit even if you are not a gardener.

Everyone working here was friendly and helpful. Even for a first time customer I felt welcomed. They had exactly what I came for — red composting worms– and gave me free plans for designing a composting bin. They have everything you might need for your home garden, and their chickens are beautiful.

Your inner-farmer will dig this place. Creating a landscape that provides sustenance and optimizes resources takes some planning and nitty-gritty advice to succeed. Matt and his knowledgeable staff have the pragmatic know-how and products to make this happen. Worm composting essentials, everything to start a chicken coop and an extensive seed selection are just some of the high points.

I just moved to Goleta and was looking for a place to pick up seeds to start a vegetable garden. This is THE place for that! They have a seriously large selection of seeds and even have a bulk seeds section where you just take what you need. In addition, they’ve started a lot of the seeds that they sell so you can buy seedlings and save yourself 4 – 6 weeks of growing time if you need instant gratification. Both ladies who work there were extremely nice and helpful for me, pointing me in the right direction and getting me started. I’m now on my way to growing several different types of vegetables so I can live more sustainably.

Tucked away behind a strip mall and next to a machine shop, this magical wonderland is a Santa Barbara treasure. It may not be as pretty as some of the fancier nursery operations, but it is the very best in terms of expertise, character, and atmosphere. The staff love what they do and will spend the time to really understand your needs(and even make you realize things you didn’t think of). There is such a mellow, positive vibe here and it permeates every nook and cranny. From the chicks and chickens, to the resident cats and dogs, to the amazing selection of seeds, books, feeds, and other garden essentials, you will not leave empty handed. They are also very family friendly, patiently answering question after question from the little ones, and really encouraging their natural spirit. Come here with an open mind and heart, and you will leave happy(and with a car full of goodies to boot).

I love gardening and I love starting from seeds. They have a huge selection of seeds, and a full wall of seeds by my favorite company«Botanical Interests». They also have a large selection of seedlings for sale. They have lots of feed for sale as well, for chickens, cat food, dog food, and more. Baby chicks are for sale as well. Wonderful staff, great advice, very knowledgeable. Thanks for being such a great place to get my gardening needs.

Small, hidden garden supply packed with trinkets and merchandise. Prices not great but they had things I couldn’t find elsewhere. Staff was helpful and knowledgable and they had an assortment of by-the-pound organic fertalizers.
