Crowne Plaza Grand Rapids – Airport

Decent hotel with great amenities. Updated room with nice toiletries newer furniture and plenty of room. This hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool tiki bar and whirlpool. The staff was friendly however I was not recognized as a platinum member and my coworker got a nicer room and he is only entry level!!! They do have a great gym with lots of options. Also concierge lounge with appetizers and one free drink and continental breakfast in the morning.

This hotel just blew me away with its impressive customer service. You guys are the best. The food is awesome and wow everything you could need in one place is very important to me. thanks because I will be back for sure

This is one of the worst hotel rooms I have ever seen. Smallest bathroom ever beds dip in the middle carpet is dirty room was not totally cleaned trash in the drawers. Terrible!!! I wouldn’t even give it ½ star. But 1 is as low as it goes

While it’s still a Crowne Plaza, it’s in serious need of some real updating. The entry smells like bad pool, and carpet throughout is in serious need of replacement — ew.
As for the rooms, there has been some cosmetic and bathroom updates. Also needs carpet replacement, and the beds are hideously bad. I can usually get by with too hard beds, but these creak and the springs pop. The linens are nice, but just lipstick on a pig here.
Do yourself a favor and Find another location for your overnight.

We were reluctant to stay at this hotel based on some of the negative reviews. It is a clean hotel nice rooms with a cordial staff. We encountered zero problems. All the basics are covered with hot water on the third floor and coffee in the room. We booked it from Priceline and the room cost was $ 129.00 plus tax.

Checked in last night to great drinks and appetizers. Once I was in my room I opened the refrigerator to find a clear bag of something very gross. I then got in my bed and began smelling spoiled milk. Just like a baby had threw up in the bed. This morning I didn’t receive my room service for breakfast and I was very upset because I’m a flight attendant and I’m on limited time each trip that I have including places that don’t serve complimentary breakfast. I did inform the restaurant and the for desk of the issues and they told me that they would get housekeeping in the room right away after I had checked out this morning. Also the restaurant said that they would let the manager know of the room service that was not delivered and I asked for a free breakfast the next time I’m there.

I enjoyed the hotel itself – room was fine and hotel was nicely decorated. Amenities were nice, including the pool and gym. BUT. Word to the wise: this hotel is pretty popular for weddings, social events and party people on the weekends… meaning, it gets rowdy. While the hotel can’t necessarily be faulted with the noisiness of hotel patrons, it’s probably something to note if you’re a light sleeper or looking for a place for a good night’s sleep on a Saturday night.

The hotel is not what I expected since I’ve stayed at several Crowne Plaza’s before. This one was spacious, clean, has a large restaurant bar close to lobby area, small gym, pool, business center. The standard stuff most hotels have. The downfall was the rooms. The bed was uncomfortable and mattress sunk in the center. The room had a cabinet that looked like a mini fridge was missing. Small room and carpets were not very clean as dark spots & stains were in several areas. Beware if you order the nachos. I got quite sick 30 mins after I had less than of the plate. Called manager and no response. The front desk clerk was more accommodating and gave me a free breakfast buffet voucher after I told her how sick I got from nachos. Breakfast buffet was not very good. It was similar to a Days Inn type buffet. Scrambled eggs soggy, bacon and sausage undercooked & burners didn’t keep warm at all. I would not stay here again should I come back here on business.

OK, about to check out. Considering what I expected from a crowne plaza, I thought it would be nicer. Everything is just OK. The staff at check-​in was nice and fast. The walk to the elevator is longer than usual.
Is it worth spending a little more here than a budget place? Nope. At least those places have some kind of free breakfast.
The big offender here and was mentioned already is the shower. It’s clogged and slow to drain. It was hot and pressure was good however.
Overall, I paid a bit more and expected a little nicer place. The pool did look very nice.

If you are looking to sleep on a concrete bed this place is for you! I had the most miserable stay. I travel the country and stay in hotels for a living, let me just say I slept 1hr. due to the beds being rock hard it literally felt like sleeping on a concrete floor. I asked other co workers who have stayed her previously and the say the exact same thing! I m not picky with beds since I stay in different hotels but this place has caused me to write a review of the reality and quality of the beds and let me just say folks it is not the place to stay if you want a comfortable sleep!

Definitely one of the most positive hotel experiences I’ve had. The clerk in front was very genuine and friendly and amused me with the thickest Michigan accent I’ve ever heard. Check in was simple, the room was spotless and smelled really good. Beyond the pleasant smell, the room was standard. The bed was comfy and my room had a sliding door right to the outdoor pool area. They’ve also got a hot tub, indoor pool, and sauna, all of which I took advantage.

It’s a nice airport hotel, I like the massive open expanse of the lobby. Plenty of chairs to sit in and little side tables to place your drink on. There’s complimentary coffee in the morning and right next to it is the hotel restaurant.
This hotel is located in a spot that doesn’t suck. Just because there’s establishments around it. Fast food restaurants, pharmacy, and a Mega Walmart to top it off. If you fancy a walk/​run there’s a park about 2 miles out.
This place has all the amenities of an all out hotel. It has ball rooms, function/​banquet rooms, a business centre, a pool, fitness centre, and even long hallways. They even have these things called elevators. Apparently these things were invented to take us from one floor to another. It helps us so we don’t have to carry all our crap up and down the stairs.
Then they have rooms as well, in them there are beds, a tv, a desk, a bathroom, a toilet and a shower. It’s so awesome how complete the amenities are in this hotel. They even give you free soap, shampoo, conditioner, and toilet paper. WOW!
Anyway, their staff is really nice, they take care of everything that we need. Only thing that kinda got me was the spotty Internet connection in the fitness centre, but that’s not a big deal to me, im there to work out, not watch netflix. Thank you for the stay, it was very restful.

We just got here as a 60 person group that requested rooms over two months ago and they’re still not ready. Truthfully, the front desk was actually polite about it, but the managers haven’t been helpful whatsoever. The front desk did tell us that management was helping in cleaning the rooms, lol – not sure if that’s true or not – but when I schedule my room two months ahead of time then I expect it to be ready. I apologize if that’s too much to ask for.

Arrived late and the desk clerk was extra nice. Room was spotless. Here for a conference and everything is great. A man was lost in the hall (the place is a maze) and housekeeping walked him to his room. Could improve the signage to get out to parking lot. I parked outside door H but it isn’t marked on the inside door. Desk clerk walked me to the right door and was so pleasant. Here for two more days

Overall my experience was just okay. I will probably find a different hotel next time I come to GR for business.
When I walked up to the counter to check in — I was greeted by a clerk who was not happy to be at work and you could tell. He was very unperson-​able and just seemed lazy.
The room was a decent size, tv and lamps work fine. I was surprised to find a big balcony that would be nice in the warmer months. The bathroom is a good size — a little dark in the shower. While on the topic of the shower, when I first turned on my shower (after a long day of travel) the water ran out brown… yuck! After a few minutes it was clear and it never happened again. Also my shower did not drain well at all, I was constantly standing in about 3 – 4 inches of water while I was showering.
The maintenance man who came to clear the pool area and fix random things in the hallways seemed to be a bit grumpy. Maybe he was just there to collect his paycheck but he was very unperson-​able.
The indoor pool area with hot tub and sauna was a very nice feature for relaxing after a long days work.
The gym is small — 4 machines… so don’t expect to get a full workout done. Every time I tried to use the gym there were already 3 other people with the same idea. The pictures online make it seem bigger than it actually is.
The restaurant inside the hotel — nothing special. Over priced food that is not even worth eating. I was tired and did not want to venture out after a long days work so I went to the restaurant and I was very disappointed… first off it was Karaōke night… terrible! I sat down and waited a few minutes before a server even came to greet me. I ordered the crispy chicken salad — what a let down. There were 4 tortillas chips on top, what looked like a child’s portion of frozen chicken tenders over a bed of lettuce; and the chipotle dressing was flavorless!

Good customer service, tastefully decorated room with comfortable beds and good quality bedding. We were given late checkout for free until 2 pm, which is an added bonus! The only thing that would make it even better is I wIsh they provide free breakfast, but Tim Horton’s is just across the street.

Very comfy hotel. Needs some upgrades but the staff is super friendly and efficient. Will stay here again.

Nope! I’ve gotta pass on this place in the future. As spacious and nice as the lobby looked the rooms are outdated and a little gross. The bathroom was small, cramped and spot-​cleaned at best with mildew/​mold growing in the corners of the shower ceiling. The toilet was clean but the base of it not so much. The shower curtain was too small for the actual size of the shower which was odd.
The room itself was pretty cramped too, as if they changed the lay-​out and moved all the furniture close together. The chair was right next to the other bed between it and the window. There was some space near the TV which is where I would’ve set up the ironing board but they didn’t have outlets there. The privacy shade on the window was a little wonky too, and lastly, the spot where the mini-​fridge would’ve been, completely empty and void… again odd.

I am going to choose not to come here after my first visit. I hate to be picky or to critical about places but here we go:
Arrived last night late. Said I have an IHG membership but I unfortunately forgot to add it on my reservation and don’t know how to find my rewards deal, the response: let me know when you find it and I’ll throw it on. I didn’t even bother asking to have him look it up because the whole attitude was just that negative. I was hoping he’d just ask. What’s so hard about typing my phone number in? They did it at the Crowne Plaza in Minneapolis last week?
Get into the room. Have to use restroom. What do I find? Dried urine on toilet seat. Black hairs on floor everywhere. Um, gross. At this point I’m thinking what kind of bed am I going to be crawling into.
The bed is really worn. Makes noise, I can feel that people have been sleeping in it for years, and I can feel the springs. The bed in my guest bedroom is better.
Take a shower in the morning and the drain won’t open so I end up standing in my own dirty water. Doesn’t help that I’m a germ-​a-​phobe. I just think it’s nasty. I tried fixing it but it wouldn’t stay open no matter what I tried.
I am going to be in the area more frequently over these next few months and will be taking my business elsewhere based off the weird/​gross experience here. I’d advise you to do the same especially over $ 50 a night.
It’ll be worth it to have that much more of a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

This is one of those reviews I never expected to write. When I’m in Grand Rapids, I’m there for the purpose of visiting my sister, thus I stay with her. Winter weather being what it is in Michigan, however, meant that one evening a couple of days before Christmas, many people were suddenly faced with a dark and cold home. At my sister’s, the power went out around 6pm… with 7 of us in the house, including two little kids (one of whom immediately started complaining that he is afraid of the dark), my brother-​in-​law quickly booked us a couple of rooms at the Crowne Plaza.
Problems with one of our rooms: –toilet that ran, –one light that wouldn’t stay on, –heating unit that was too loud, –beds that were quite worn out and soft, with very noticeable indentations in the middle. Everything was very clean, however, and that’s important. Plus, my nephew enjoyed the pool. Under other circumstances I might have rated this only 2 stars, but we were grateful for the warmth and light! Luckily, the power returned the next morning, so our stay at this hotel was short.
I should also mention that if one is NOT coming from the direction of the airport, and it’s dark, the hotel can be very difficult to find. There is not an entrance into the parking lot directly from 28^th Street. You have to turn into a side street from 28^th and only then can you get into the hotel’s parking lot.
