Hansons of Grand Rapids

I was a former fan of Hanson windows they did 2 houses for us and I recommended them to a number of friends. But when I needed them to just replace two windows in a rental house we had I was told there was a $ 2,000 minimum and they couldn’t help me. I wasn’t told this up front only after their salesman came out to give us a quote. Very disappointed in you Hansons I gave you a lot of business and this is the thanks I got. I will not only not recommend you to anyone else I will never ever call you again.

Was set up through a friend to receive a free estimate on replacement windows for our house. I thought why not give it a try as I was curious of the cost. Was contacted by phone to set up the estimate and before even meeting anyone or getting my estimate they wanted to run my credit for «pre-​approval». I told them I only wanted an estimate and wasn’t paying for anything in the near future… Day two the estimator shows up at our house and has a very strong body odor… He speaks his pitch and is not getting to the point or the estimate. I tell him we don’t have a lot of time and he’s got to wrap this up and he says he needs at least an hour to an hour and a half. I told him we can reschedule maybe at a later date but I will not be doing so. Hansens is pushy and very unprofessional. When I do replace the windows in our house it will not be with Hansens. They need to review their sales tactics and have better people representing them. We don’t like smelly people and its 2015 so let’s keep it short and to the point… four thumbs down Hansens.

I responded to their email and set an appointment. They called back and insisted I must give them my marital status before they would send someone out. I refused repeatedly and they insisted. I hung up and complained through an email which purports to be the president of the company. A young lady called back and told me she had reviewed the call and it was unacceptable but Hanson’s was in business because it treated customers well. I think it is because not enough people leave reviews to warn those who come next.
BEWARE. VERY PUSHY. And they have a $ 2,000 minimum. They won’t even be bothered if there is not a lot of work.

After 4 tries and a complete redo, they still have not gotten the roof right. I had to get the State of Michigan involved, as well as a lawyer, the township inspector and a private inspector. The inspectors said my roof was the worst they have ever seen. What they did was negligent and dangerous. They refused to redo the roof until The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs got involved because it was raining in my house. It ended up causing $ 5000 in damage, which was paid for by the crews insurance company. Hansons did not cover anything. They do not have any crews, they hire the lowest bidder that has insurance to work on your house. After 8 months of telling them to redo it, they finally sent a new crew out who replaced the faulty roof, but did all the ventilation wrong. They said they have been doing it like that for years. I had to call the manufacturer of the vents to get Hansons to admit they were installed wrong. They sent another crew out, (one of the member of this crew informed me that he was just released from prison after 6 years. Gary Sherman, from Hansons, had no comment when I asked if background checks were done on the people he sends out to customers houses). Anyway, this crew tore out the bad ventilation and tried to patch the wood and reuse the shingles a third time. It looked horrible. They came out and fixed it the best they could, except now my roof is 2 different colors and has a ton of the shingle granules worn off from the teams working on it over the course of a year.
I used all my vacation time, bought tools to clean up after them, paid lawyer fees and inspections fees — they will not reimburse me for any of this. They lie and try to do everything over the phone so there is not record of the promises they make.
Worst company I have ever dealt with.
