Description

Specialties

Our burger was recently named «The Best Burger in America» by GQ Magazine. We have 12 taps of craft beer. We also have 200 kinds of whiskey, including lots of bourbons, scotches, Irish whiskeys, and others. We have a lot of local artwork on the walls. Stella’s has vintage arcade games that can be played for 25 cents, including Joust, Frogger, Ms. Pac Man, Tetris, Tron, and many others. We have a lot of vegetarian options but we’re best known for our giant stuffed burger. The beef we use has no additives or preservatives, is 100% black angus, and comes from farms in Michigan and Ohio. We hand-form the patties ourselves in our kitchen, rather than buying frozen pre-formed patties. We infuse the burgers with cheese and spices before cooking, and it oozes out all over when it’s hot. You’ve got to try one!

History

Established in 2010.

Please note: Same owners but new bar management as of July 2012.

Stella’s was founded by Mark and Michele Sellers, a Grand Rapids couple who named the bar and grill after their dog Stella. We started Stella’s as a place we could hang out, and it’s kind of «offbeat» because we’re kind of offbeat people. There’s nothing else like it in Michigan. We didn’t follow any type of formula, we just did what we thought we’d like as customers. Thus, 200 kinds of whiskey, lots of craft beer, great vegetarian food and an award-winning giant burger, local urban artwork, old school video games, classic rock and alternative music, and a big city vibe. We love places that aren’t corporate or «chain-like» and we hope you will too.

Likes: great white north, mountains, clean drinking water, maple syrup & waffles, hops, snowboarding, wii bowling, garage band, my junior year in high school, making music with my friends, red-headed green eyed women named Kristal and any beer made with any of the above in mind!

Dislikes: ugly Americans, mindless obedience, bullshit conversations, «being seen», emo-country, guilt/fear based cults, suduko, flaky friends, materialism, gas-guzzlers, any thing known as the big three!

«When I grow up I want to be a goat herder.»

Secret not many people know about me: I once killed my imaginary friend for lying to me.
