Specialties
Nestled in the forests and meadows near Granite Falls, Horse Country Farm, our 113-acre down-home, horse facility is perfect for the young and the young at heart. We offer relaxing horseback riding, pony rides, riding lessons, leasing from 6 — 25 hours a month for horselovers all year. During the summer, we add our horse day camp with programs for new riders, 6 – 16 years and a teen leadership camp for those day camp grads who want to help our instructors teach horsemanship.
We specialize in teaching beginners and returning adult riders who want the opportunity to ride in a non-competitive atmosphere. We believe there should be a place for beginning riders and we are that place. We teach «balance riding» and safety around horses. There are many stables that cater to those who already know more about horses than we’ve learned in our 40+ years with these wonderful critters and we’re happy to help you find one of those places if you’re a skilled horse-person.
Got long, skinny carrots? Pop in for a visit, or contact Horse Country Farm at horsecountryfarm.com or call 360−691−7509 today to find out more about what we can offer you, your children and grandchildren.
History
Established in 1977.
After selling her pony farm, The Funny Farm near Silver Lake, Washington almost forty years ago, Colleen Kennedy moved to Granite Falls with her teenage daughters and opened Horse Country Farm. The stable caters to the same audience, primarily children, tweens and teens with a few young at heart adults who enjoy basic, beginning riding. Horse Country offers guided, walk-only trail rides, pony rides, summer day camp, riding lessons and riding leases. Colleen and her adult daughter, Shannon still teach most of the classes.
Meet the Business Owner
Colleen K.
Business Owner
At an age when most people would retire, Colleen Kennedy still goes to the barn every day to look after her four-legged family of horses, most of which were born and raised here at Horse Country Farm. She feeds, waters, grooms, trains, and yes, she cleans the barns and shovels up behind them. She also does most of the maintenance, fence-building, painting, etc so if you see someone picking up garbage, you’ll know it must be Colleen.
