I purchased a Christmas Jewel Holly on ⁶⁄₄. I paid nearly $ 100 for it. I took it home and my yard guy planted it. I was thrilled, until it started to die. Everything else in my yard is thriving. I even bought some soil nutrients for the planting per their suggestion. NEVER did they tell me to break up the root ball before planting. I have never even heard of that. So five weeks later (and regular watering, including extra as it was getting established), I noticed it was looking rather sickly. Leaves were drying up and falling off. I took pictures and went back up there after work one day. Nelda talked to me, looked at pictures and told me it was either under or overwatering. She made a couple of suggestions, which I did. Upon parting, I asked at what point should I bring it back? She said «when it is about half dead (foliage). I kept watering, etc. for a week more. It was showing no signs of improving but only drying up now. Now it was about half dead. Nelda also told me that she’d take care of me when I left that day. So yesterday I took the half dead holly back Nelda come up to the front, sticks her finger way deep into the root balls and tells me it’s from under watering. She said the root ball had to be broken up when planting so the water can absorb. Hello, why weren’t there instructions in the beginning when I purchased it. Then she told me they only take dead plants back, not half dead plants. REALLY? That is not what she told me initially. And I reminded her she said she would take care of me. I didn’t want my money back. I only wanted to get something else. She refused. NOW I REFUSE TO EVER STEP FOOT IN THEIR EMPTY STORE EVER AGAIN. THAT WAS $ 100 DOWN THE DRAIN. I finally walked out after she continued to lecture me of my wrong doings. Whatever happened to taking care of a customer???

I love this place! There is such a happy feeling when you enter. The staff is wonderful and so so helpful. I can tell they enjoy the job. Also they always have personal knowledge of out the products be it cat on growing corn they have experience to share. They also have lots of garden nicknacks for the yard. It worth it for me to past by Lowes and Home Depot to get to this place. Big five stars!

I LOVE Marshall Grain Company. This is where we purchase ALL of our plants, and many of our gardening supplies. The staff is extremely helpful, which is great since my husband and I have very limited knowledge, and undeveloped green thumbs. If you have questions they will take the time to walk around with you and make sure you have exactly what you need, be it products or just knowledge. There are some products you can find cheaper at other places, however I feel pretty loyal to this company, so we tend to not venture elsewhere. We love doing business here!

I love walking into this place and missing the nasty chemical pesticide smell that hits you when you walk into Home Depot, Lowe’s or Ace. We’ve been organic for decades so this where I come to buy fertilizers, potting soils and plants. They have products such as Garrett Juice, 10% vinegar, orange oil, bunny droppings, and most anything else you need for a healthy, safe, garden and lawn. Plus I buy my bird food here, and they have a nice selection of bird feeders, and garden art as well.

All of your gardening needs can without a doubt be found here! I love to go here and just browse around. We needed to get some trees here for a project going on at work and they were extremely accommodating! It’s worth a look see!

If I could leave zero stars I would. I just received, well, not even poor service, but no service at all. I walked in the store and wandered around looking for some Turk’s Cap plants. Nobody greeted me or asked me if I needed help. I was very obviously looking like I needed help. Finally I approached a couple employees standing there just chatting with each other and I asked where I could find some of these plants. The woman said, «If we have any they are out back somewhere. I would help you but I don’t know where they are.» I told her I didn’t either since I don’t work there. She simply turned her back to me and continued her conversation with her coworker. As I wandered around back two more employees watering plants ignored me as well. I could not find what I was looking for and left without anyone thanking me for stopping in. Business must be very good for them to be able to treat their customers so poorly.

I have been a costumer of Marshall Grains for several months and I have been in general satisfied with their service however, an incident that just took place has permanently changed my impression of this business and how it is run. Although I like their products, I will not be back to the store since their customer service leaves much to be desired: A week ago my boyfriend and I purchased what they advertised as «grow lights»; the product itself is GE T12 Ecolux Plant & Aquarium florescent bulbs. The temperature for the lights was not listed on the box or on the bulb so it was not until I got home and checked the specifications online that I realized that it was only 3100K, which is not adequate to provide full spectrum daylight. Unfortunately we misplaced the store receipt, but thought that returning the bulbs would not be a problem because they were in their original packages AND had Marshall Grains’ pricing on it. Little we knew, the manager indicated that yes, she agreed that the bulbs had been purchased at the store but she couldn’t tell how long ago (really?). We offered to provide a copy of the credit card statement matching the amount and indicating exactly when the transaction took place but she refused to take them back. This seems unheard of in this day and age when everybody else seems to be able to verify purchases — we will not go back.

I shop here for dog food and supplies. They have a great selection of high quality dog food that you won’t find at most pet supply stores. They are one of probably two places in the area that have raw meat dog food options. The staff also seems to be very well versed in the products they carry.
My reason for 4 stars is that they seem to be understaffed at times and it can take a while to check out. Most of the time I don’t mind at all… I appreciate the ‘local’ feel of the place and would not give that up for speedier service.
They also have a great selection of plants and gardening supplies.

Spoke to Chris on the phone about fertilizing my lawn, he was very helpful. They did not stock what I wanted but I am going to go down and have a look at them when I am ready to plant again.

I went to Marshall Grain about a month ago to see what kind of stuff they had and saw that they had the kind of plants (natives and sun/​heat-​loving perennials) I wanted to plant in a certain section of my yard. But I wasn’t quite ready to plant that area then. I did buy a gorgeous sunflower bird bath that day, though, since I had been thinking about putting one in the yard anyway.
So last week, I was ready to plant the aforementioned patch of yard and went back to Marshall Grain (I had, in the meantime, been to a couple other nurseries and big-​box stores for my herb-​planting and flowerpot planting endeavors). I went on Wednesday. I know better than to shop anywhere on Mondays since everything is picked over from the weekend shoppers and the new stock won’t be in yet. Well, on Wednesday, the stock was still low. After considerable scrounging, I did manage to find enough suitable plants that, I’m sure, will be lovely. It’s just that they either didn’t have some things I was looking for, or only had one or two. I was a bit disappointed. I know everyone is gardening now before it gets too hot, but I can’t do my whole yard in one week. I have to break the project into smaller tasks and shop/​plant one section at a time each week.
Bottom line — I’m sure what I bought will be lovely, but I really wanted a little more variety and texture. I ended up with more salvias than I would have bought otherwise. And I actually had to go to Lowes to get a few other things to fill in other areas because I couldn’t find enough plants I liked at Marshall Grain on the day I went. Maybe they need to get stock in more frequently this time of the year.

Great gardening AND pet supplies store. Has helpful employees and nice selection of heirloom vegetable starter plants. This store also has a great selection of pet food. Most of the brands they carry have quality ingredients and the prices are reasonable. It has a local business feel. A great alternative to the big box stores.

Love this place, the staff are so helpful. You never know what specials you are going to find. If you are looking for something they will try their hardest to find it and call you and let you know.

I wish this location wasn’t so far away from my ‘hood, because they have so much cool stuff that I would really like to shop here more often.
The employees are nice, their pet food selection kicks arse, and a few weeks ago they were hosting a big pet adoption event in their parking lot. Yay for them!
Their gardening center is much larger than the Fort Worth location, I could spend hours here looking at native Texas plants. This is a big win for Grapevine.

UMMMMM — this place is super cool! Everyone that works here — LOVES their job! Very unique items and very knowledgeable staff!

This place is awesome times ten.
I dont have a yard, so Im not looking for plant stuff, but their pet stuff rules! Its the only place I could find that sells premium dog foods. Wellness, Innova, BG, Merrick, California Natural, and more — its all there and all healthy!
The prices are reasonable too.
Just say NO to PetSmart — and say YES to Marshall Grain! Your pet will thank you!
(oh, and they have a little cat that lives there… he will yell at you… its cute as hell!)

Marshall Grain, I owe you an apology. I judged you by Calloway’s, the previous resident of your location, and I was wrong. I was so wrong.
If you are designing a yard from scratch or replacing shrubs, go see Marshall Grain. They have the best selection of native Texas shrubbery and large flowering shurbs I have seen. Period. And their prices are right too. Big Texas Wisteria is 25 bucks. I know because I just bought one for a gift. They had Texas Mountain Laurel, all kinds of Althea, a good selection of roses, etc. Camellias, Encore Azaleas, you name it they have it or they can get it. They also have about six rows of native Texas perennial plants too. At the cash register there are stacks of Texas gardening books you can use to look up plants. Last but not least, they have the best seed selection I have ever seen. I walked out with a big stack of perennial seeds. and trailing vinca that I have never seen anywhere else. And Lisianthus which isn’t easy to find and needs partial shade so it will do just fine on my shady patio.
If I were doing a yard from scratch I would draw a diagram of my yard on paper with measurements and what gets full sun, partial sun and shade. Then I would go to Marshall’s first to see what tickled my fancy and Weston Gardens second. Weston has more diversity but their prices are also higher. Example: Reblooming Lilies are 9 bucks at Weston and 7 bucks at Marshall’s. Then get all the filler annual stuff at Mike’s Nursery or Lowe’s.
Marshall Grain is also a feed store. Dog food galore, organic honey, plastic owls to put on your fence, watering cans, rakes, etc etc

First I will say that I am not much of a green thumb — I stumbled across Marshall Grain because I was looking for a better, closer place that sold the dog food that we use. Well, we found one and not only did they have the dog food we wanted — they had tons of other really cool stuff. They are a gardening boutique store with very friendly employees willing to answer your every question.
