Painting with a Twist

Went with a friend to paint. Had fun would do it again. The people running the class were not super helpful when you asked a question but my painting still turned out nice.

Painting with a Twist is fun. Okay. So. Here’s the thing. I’ve been to several Painting with a Twist locations. Grapevine is always my favorite.
Tonight was particularly fun. We had a great instructor and he actually helped me after I screwed up my painting. Some instructors might say: «Oh, it’s so you,» but I very much knew I screwed it up. Annnnnd he fixed it. And in doing so – had I been paying attention to what he was doing and saying – taught me how to fix it myself. So; here’s the lesson: you can learn stuff if you pay attention. And if you screw up real bad you can ask for help and then lie to all of your friends and tell them you did it yourself.
So go to painting with a twist and lie to all of your friends about your talent (it’s fun; I promise!)

Went here for the first time tonight and it was so much fun! Upbeat, energetic instructors really helped us have a great time and made sure no ones paintings looked awful. And they’re generous to boot — tonight was a charity night and they donated ALL of their proceeds to a great cause. Can’t beat that.

So much fun! Our instructor, Jessica, was great guiding you through the steps to create a piece of art you could be proud of. And what a fun way to spend time with your friends!

So much fun. You will go in feeling intimidated but leave feeling like Picasso. The instructor, Rachelle, was so friendly and fun. It is in a cute area right off downtown Grapevine so it would be perfect for a girls night or a date night.

My wife and I spent our Saturday evening painting sunflowers at Painting with a Twist. It was lots of laughs and fun. It is also a byob event and is great for a date night. $ 35 per person.

Definitely a fun outing with the girls and easy instructions for almost anyone to paint. I went with my mom, cousin, and aunt in celebration of my mom’s birthday. Only drawback (and this is just because of my personality) is that I was getting annoyed by all of the talking and giggling. I’m not the drinking, giggly type and was holding my breath between strokes while trying hard to concentrate. I don’t know how people can talk and concentrate on their painting at the same time. As the instructor was wrapping up the class and trying to get everyone’s attention, all of the women kept talking, and out of habit, I snapped my finger, teacher-​style, which prompted one lady’s mouth to shut and dash back to her painting area. Thank goodness we had our own table seeing as that we were the only 4 water-​drinking, serious type-​As in the room. If I’m paying $ 35 for my painting, I’m not going to be cackling, sippin’ booze, and carelessly slinging my paintbrush around.

This is the best way to spend an afternoon with your girlfriends! I have very limited artistic ability, but I still keep coming back for more paintings! It is so much fun to bring a few snacks, a bottle of wine and attempt to paint a picture. The instructors are awesome and so patient. I have to remind myself to relax, because that is when I paint better. The wine helps! It is so much fun spending time with your friends and meeting new people. It is quite a bonding experience. At the end, the whole class takes a picture together. It is so much fun to see all the different ways everyone painted the same picture.

Lots of fun. Can’t say that my artwork ended up all that great but the experience with friends was a hell of a lot of fun, you can bring food and alcoholic beverages, and Esparza’s is right across the street for the post-​masterpiece margarita. Already working on scheduling another outing!

I recommend this place over all of the drinking and painting locations around the area. They have the easiest way to sign up online, and the best prices.
Overall I think the staff is so friendly and when you’re finished you can go have a drink at Esparzas right across the street! Or go shopping at one of the historical downtown Grapevine shops.
Great location, great experience

I love Painting With A Twist, especially this Grapevine location! I’ve been here twice now and it’s been a great experience. I hosted two small Ladies’ Night outings and I ask the gals to bring drinks, snacks, etc to share. This location provides cups/​plates, corkers/​ice to chill drinks. PWAT provides everything else you need for a fun evening– Aprons, Paint, Canvas, Setup, etc.
I also LOVE Painting with a Twist because I recently heard of their «S.O.S Day» where once a month anyone can come in for free with their previous canvas that they made and they can finish it up, touch it up, or fix it however they’d like. The instructors there during this time were so great and helped me fix up 3 of my paintings, one needed minor touch-​up and I wanted to paint the edges, and one I absolutely disliked before but after the help I got, it’s my new favorite painting!
Colleen is the owner and she’s wonderful to work with when you’re organizing group outings. There’s many different art instructors that work here– Monica is the art instructor I had the last time I came in and I love how helpful she is and really appreciate the fun environment that she helps create. I cannot wait to come back!

Such a fun place. I am going to try the Mckinney location. We came in with a group of 8 people… very laid back. The door was left open so the cool spring breeze was blowing in… just perfect. You can bring your own spirits, and so we did! If Jessica thought anyone was being too serious, she’d ring a bell which was everyone’s que to take a sip! This is a great GNO, date, or even an opportunity to socialize solo (they have open group nights). I will return. Great way to relax, be creative if you like, and just have fun. Go!

A night filled with giggling and painting? Totally my cup of tea. They provide all the painting materials for a flat rate of $ 35 and you can bring all the snacks and drinks you want. The class was three hours long but it flew by pretty quickly. I was extremely surprised by how quickly my painting dried out. I was worried about transporting a wet painting. :) It was definitely a fun activity that I would love to do again.

If you are looking for something different to do whether it be with your beau or group of friends, this offers fun, drinking and a chance to show off your artistic ability!
My boyfriend and I celebrated a special evening at painting with a twist and he was pleasantly surprised to have enjoyed it too.
They also have certain days and times that are kid friendly with no drinking. So, I would say it can be family oriented too.

My fiancé bought me a gift card so I could paint here. He dropped me off with a bottle of wine and I had a great time painting! By the end I was very relaxed and my painting turned out great. The teacher was very fun and helpful. I loved it so much I want to start my bachelorette party here! Even for those with no artistic background, it was great!

A good friend of mine and I played catch up here while we drank and painted. It was such a good time! The artist/​instructors are really fun too. They ring a bell when its ‘time’ to take a drink throughout the evening and they encourage you not to take the project too seriously. I had my doubts about how the final product would turn out, but the artist’s are really good instructors and my painting wasn’t horrible. Yay! Though, after I was finished I could see how I could have done a better job… and that’s what got me hooked. I’m going to the Dallas location tonight and am anticipating another fun and relaxing experience. This is a great place to go with a girlfriend and do more than the usual happy hour or dinner. You leave feeling productive… if not also a bit loopy. Oh and you leave with your own personal piece of art. :)

A friend told me about Pinot & Picasso in Houston and I was jealous that they didn’t have one here in Dallas. Then I see a Groupon one day for Painting with a Twist (PWAT) and I couldn’t be more excited! There are several PWAT locations through Dallas, but the Groupon was for the Grapevine location.
We had a GREAT first experience painting the UT tower — we brought dinner, snacks, and a bottle of wine. They provide everything else — plastic cups, corkscrew, ice, and all the necessary painting materials (aprons, paint, brushes, etc). After you check in and pay, you are handed a canvas with a light outline in pencil, depending on what you’re painting. In our case, the outline of the UT tower. Once you get settled, the instructor guides you with exactly where you’re supposed to start painting, how, and the different techniques to use. The acrylic dries quickly, so you can always go back and fix a mistake or something you didn’t like!
The two hours FLEW by and our instructor would remind us from time to time to take a sip of wine and sit back. The weekend sessions are 3 hours & $ 10 more (2 hour sessions are $ 35). I couldn’t have had a better time — and that was obvious, because we came back for round 2!
Be sure to let Colleen, the owner, know you’re arriving with a group so you can be seated together. Our class was almost sold out! You can also let her know if there’s a specific painting you’d like for her to schedule a session for. They also have «SOS» classes once a month for you to go back and touch up any painting if you’d like — free of charge, only a RSVP required. I’m pretty sure we’re hooked and would be going every week if time and money allowed for it!
