Scraps Dog Bakery

I just found this place in the corner shopping place and when I walked in there it was very cute and smelt amazing especially for what pet shop. The people that work there a very friendly and everything is reasonably priced and I got the cutest dog cake! I can’t wait to get home and spoil my dig for her birthday!

I’m sure others love the place, but I won’t be going back. Have you ever encountered a business where staff makes it clear that the owners’ profit is more important than the customers’ experiences and needs? This is one. Their stock is generally overpriced in the first place (but we usually don’t mind paying for good quality stuff purchased locally from responsible friendly merchants) I’ve purchased several items there throughout the years, and several times came away with the feeling that my presence in the store wasn’t particularly valued, eg, I asked about a not-​in-​stock food item and the first words out of the clerk’s mouth were how much trouble the additional time and costs to them to get it for me. Sorry I bothered you. Similarly, staff was too quick to tell me how much trouble it would be to take a return if I didn’t pick out the right size. Etc.
The final straw happened last week. We had a late Christmas get together (Jan 17) with a friend where she gave my dogs a small bag of Christmas biscuits. Upon opening them, they were completely coated with half inch long green mold threads. So I took them back two days later to ask for a replacement. Scraps staff, instead of understanding that the small cost of producing a few biscuits was nothing in exchange for keeping a customer happy, blew me off. The clerk said, rather unpleasantly, «we tell people to leave the bag open when they buy them» (which BTW my friend told me she HAD done, had just closed them up before our get-​together) and just looked at me with that ‘tough shit lady, we already got our money out of the deal” look. I left the moldy bag on the counter for her to dispose of.
For the tiny costs of producing a couple of biscuits (I know, we like to make them at home), or token something, or apology, they could have made a happy loyal customer. But they didn’t.
Scraps Grass Valley, you need to work on making your clientele feel more valued and less like a vehicle for you to squeeze money out of (for nothing in return in this case) for your own purposes! Your staff also needs to improve its customer service skills, and/​or you should not be selling perishable items in non-​perishable packaging with no labeling to inform the customer they’re going to rot.
Although I would really like to trade with them, this greedy business now has one less customer. And I don’t look forward to telling my friend what happened to her (what should have been) nice gift to my dogs.

Treats for my dog baby at home! I always miss my dog and wish he could come with us on vacation too! However Hawaii has strict quarantine laws and it would mean 3 months without my dog baby instead of just 2 weeks.
My son always thinks about his brother too and we always try to find Keebler some treats. We saw a bumper sticker with this place (back when we were in Nevada city) and decided to check this place out. I was more excited when it was only a short five minute drive away. Watch out though it’s in a neighborhood mall but it’s tucked away in the corner.
We get in and it’s definitely your mom and pop neighborhood pet store/​bakery. We immediately go check out the dog treats in the bakery. They have cool flavors and in cool shapes too (mint frogs)! They do not have preservatives so it will only last two weeks and even then she said it will be extremely crunchy. I hope they’re still good for Keebler when we see him!
The woman working was friendly but not overly friendly (maybe that’s a mainland thing). She was willing to help us out pick out good treats for our dog. I am not sure if my dog will love the treats hence the 4 not 5 stars. If it’s completely amazing, I will update later! I can’t wait to give them to him! :)

I go here for my puppy. Small store locally owned and they are the same price for her food as the big store I used to go to :)
