Mr. Skow is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) who provides a continuum of comprehensive mental health services for young adult and adult populations who have a designated primary psychological diagnosis according to DSM V. Treatment modalities include individual, group, couples and family treatment depending on the needs of each patient. He specializes in addressing the distinct needs of dually diagnosed individuals who have both a mental illness and alcohol/​drug/​video game abuse problem.

Mr. Skow specializes in emotional disturbances, low self-​esteem, relationship issues and video game addiction. Whether you need open-​ended therapy emphasizing self-​exploration and personal growth or a more focused approach, his aim is to provide an environment that is validating, non-​judgmental, and genuine, while at the same time encourage effective change. Mr. Skow serves as the lead behavioral health clinician in the substance abuse outpatient program at Phoenix House, based on the campus of Pilgrim State Psychiatric in Brentwood, NY.

Mr Skow earned his Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling with honors from Touro College and completed his Master’s of Business Administration at Hofstra University. He is currently a member of the American Counseling Association and supporter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America where he donates his time to helping young adults cope with the emotional challenges of these diseases.

He had previously served as a valuable resource for the treatment team at the Charles K. Post addiction treatment center where he supported other behavioral health counselors and substance abuse specialists in providing personalized recovery oriented services to a diverse demographic that included dually diagnosed men and women ages 18 and older.
