Cellcom Green Bay Marathon

State #4 on my 50 state marathon journey was Wisconsin and as a loyal Packer fan I was SO excited for this marathon. How could I not be? You end the marathon with a lap around Lambeau field and running through Packer tunnel before heading to the finish line. Sweeeet! Go Pack go! (Had to get it in!)
The event itself is very well organized and supported! We went to the expo the day before the race and although I thought it was weird that the packet pick up and T-​shirt pick up were on different floors the expo was still good and held within the Lambeau field atrium. That same day we got the chance to separately take a tour of Lambeau field which was AWESOME. If you are a Packers fan and traveling from outside the area this was a good event to do alongside the marathon. Just do it — it will be worth it.
Anyways — the marathon itself offered shuttles from runners from nearby hotels — this was a huge plus and something we took advantage of. Runners and family members were allowed on. The course itself is nice… Fast, flat and beautiful. A bit curvy but still great. And with a lap around city stadium and Lambeau field what else could you ask for? Even with it being at the end and knowing how badly you want to finish at that point Lambeau was without a doubt a highlight of the race!
Add stations were spot on throughout the course with port potties, plenty of water and Gatorade, GU, popsicle stations, root beer stations, chocolate stations (Which I skipped the last 3 but still way cool). Crowd support was awesome! We also lucked out and had perfect running weather… Chilly 45ish at the start but ended in the mid 60s.

All in all a wonderful event! I’d do it again and would recommend it without a doubt!

DISCLAIMER: I did NOT run the marathon, nor the half marathon. I was a spectator! My husband and his cousin ran the half marathon last weekend. The overall course is very well thought out and very well put together. It was easy for me to walk from one point (mile 4) to the last point (mile 10) to cheer on our team. Not only that — the runners can do a lap around Lambeau Field! How cool is that?
The day before the marathon I was able to go with my husband to check out the Expo, held at Lambeau Field. There’s a ton of vendors available to the runners. There is a 5K race available for us «non-​elite» runners, which you can run the day before. They also offer a kids run. The whole community rally’s around this event.
Not only is the community support fantastic, the volunteers are very helpful. Honestly, it’s inspiring to see this much support behind the runners.
We’ll be back next year — and heck, maybe I’ll be running it. :)

I have run this marathon twice (and planning again in 2012) and I will admit it is one of the best run races that I have entered. Great level of service and the volunteers are helpful. The course is relatively flat and well attended. The lap around Lambeau Field is great but let’s be honest, at that point, all you want to do is finish (note: Due to construction, there will be no lap around the field in 2012)

Flat, fast, nice course. A great feature is a lap inside Lambeau Field – run where the Packers run!
Lots of events for the friends traveling with you – a half marathon, a relay, and lots of shorter events on Saturday, too. It’s a really well organized race.
The Expo is held in the Lambeau Field atrium which is a fun spot too.
And, I’ve never been offered a beer and a brat after the finish line!
