Wyndham Canoa Ranch Resort

A group of friends wanted to go into Nogales and Tubac for some shopping and we decided to stay in Green Valley at the Wyndham. My husband and I reserved a King Suite for our stay. We got there early Saturday morning and found out that our King Suite was actually a full on Condo with a beautiful kitchen, dinning room, spacious living room and great master bedroom and bathroom. We were located on the lower level with a beautiful view. The hotel receptionist Jan was awesome. She recommended a great restaurant in Tubac. Although we were there for just one night, it was so relaxing. We enjoyed it so much we are going again in July to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Thank to all the staff at the hotel and restaurant for making this a great stay.

My suite was nice but the elevator to it seemed sketchy the room is good but the pull out couch was uncomfortable

Nice hotel, terrible customer service. Had an email recipt for my booking, and they doubled the price once I arrived to pay. They offered no solution. Would never return

We hit the jackpot w/​this place! We booked a suite amd it was furnished/​decorated beautifully, came stocked w/​cleaning supplies, was clean, had super comfy bed, fireplace, garden tub, balcony w/​breathtaking views… the list goes on!
Fitness center was small, but had what we needed and the pool/​jacuzzi was great!
Breakfast buffet was complimentary across the street at the golf clubhouse. The omelet guy was awesome!
Brian, the manager, was more than accommodating and saw to it our experience was a great one.

Not worth the price or time.
The rooms are incredibly small for over $ 100. The rooms have a strong oder in them as if the sheets haven’t been washed in months. There are no nearby stores or many restaurants. If you come to this hotel, you’re only coming here to sleep, not explore. (Because there is nothing nearby)

The Wyndham Canoa Ranch is a pretty nice hotel! Our room was very spacious, and included free wi-​fi and a mini-​fridge, plus free breakfast at the golf course across the street. It was priced to compete with the budget hotels, but it was much nicer than they usually are!
One thing to keep in mind is that this hotel is next to *absolutely nothing*. Green Valley already has nothing going on except for golf and retiring, and this hotel is at the very southern edge of Green Valley (just empty desert past the hotel property!!). Expect to drive several kilometers on the freeway before you can even find a McDonald’s. (Yes, that’s right, kilometers … for some reason, kms are used on this section of I-​19!).
A few minor gripes limit this place to four stars, but nothing really major… all of the parking spots closest to our room were marked «reserved,» but no one ever parked there during our stay. The free breakfast was really meh. The curtains and the sink faucet could use a little bit of maintenance, but still worked just fine. The fitness center looked just like a normal hotel room, except with treadmills and bikes instead of furniture. Nothing really made our stay unpleasant, but I think they have the potential to be a 5-​star place!
Overall, we still really liked the room and would stay there again.

I stayed here for a week for Christmas 2012 with no problems. This year was a whole different story.
First and foremost — NO HOT WATER. When a family of six books a two-​bedroom suite, you’d expect that people can take showers one after the other and not have any problems. The hot water lasted for about 7 minutes each time and went cold, fast. We called up maintenance and they gave us a bunch of «uhmm we can’t do anything» and had the nerve to tell us that we should space our showers 30 minutes apart. Seriously? Because my family LOVES having a 3.5 hour prep time in the morning when we’re on a tight schedule for a 22-​family member vacation. All they had to do was unlock the door to the hot water heater, turn the knob so it adds more hot water to the tank, and lock the door. Idiots.
Second, the toilet in the second bedroom never wanted to flush. It would think about flushing, then give up. You’d have to flush it 2 – 3 times for it to work and half the time it acted like it wanted to overflow.
Third, the light in the master bathroom didn’t work.
Fourth, the food at the buffet is pretty bleh. The omelet lady does a good job, but the potatoes weren’t even cooked all the way and they don’t restock anything if you get there past 10am (say goodbye to raisins and spinach).
Fifth, my boyfriend and my dad asked to split the bill for our stay, and sure enough they saddled my boyfriend with the whole cost. It’s like a bunch of pineapples are running the show around there.
Sixth, they put DVD players in each room but there’s no friggan’ CORD THAT CONNECTS IT TO THE TELEVISION. WHAT IS THE POINT?!
This place is just a myriad of disappointments.

Friendly, efficient and attentive staff.
Our room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. A great value. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite. Fully furnished including the kitchen. 2 ½ baths and a washer/​dryer.
There are vending machines with reasonably priced drinks and snacks in the main lobby but I would definitely recommend bringing your own drinks and snacks since the restaurant closes at 8am and all other dining options are 5 – 6 miles away.

It was an overall fantastic Time! We went for my best friends bachelorette party and thank goodness they have FREE local and long distance US, CANADA, MEXICO because we ended up loosing all of our phones and breaking them. The service is great and wonderful people to work with! Could not have asked for a better place to stay! Also the complementary breakfast was so delicious, homemade omelettes and everything! Also free WIFI!

Wonderful place to stay. I am fortunate to stay here while working in the area. Good breakfast at the Golf Course «Grill on the Green», also good for dinner. Staff is friendly and courteous.
Exercise room is decent, I really enjoy the pool and spa.
Hard to find late night food as it is mainly a senior/​golfing community. I am not much of a golfer but the course looks nice.

What a pleasant place to stay in Green Valley!
Stayed at this hotel because we had a family reunion in the area. They were so accommodating & put all our family members that had booked with the hotel in the same building… made it so easy to go back & forth to rooms especially with our elderly grandma who everyone was helping to care for.
The rooms are relatively big in comparison to other hotels I’ve stayed in. I stayed in a 2 queen room. We had a walk-​in closet & a big bathroom. The shower was huge
too.
The only 2 complaints that made me knock it down a star were the windows in the room & the huge water heater in the closet. The windows are nice but I was on the first floor and from my window I could see the entrance into our building and people walking by or sitting on the couches… a little weird if you are sleeping in during the morning with curtains open or if you are changing. The big closet made it easy just to dress in there though with privacy. The water heater in the closet was weird also. While it didn’t really take up that much room… it took up enough for me to go «Wtf?! «when I walked in to the closet.
I would stay here again easily. If you are in Green Valley or Tucson area visiting or needing a place to stay, book with them! Friendly service, comfy beds & spacious rooms await.

This is a review about the golf course itself, not so much about the Wyndham or the restaurant facilities. When this course was first built (I think about a dozen years ago) it was beautiful and a real treat for the area which boasts at least twelve other golf courses before you start going into Tucson for an even larger selection of courses. It is designed around the old territorial ranch (Canoa Ranch) that was sold and developed into a large housing development of many many winter and year round homes. The original developers got into financial troubles with the golf course and sold the property along with another Green Valley course to a successful restaurateur in Tucson. From the very day the new owner took over, the golf course started suffering from lack of upkeep and it has only gone down hill steadily ever since. The fairways border so much desert that the desert has taken over. The sand traps are more of a joke than an obstacle for the game as hard pack and running water through the traps make them impossible to play. They seldom seem to afford enough grass seed for the annual over-​seeding, and the resulting fairways are about as thin as you can imagine most of the year. The greens are usually so dried out that it is the kind of track that should probably take a hint from it’s neighbor a few miles east, San Ignacio and just close the doors rather than pretend to be a year round resort. The views are spectacular and the clubhouse is a good food and beverage facility for the people who live there, but as far as golf is concerned, driving a half hour down the road to Tubac Resort will make for happier golf times for visitors to this area.

I stayed here in January 2011. It was wonderful. The service was excellent, the pool and views are gorgeous, the rooms are spacious and clean. Very quiet and comfortable.

First off, I have never stayed at this hotel, I just play the course. That being said, I’m a big fan of this golf course. The course itself is beautiful, the difficulty is way beyond my capabilities as a very amateur golfer, but the price is right on my budget. They have a great military discount, so if you’re calling to make a tee-​time and you’re military, make sure you tell them ahead of time. All the staff is very friendly and more than willing to help. And the lady that drives the drink cart makes a mean bloody mary. After 18 holes on this course, you feel like you’ve run a marathon, especially if you lose as many balls as I do in 18 holes.

I’m a fan of this place, because it is the best place to stay in Green Valley. The rooms are immaculate, with granite coutertops, walk-​in closets and all the furninshings made comfortable enough to have an extended visit, if you like. I would say the only downfalls are that it isn’t actually a resort yet. The «spa» and «fitness» ares are merely just unused one-​bedroom rooms that have been converted to paint your nails or go on one of thier couple pieces of gym equipment. If you know GV at all, this is definitely one of the finer, newest places to stay, but still isn’t up to resort standards in comparison to other parts of the country.

My family stayed here for a family Reunion. We had a total of 40 people staying in several different rooms. Our reunion was in Late July which leave Green Valley about half of the winter population. However, this time of the year is my favorite as I love the afternoon monsoon seasons!
The pool was nice (a little warm for the time of the year) we really could only tolerate the spa late at night, but the pool area closes at 10 pm. Our balconies had a wonderful view of the golf course, pool area and the mountains. I spent many of the nights on my 3^rd floor balcony taking pictures of the lightning shows!
The rooms really are like condos. We had a full kitchen with fridge, stove, oven, blender, rice cooker, plates, pans, etc. Came with a washer and dryer and 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. One of the bathrooms had a deep sunk tub that was heaven on vacation!
One night we reserved the bbq and patio area and BBqed 15 steaks!
We met many of the «regulars» of the resort, whom either own a condo there or have family with one. Very friendly people!

Contrary to Brian’s review, I did have a handheld showerhead and our water got really hot!
Also the Grill across the parking lot, has some scrumptious food as well!

Good: Service was excellent. Front desk staff was always so nice whenever we walked through the front door. When my husband and I stopped swimming the pool bc there were too many bugs in it, the guy that was cleaning the filters walked over to us and apologized and said they were going to clean it. The place was really clean and the setting was really pretty.
Bad: There is NOTHING in Green Valley. We did eat a nice restaurant called Solaris which was a couple exits away. Everything is at least 3 exits away. The gym AND spa are located in one of the rooms. When u walk through the door for the gym, u quickly realize that they put the workout room in the living room. Literally. It’s a couple of machines on carpet right across from the kitchen. Through a door way you can see someone getting her nails getting done. It was very odd. I wouldn’t call this a resort/​spa. OH! I almost forgot. Every morning at 7am, you would hear the construction going on right outside the window. The elevator is ridicullously slow. I mean it– we laughed every time. We started taking the stairs. There were 3 floors and the only ice machine was on the second floor.

While visiting my aunt and uncle in Green Valley, we stqayed at the Windom near their house. The room was potless. However, I just wish they had a stationary showerhead instead of a handheld one and that their water wouldn’t get too hot whenever wanting warm water. The front desk staff is very nice. We didn’t take adventage of the pool, jacusie, or fire pits as we were so busy; next time. So, for an excellent, clean, and comfortable room at a reasonable rate with wonderful amenities, Windom cannot be beat. Keep up the good work guys.

For the value, this is a no-​brainer. Not a lot of options in Green Valley, but if you are visiting your mom/grandparent…call and ask for the Green Valley resident discount-​we stayed in a fantastic, huge room with view, fridge, coffee, great shower and bed and huge balcony for $ 79/​night. Unheard of! Highly recommended. On a golf course and on Wednesdays-​$ 2 hamburgers and $ 2 wine, beer and mixed drinks at the restaurant. Great place at a great price. Clean especially. Pool has a fire pit and pretty lights on the palm trees.
