Alterations To Go

I highly recommend this place. I have 4 Zegna jackets that I bought 2 years ago. They still looked brand new. However, they looked a bit too long now as the latest fashion is «shorter» and «slimmer». It was difficult to shorten one of the jackets as the pockets were outside. I was very happy to see the altered jackets looking as it they came straight from Zegna. The owner was also very pleasant to deal with. I asked her why some old customers didn’t give her a good review. She mentioned she bought the store 3 years ago. Since then, customer satisfaction has been excellent.

I highly recommend this place! My mom bought me a suit from Nordstrom for a Thanksgiving event. Unfortunately, the suit is slightly large in some areas. The store told me that it will take between one to two weeks for the alteration. However, I needed it way sooner.
My mom brought me to see Snow. Snow is kind, friendly and very professional to work with. She spotted all of my trouble areas: shoulder take in, shorten sleeves, and take in the sides. With that amount of work, I did not have confidence that it will be ready for my Thanksgiving function. Snow assured me she would have it back to me in two days. To my surprise, she had gotten it done on time and at a fair price.
I received many compliments on my suit and it fits like a charm. I high recommend this place and especially Snow.

As multiple reviews stated. Female counter person very rude. I brought in a tee shirt to have 7 1in by 2in numbers sewn on the shirt. In my opinion very expensive but I said yes. Was told I would receive a call when ready, never happened. Picked up t shirt 10 Days later. 1 week later I returned to determine what they could do to Center the numbers as originally discussed. I was given a terse lecture on why the position of the numbers is EXACTLY where I wanted them since I pinned them. Which was never offered and never happened. Refused to except any responsibility and/​or suggest what could be done to correct it. She wanted nothing to to with MY problem. Will never return and guide all my friends to think twice regarding this establishment.

This place must have new management because the woman I met yesterday at 5:30pm could not have been nicer. I’ve had the same seamstress in Mill Valley for many years and she was wonderful but lately, unless I bring in a pair of pants to hem or something similarly simple, she just says that she can’t do it. I can usually talk her into it but it’s been getting tiresome. The last straw was when I brought in a costume that needed an invisible zipper installed. She told me she could do it and then, once I put it on said it was impossible (and I had to come back three times to find this out because she wasn’t available the other two times!). I was so upset because I counted on her and wouldn’t be able to wear the dress without alteration. SO I went looking for alternatives, enter Alterations to Go. The woman who I spoke to on the phone was wonderful and when I got to the shop she continued to be kind, curious, and professional. She invited me to try the dress on and then, after looking it over said, okay, I can make it perfect but it will be a little costly, do you want to do that for a costume? I so appreciated her honesty, candor, and willingness to really work with me. She talked me through exactly what she would do, I consented, and she pinned it all so it fit like a glove. After her kind and attentive service, she still gave me a fair price and I walked away feeling much, much happier. I haven’t seen the alteration yet, and I will update this review when I do, but so far I have been thoroughly impressed by the customer service at Alterations to Go.

They’ve been great on jobs large and small.
My most recent visit I took in a reversible wool blanket coat that moths had started to make mincemeat of. I love this coat and didn’t want to lose it. So I took it in.
They do «invisible reweaving» and when they say invisible, they mean it.
They gave me a quote which was reasonable but the amount of work they had to do.
I picked up the coat and couldn’t believe it – I could not see how they’d fixed it, it just looked right.
Now – this is a major accomplishment because 1) the coat is reversible, 2) the bottoms of the pockets had been eaten, so they basically had to reconstruct them, and 3) there are fields of solid color where fixed might be evident, but they weren’t.
They saved my favorite coat and did it PERFECTLY. Thank you!

I’ve had several jobs handled by this shop so far, and both of the women I’ve met there have been super-​helpful and friendly. Sometimes they are so busy that you have to wait a few minutes, but I’m amazed that they handle all the work that they do. Folks work extra hours, sometimes make arrangements so you can pick things up on Sunday when they are closed… honestly, I think they bend over backwards to help their customers.
All three of my jobs — hemming, patches — were done perfectly. One was turned around in 24 hours at my request. Strongly recommended.

Just like their name says… these folks are fast. I have an overcoat that had sprung holes in each of its pockets. I needed them fixed. I called, they said bring it right in. I did, and it was done (and done right) in less time than it took me to get coffee at Starbucks in Mollie Stone’s. And the price was totally reasonable.

This place sucks and so does their customer service. Took an item to them to have two button holes added and they totally screwed it up, charged $ 30 and wanted to charge again to fix the problem. Horrible business. Never went back to them again and never will.

I started this journey by having an appointment at an alteration store in Bön Air which was horrible. The lady made such a big deal about everything and said that
she would not do this alteration for ANY price. She was so rude. I literally walked
out with the dress in my arms. It is now after 6 PM. What do I do?
Seriously, Snow saved me. Snow was closed, it was at about 6:10. She opened the
door for us, said that she could have it done by Friday.
There was a lot of fabric. She stood my daughter up, took very careful measurements
and was extremely precise. She promised she would have it ready for the
wedding.
On Friday I realized that one of the formal black dresses for the wedding
rehearsal had to be altered.
I arrived with the dress… desperate. Snow looked at it, and said it will be
ready the next morning.
Fair price. Excellent work. Snow is absolutely lovely. Patient and
just a sweetheart.
Had it not been for her, the bridesmaid dress could not be worn and the
glamorous black dress was falling off.
It was the best outcome for 2 potential huge disasters.

I just found Alterations To Go on Unilocal and took in a skirt to be hemmed. She did a great job in a short amount of time for a reasonable price. I was so impressed I brought back a pair of shorts that I had bought a pattern for and cut out but had not sewn together. I asked her if she could make the shorts for me. She did and did such an outstanding job for a reasonable price that I will definitely be giving her more business. I highly recommend Alterations To Go.

I LOVE this place! They’ve just altered a sweater and a tunic for me that fit unbelievable well now. The woman who greeted me when I walked in and fitted my clothing had beautiful energy — kind, warm, inviting. It was a pleasure to and deal with her. In fact, I’m bringing a shirt in today and do so with full confidence that when I pick it up it will fit perfectly. So please disregard the bad reviews under the previous owner and give this place a try — you won’t be sorry.

I’ve had things altered here for years and it was always satisfactory, but not anymore! Brought in a long dress (of my 17 year old daughter’s) to be hemmed up 4″ and to have elastic removed from the back. The owner was very nice and seemed knowledgeable. The owner called the next day and wanted my daughter to come in to give her opinion on changing up the elastic. My daughter went in at 4:00 that day and the owner wasn’t there, just a man who spoke so little English that he couldn’t communicate anything to my daughter. I talked to the owner again the next day and she and I worked it out but it would have been better for my daughter to be able to give input, which we no longer had time for as we needed the dress the next day. I called the afternoon that she was to pick up the dress and wanted to give my credit card over the phone to pay but the same gentleman was there and said he didn’t know how to process a credit card over the phone (really??). Picked up the dress, paid $ 55, it looked just okay — some sloppy stitching in the back, my daughter put the dress on 30 minutes before she had to leave for her event AND THEY HADN’T HEMMED IT!!! I’ll be calling in the morning for a refund, and never going back.

I have taken several pairs of pants here for alteration. Snow is wonderful, is always friendly and knows her stuff. Prices are not cheap, but reasonable for the quality of the work.

Excellent work! I will be returning there in the future and I recommend them to others. My husband took 6 pairs of slacks to get hemmed and brought in. Every pair was done right the first time and on time. They fit perfectly and look great.

I used to go here frequently with my alterations, and they did a good job at fair price. Then I think the place must have been sold because all of a suddent things went totally downhill. Not only is the woman at the counter totally unfriendly (seriously if you hate it so much, work somewhere else), they couldn’t find a dress I brought in when I came to get it. They told me they would look for it and call me — if they found it, they’d alter it for free. If not, they’d reimburse me for the dress. No call ever came, so I stopped by a few weeks later. They’d found the dress, which was great, but were so unapologetic, and then proceeded to try to charge me for it! I don’t think so. Drop stuff off there at your own risk.

The woman is rude and unhelpful. The minor alterations I paid for were crappy.

I wish I could pick zero stars. Everything about this place, except the convenient location, is wrong.
The staff is not friendly, they actually seemed annoyed to have people coming in to have some work done. The pants I dropped off wee altered to the correct length, but the thread they chose was not a great match to the original.
And, they have a sign in the window (or did when I was last there) advertising quick turn around — when you ask for quick they say one week — not quick. The name «Alterations to go» really implies speed — nice work on naming your business. The only name that would be mroe misleading would be if they named it «Fiendly Alterations.»

This place definitely deserves ZERO stars. The woman who works there is so f-​ing rude, it’s UNBELIEVABLE.
I needed a pair of jeans altered, it’s close to my house, so I went there. Upon walking in, there was a woman standing there and she didn’t greet or acknowlege me. I asked the woman how much to alter jeans and she barked the price. I handed her the jeans and she said «next week!» in the same rude, barking tone. I replied in a polite manner that I needed them in 3 days because I was going out of town and could they be done by then? She didn’t respond and said «name?!» Again, I can’t stress the rude demeanor and tone.
Anyhow, the jeans were done in time and the hem was fine but I will never set foot into the place again.

Came in one day carrying my leather jacket with a torn belt loop. I know leather jackets usually are specialty jobs but I came in anyway hoping they would be able to help me.
I barely finished a sentence when the woman shook her head and started shoo-​ing me away as if I were a lost cat. She said they don’t do leather jackets (said this to me with the matching shoo wave) and that I have to take it to a specialty store.
No smile, no suggestions. Seems like she could not wait to get me out of there, and this was when the place was completely empty (I may have just found out the reason why).
Needless to say, I am NOT coming back to try out their alteration skills. With that service, I’m not even going to peek in.

Poor service, over-​priced, sloppy attention to detail. I took my blazer here because it’s convenient to my office — for a simple sleeve shortnening. Also, what tailor doesn’t have a steamer or press to return your garment in presentable condition? Never again.
