The Learning Shop gets a bad rap as being pricey or unpractical, but a recent visit proved to that their prices on many thing were comparable to Toys R’ Us and their selection blows Toys R’ Us out of the water. If you’re looking for lego sets, this is the place to go. You will find quality items here that you won’t find elsewhere — they’re selection of puppets is unparalleled. I also love their craft section. They have an amazing amount of boxed craft sets and projects and the prices are reasonable. I bought crafting ideas for my niece there for years. They are also involved in the community, which I appreciate. They invite non-profits in to wrap presents during the holiday season and match the tips they receive and all money goes to the non-profit. It’s a great service for the customer and great exposure for the groups wrapping. They give a teacher’s discount and have a great teacher’s area, but don’t be afraid to go exploring back there even if you don’t teach. I don’t have children and I could see that this wouldn’t be your go-to store for things for your own kids, but I love going here to find unique gifts. I’ve never walked out empty-handed. As mentioned in another review, the staff is fabulous. They’re friendly and extremely knowledgeable. This isn’t high-school kids with no interest in the product — the ladies are involved in the mission of the store and are a great resource for suggestions.

The Learning Shop is a great store near Southridge Mall that specializes mainly in toys for«learning»! You know, Legos, science kits like make your own slime, Melissa & Doug puzzles; all good for gifts to make you that great Uncle or Aunt, or even parent! Service here is helpful, and the store is run by a cadre of those red hat kind of older ladies that live life after 50… they’re sharp kittens, and they know their store! I liked the books section with the«Who Was…» series. Got a book report on Amelia Earhart or just undying curiosity? Well, they’ve got a book for that. And a whole slough of famous people! I think there’s an educator’s discount here, and there’s a large section of educator’s materials. Prices here are not as cheap as say, Target, but the Learning Shop has everything under one roof, and I like that unique stores like the Learning Shop exist.
