Half Price Books

This is a really good Half Price Books — we don’t stop too often because Brookfield is closer, but when we do I always leave with several items.
The Brookfield store might be a little bigger and nicer (they have a few couches near the register for reading) but I personally think the book stock in Greenfield is more varied. On my most recent visit, I scored a book on advertising posters in perfect condition as well as an interesting 1937 «Year in Photos» book from Germany. Both were reasonably priced, and as a bonus everything in the store was an extra 20% off!
If you’re a music/​movies person, Brookfield seems to have more of that available. Staff is pleasant and helpful if you need advice.

There are a lot of books, movies, and music to choose from. If you take your time and browse through the shelves, you will find some gems.
The books are reasonably priced because it is at a Half Price Bookstore.

I love this place, where else can you go and find old over looked gems for super cheap! I cant believe I found an Aphex Twin album for $ 2 today! 1% of you may know who Aphex twin is but trust me its pretty rare to find his music new or used and for $ 2 never the less.

For years, I was unsure of what exactly this place was… New? Used? Textbooks?
Finally went in and was pleasantly surprised to learn that the answer to all of the above was YES!!! Then saw movies, cds and games on the shelves. Whaaaaat? Wow!
No matter what subject you are interested in, they have at least one book for it and, if not, they know where to find it.
You can also sell your books to the store. You won’t get diddly squat for them, but even 1 penny is more than you’d get by simply donating them!
When in doubt about a gift, a gift card here is always a great option.

I can’t wait to go back and had even the most obscure book that I was looking for I will check it often you can ask for help whenever you need it the booksellers are enthusiastic andu knowledgeable

I really like going here and this particular location isn’t too far from where I live. I like how I have never once had a bad customer service experience here. They’re always more than willing to help me find something in the store (no matter how busy they are) and if they don’t have it, they offer to see what store (if any) does have it.
Half Price Books is the first place I go when looking for something and it’s the first place I recommend to other people when they mention they’re looking for a particular book.
I also like their wide selection of CDs, DVDs, records, etc. I have purchased several CDs from here and have never had an issue with any of them playing. They’ve all played excellently when I put them in my CD player in my car on play them on my laptop.
I have gone to other book stores where it’s like pulling teeth to get anyone to help you and if they don’t have what you’re looking for and you ask them to see if another one of their stores has that book, they give you dirty looks.

This is a books and more shop. They sell books, movies, video games, game consoles, and more! Everything is in great shape. They have almost any book you are looking for. They literally take the price down by half. They have fiction, non-​fiction, biographies, comics, and more! They sell tv show seasons too. You can buy and sell items here.
Half Price Books is a book thrift shop. Most of the stuff they sell is used. But if your lucky you may be able to find new books. They pay more for your books and movies than most stores do. It’s an easy way to buy a good book and get money for other unwanted books you may have.
They have tons if books lined up in the store. They even have a nice spot to sit and read a book.
This place is awsome! You need to give it a try.

I LOVE THIS BOOKSTORE! This is by far the best bookstore in Wisconsin! Its name says it all. Half price books. Books are half priced. It has new and used books. Records and movies. They pretty much have everything a book nerd like me, needs. I would only go to this bookstore to buy my books. I would not go to other places to get my books. The staff is friendly, and they will go out of their way to help the customer find an item they are looking for. That is why I am bigger than just a «fan» out there.

I absolutely swear by this place. If I ever want to purchase books or movies, this is the first place I check. Their DVDs are guaranteed, so if you have issues just bring it back and swap it out. The books are in great condition, and if they aren’t, they’re priced accordingly. They have an extensive clearance section of books for around $ 2.00!
They offer every section from self-​help to cooking. There are areas to sit and read as well. There are books on tape/​cd, blu rays and dvds, records, greeting cards, board games… you name it.
I recently brought in a few seasons I was over, they gave me $ 65.00 and completely covered my next round of purchases! Talk about recycling: D

This is my second-​favorite HPB in MKE.
I’m a hard-​core thrifter and used-​book/​game hunter. So I circle about to all of their locations at least weekly.
I also sell books and games to them, as I cycle through both quite often. They’re fair in their valuation. They pay about half of what Amazon will pay you for a textbook… sometimes that is worth it to avoid any hassle.
This store is a bit small, and feels cramped. They’re lacking in terms of space dedicated to board games, in my opinion. The two others do that better.
But it’s a treasure-​hunters minor dream. I’ve done well here.
Parking can be a bit dodgy, but it only means you have to walk a bit… the restaurant to the West of here is apparently quite popular, so they eat up most of this parking lot.

I visited this HPB last summer while on a Milwaukee trip, and I was impressed on how big the clearance section was. Bigger and less picked over, vs. other HPB locations I’ve been to (mostly in the Chicago area). And nice as always for a HPB store.

While my reading preferences might not be as diverse as some of you guys (most of my books have pictures and word bubbles), I do read quite a bit and I hate paying $ 30 for any book. This is why I love Half Price.
Books, CD’s, game systems, video games, comics, this place has it all, and for cheap!
I love to shop for graphic novels here. They have about 1 full shelf packed full of mostly Marvel, but also another shelf with DC and independents. While you might not find the Walking Dead Compendium here, you will find a mix of graphics anywhere from 2 to 20 years back.
Everything is well organized and easy to find. If you have trouble, find an employee and they will find it really quick if they have it. Customer service is usually pretty good here, although sometimes the lines at the register can get pretty long, especially during a sale.
They don’t pay top dollar here for most books or things you decide to sell. I guess that’s how they keep the prices down, but instead of selling, just do what I do and when you are finished with a book, just stick it in one of those little free libraries that are popping up all over the place.
Make sure to join the mailing list. They send/​email you really good coupons every 3 – 4 months.
As far as locations go, I’ve been to all of the Milwaukee area locations, and this one is better than Brown Deer and right on par with Brookfield. If I can’t find it here, I can find it at Brookfield and vice versa.

I drove down the twirly-​whirly streets of Dirty Stallis, passed the alleyways dotted with rummage sale signs, and went past the oceans of early 90’s Ford Escort wagons blasting Journey to reach: Greenfield.
I recently stopped in at this particular HPB due to :
1. The Exclusive Co is right next door, and it’s the only ‘local’ one my husband and I go to anymore
2. We were looking to browse and kill some time on a recent Saturday, so inside we went
3. Why not? I always find something at HPB.
The record selection is a LOT smaller than the Brookfield store, as is their CD selection. However, they did offer some 8-​tracks for sale. I’ve never seen those for sale at the Brookfield store. This particular location seemed to be a little smaller and out of date than the newer Brookfield one but that’s ok.
I purchased a used DVD of the movie «Bridesmaids,» but upon getting it home, there was a big scratch and the case was beat to SHIT. Oh, and it didn’t play in our BluRay player. It was just kind of gross. They took it back, no problem. Upon further inspection I’m glad I took it back — the DVD I paid for at HPB was $ 10.00 and you can get a brand new (wrapped) version from Target for the same price.
Additional purchase: The Isley Brothers «Primo Collection 2 CD set» for only $ 7.00. I shit you not. Also, it was brand new.
Interesting tidbit: they have an original «Butcher Cover» Beatles album for sale, for the low low price of $ 1500.00. Of course, see a sales associate for details, and I’m guessing the coupons you get in the mail wouldn’t apply for this particular item.
Scored: «My Dad’s A Bro,» a clearance book that will be going in our White Elephant Christmas Exchange. It was only a buck!
Friendly service and staff, well organized, and they seem to have a good selection of any Steven King book ever written. It’s all about finding the good deals.

Great prices on gently used books. I love the clearance section where I can find $ 1 books instead paying the $ 4 half price. Decent staff service. Be aware there are leeches in human form who spend hours looking up book prices on their iphone app, and you may think they are staff but they will snottily tell you no they are not, but you are not convinced as you need help and they are scanning books and dvd’s that is connected to their iphones and look knowledgeable of the store. Leeches.

The records here can be a little over priced at times. Records that are definitely in $ 1 bins elsewhere are being sold (or rather NOT SOLD) are marked at $ 3.99. They do have a pretty great selection of oldies though, you have to dig for it.
I do not like that they put the bargain records on the floor so compacted and close together. When flipping through records, you need a few extra inches on the shelves to flip and actually LOOK at the records. So many places don’t seem to comprehend that.

Plain and simple, half price books is pretty damn swell.
Is there a book that just came out and you really, really want it but don’t wanna pay 25 bucks for it? Just wait 6 months and go to Half Price and there will be 10 copies of it priced at 9.99.
On a budget? Check out the clearance section for a boatload of books priced at 3 dollars and under!
I tend to go to Half Price for really great deals on best sellers and cook books. 18 for a book on how to cook Thai food? No. 3 dollars on sale at Half Price? You betcha.
One thing you should be aware of before entering the store: Don’t expect a lot of money if you are selling your product. They already have 25 copies of The Help. You will only fetch about $.15 for yours.
Other than that, this a great place for a good deal, and an awesome way to spend an afternoon!

This place looked nondescript and I feared it would be like an outlet mall discount book store, but we were pleasantly surprised!
If you love the tangible printed word, this is a place you should check out. We found a great selection of historic used books, a great selection of newer discounted books, plus video games, magazines and more, AND they have cushy chairs you can sit in to pour over your selections.

I can’t get their ad music out of my head! I like shopping at this HPB– they have a good selection of books, CDs, and DVDs, at half price (or less) the List price! And the employees are completely over the top helpful!
On my last visit I was looking for a book series that rhymes with Tunger Flames– asked an employee and he pointed me in the exact spot. Although they did not have it, he informed me that I could call and check if they had it in stock, and if they did, they would put it on hold for me! (What is this, the Public Library?!?) What service!
Yes, I still buy books and CDs, get over yourself! And when I do, I get them for half price (or less) at Half Price Books, Half Price Books!

I want to work here, and will gladly take the pay cut (on the weekends)! If I were a retail store I would want this place to be my spouse.
I love this place so much, so many books and so reasonable! I have my usual route: Antique books, quick look at cooking, Epidemiology, Clearance, French History, Travel, Records (I am still hoping to find an Irma Thomas record), and lastly: Foreign movies. I have found so many amazing finds that I would have otherwise paid more for online, plus the cost of shipping. I love that they don’t have terrible books in the clearance section, I had even found books in the clearance section that I intended to buy at their full price! AND they always have sales and coupons that will cut the price at the register!

Half Price Books is great… a fantastic chain where you can find something different in every store you visit. While I’m a fan of checking out local, independent bookstores, I also don’t have an expendable budget for books — meaning HPB is a regular stop for me on weekend errand-​running.
I have no qualms about purchasing used books — whether for me or as gifts for others — and have found some real steals at this location as of late. Example: Season 4 of LOST on Blu-​Ray for $ 8.99??? Yes!!! The clearance section is great as well. If I am really looking for something in particular and I note this location has umpteen copies of said book, I know waiting little more than a month or two will see those copies make their way to clearance… nice!
I also like this store more than the location in Brown Deer because finding a parking spot is easy, the staff are usually pretty healthy, and there’s not a security guard roaming the aisles (Brown Deer was the first HPB where I encountered this phenomenon) — harshing your mellow by staring you down as if you’re going to steal from a place that’s already selling books & media on the cheap. My only gripe is that selling books back never seems to net a good total — I’d rather just donate 25 books than hope for a whopping $ 10 (I recognize they cannot take everything and that the price depends on what you have, but still…).
The best/​worst part about HPB are that you’ll often walk out having purchased something you didn’t intend to AND you may be tempted to spend upwards of 45 minutes browsing the store… but if that means adding to my literary collection at half the cost, I’m OK with that.
