A Way To Go Travel

And reading some of the other reviews, I can see that I am validated. Agree 100% about Chuck, who is the President or Owner.
We booked our wedding and honeymoon trip to Jamaica last year. The reason I have waited to write this review is because the whole situation was JUST resolved last week… ALL WITHOUT CHUCK’S HELP.
We had a horrible experience at the hotel booked. We had stayed at another hotel by the same brand so we just feel we hit a stroke of bad luck. However, it was so bad that we truly needed to be compensated and if the corporate office finally issues a refund, you know it’s bad.
We actually reached out to Chuck during our trip asking him for help. Despite having spent thousands of dollars, Chuck wanted to charge us more money to simply transfer to a hotel. Never mind that we were getting married and then on our honeymoon. We chose to stay and make the best of it because thousands more wasn’t an option. Chuck asked when we got home to send him everything that happened so he could start working on our refund. This was Oct– 2013. I’m writing this review in August 2014. You do the math.
Despite the many times Chuck was contacted, he lied each time about «working on it». When it got to be June, I finally reached out to the hotel corporate office and was able to get a refund validation coupon in less than 2 weeks. I informed Chuck of this and he offered no apology, no empathy. I had to continue contact with Chuck because he was supposed to process the refund. After 3 weeks for something that should have taken days, I decided to contact the company that A Way to Go uses to actually book the trips: Travel Impressions. They were awesome! And very helpful. We got our refund in about 2 weeks time. The other part that AWTG failed is helping us plan excursions. We tried to get ideas and help and he never same though. He supposedly sent us a mail package and it never came. When we called to ask, he swore it was sent and would re-​send. When it finally came it was just our travel papers. Nothing special.
I haven’t heard from Chuck since the refund letter was submitted to him, which means he never tried to process it. He refused to respond in email — I’m guessing it’s so his words couldn’t be recorded. Instead, he tried playing games by calling and only leaving a message when I had tried check in a few times, giving him a firm deadline. His message only said, «Call me back».
Bottom line: We got our refund (yay!) and know that «A Way to Go» is NOT THE WAY TO GO.

Apparently Unilocal decided to can my first review because they didn’t like what I wrote. I went into A Way To Go Travel a few years ago to book a vacation and was greeted by Shane. Over the course of booking the vacation over several visits, Shane was awesome. He was available, helpful, and had an awesome personality! Chuck, the owner was downright rude. He treated my wife and I like total crap.
When I found out that Shane had left and gone to Imagine Travel, I immediately followed. Apparently Claudia and Beth had gone along with him and Imagine Travel is going to get all my business from now on!

I recently booked a trip through one of the agents at Way to Go Travel, Jennifer Rakowski. She was extremely helpful and made the potentially overwhelming and stressful process seamless. Jennifer showed us a variety of options that met all our specifications and helped us choose the perfect hotel for our trip. We ended up going to The Chabil Mar in Belize, a beautiful hotel with very attentive staff. All logistics around transfers from the airports and puddle jumpers were taken care of and we had no issues throughout the duration of the trip.
If you are booking a vacation to any of Way To Go’s destinations you should book through them and work with Jenny!!! She was fantastic.

Sad to report that Shane Lawrence is no longer with them. He’s moved on to Imagine Travel and I’ll be following!

Booked my honeymoon through Shane Lawrence. He was awesome. We are from Illinois and they are located in North Carolina. It didn’t matter, which was awesome. Shane was always there to answer my questions and he worked incredibly hard to get me the best deal he could.
Everything on the trip was perfect. The flights, the transfer, the hotels, and all of his suggestions (like the expedition we did). It was all laid out perfectly for my wife and I and we were able to do what we wanted to do on our honeymoon… relax. And we owe a lot to A Way to Go Travel and Shane for making it happen.
No matter who you are or where you are traveling, these are the guys. Can’t thank them enough for all the help.

The people that work here are very rude and do not know how to run a business… I would book a trip trough anywhere but here…

We booked our honeymoon with A Way to Go Travel to travel May 31^st (Memorial Day) 2010 — June 6^th 2010 to Maya Riveria staying at Secrets Maroma. To make a long story short, we didn’t make it because of our own fault. We did not have travel insurance either, and we did not think to call the airlines about missing our flight.
The day after we were supposed to have left, and when the office opened after Memorial Day, we came in to see our agent Shane. We explained to him what happened. The magical travel god was smiling down on us that day because he managed to get us a credit back for our whole vacation minus just the previous night’s stay which of course we missed.
I am not saying that will happen to everyone when you just do a ‘No Call No Show’, but you are guaranteed that your agent (Shane in our case) will do whatever they can to make sure you are protected and they will try to salvage whatever they can even when you screwed yourself up. At A Way to Go Travel… they have your back.
