At American Language Academy we specialize in a Full-​time Intensive English Program that is focused on preparing international students for college or graduate school. We also offer upon request part-​time courses in GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, and IELTS test prep; Business English, Summer camp with tours, English for specific purposes, Private tutoring and General English.

History

Established in 2007.

In 2007, Yuni Nguyen envisioned the American Language Academy («ALA»). Ms. Nguyen immigrated to the United States from Vietnam in 1989 and from her own experiences she realized the importance of English language education for foreign students.

2009 — Introduced English Language Instruction

2010 — Granted authorization under U.S. Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students, and began enrolling international students

2013 — CEA granted American Language Academy accreditation for its main campus

— Partnered with the University of Duhok in Iraq to teach IEP to 100 graduate students

2014 — Opened three more accredited locations in California, Tennessee, and Miami

— Offers GRE and TOEFL preparation and teacher training classes

— Teaching IEP to high school students in the World Language School located in Jiling, China

2015 — Created and conducted teacher training programs for 800 Chinese middle school and high school teachers in Shanyeng, China

Business Owner

When Yuni Nguyen immigrated to the United States from South Vietnam, she was 24 years old and did not know a word of English. But Nguyen was determined to learn the language because she believed it would pave a path to success.

«I knew that without English, I could not go to university, I could not get a job,» Nguyen said.

Nguyen not only learned English. She built a Greensboro-​based business that teaches English to students from 26 countries ranging from Mexico and Italy to Egypt, China and Libya.
