Backdoor Bar and Grill

Not sure this place even exists anymore. I think it’s closed. I tried to find it but couldn’t.

This sports bar/​pub food restaurant opened recently in part of the space that was occupied by Asiano Bistro, and before that the late, lamented Grappa. It is dimly lit, 5 or 6 big screen TVs on the walls, a decent sized bar with stools, a fair number of tables, and covered outdoor seating. There are also several dart boards on the back wall.
They offer typical pub food — wings, nachos, onion rings, house cut fries, chips & salsa, several salad choices, sandwiches, burgers, and hot dogs. They offer a pretty authentic Chicago Dog ($ 5.25 with a side) including a Nathan’s all Beef wiener, mustard, relish, sliced tomatoes, sports peppers, and a dill pickle spear on a real poppy seed bun. This is the best Chicago Dog I’ve encountered in the Traid area — and matches up pretty well with the real thing. I especially like it because the relish is not sweet, and is not over done as to quantity. A little messy.
Their Carolina Dog is also nice, coming with mustard, chili, onions, and creamy slaw — also $ 5.25 with a side — also using a Nathan’s All Beef. Good version of this type dog, and like the Chicago Dog, a little messy but that’s what napkins are for. The Jalapeño Cheddar Burger is nice — well sized, good amount of cheese & peppers. The burgers come with a side, as well — and range in price from $ 7.49 to $ 10.99 for the Big Dean which is a double burger (²⁄₃ pound of beef) with bacon and cheese. Both the house cut FF and the house made Onion Rings are excellent choices as sides.
The prices here are a little high, but the quality is excellent, and the size of the sides included makes the overall value reasonable. The folks here are friendly and efficient — drink glasses never came close to empty. I like this place — has the feel of a good neighbor bar, with much better than average food and service.
