Man, people are beating up on Manhattan Pizza pretty hard here. I disagree wholeheartedly. Then again, I never tried to have them deliver my food, so maybe I just wasn’t exposed to that element of their service. Here’s what it comes down to for me: In my humble opinion, Manhattan Pizza has the best Chicken Fingers and Honey Mustard Sauce in Greensboro. Yes, the exterior is ugly. Yes, the interior is ugly. No, the people working there are not friendly. But the food is cheap as heck. I walk into that building, and feel like it’s 1995. I have enjoyed the taste of everything that I’ve had there, and I have a soft spot in my heart for family-run businesses. I reccomend not ordering delivery, just call ahead, and go there 10 minutes later, and you’ll be pleased by the food and the cost, if not the ambiance.

The food is… Ok. The service is just awful. I live very close to them and every time I have ordered delivery from them it has taken over an hour. Tonight, after an hour and 10 minutes passed, I called them to see where my order was and they told me it would be exactly 2 minutes(as if my food was just sitting on the counter) and it still took 5 more minutes. I ordered a stromboli, which is listed on the menu as having pepperoni and sausage in it. Instead, I received a *calzone* with pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms. And it was barely warm. Awful. I will not be giving them any more of my money.

Manhattan Pizza & Subs is easily overlooked, tucked away at the end of the strip of small restaurants along Tate Street. The exterior is unattractive, and the interior is even worse. But for my money, they offer the best subs along Tate Street(better than Jimmy John’s, Subway, or New York Pizza) and certainly the best bread for a sub. Manhattan offers lunch specials that include a sub, side and a drink. A small, fresh salad is one of the possible sides. This is a good lunch place and a nice change from the chain restaurants. It will never make anybody’s destination list but is definitely worth a try for UNCG students, faculty.
