Specialties
The goal of Vic Coffin Karate is to provide quality instruction in the way of Okinawa Kenpo Karate and Kobudo. We provide an atmosphere where students will learn discipline through authentic traditional training with classes no bigger than 25 students.
Our unique approach to teaching karate and fitness encourages each and every student to be the absolute best they can be through consistent effort and training. The result of training under these principals goes far beyond kicking and punching.
We begin by introducing the student to physical training that will begin to produce results quickly. We have observed that once a person is able to accomplish even the smallest of goals, confidence begins to emerge. Not only does the physical body begin to become stronger, but the mental self-image one has begins to improve, as well. Our school provides the student with skills of awareness and preparation in the art of self defense that will provide value throughout the student’s lifetime.

Meet the Business Owner
Vic C.
Business Owner
Master Vic Coffin began his journey in karate as a young boy. His first karate instructor was Chittawa Lewchalermnwong in Shotokan Karate. Master Coffin first saw Grandmaster Odo in 1969 on his way to Vietnam while in the Marine Corps and immediately became interested in the Kobudo (weaponary) that did not exist in his Shotokan dojo. He began practicing Okinawa Kenpo Karate Kobudo directly under Grandmaster Odo while in the Marine Corps and has continued in the discipline since that time. Master Coffin began teaching in his own dojo in 1978 and has remained a faithful follower and instructor in Okinawa Kenpo Karate Kobudo.
Throughout the years, Grandmaster Odo was a frequent visitor of the dojo in North Carolina. Master Coffin and several members of his dojo had the good fortune and honor to train with Grandmaster Odo just prior to his death in 2002, when they visited in late January and early February.
