Astoria Federal Savings & Loan Assn

I’ve actually been a long time account holder here. I like the free checking, but there’s some things that are agrivating. While the checking is free, there’s not many branches and ATMs, and often the ATM at this branch is out of service, forcing me to go out of my way to another branch or going to another bank and being charged an ATM fee. This bank is very sneaky with fees too. Recently I found a $ 15 service charge on my account for returned mail, which was strange, since I never moved. I found this out using their online banking system, which is very poor and has an outdated user interface. If they dont refund that $ 15 service charge I may decide to close my account and go elsewhere. I’ve only put up with this bank so long because changing banks is a pain. The biggest drawback is the lack of branches and ATM’s, they are often inconvienently located as well and aren’t in transit hubs, which is a problem since I currently dont have a car. They dont even have any branches in Manhattan! If I had it to do over I probably wouldn’t have had my account here.
