Wanted to like this restaurant– have been to many of their sister restaurants, but after 5 minutes, we were overwhelmed by the powerful cigar smoke. Cannot believe a restaurant in this day and age allows this!

This place is great. Perfect for date night, fancy work dinner, steak night and more. Def not a place to bring the kiddos. The bar area is smoking so if you plan on sitting there just be warned. Where we sat in the dining room we couldn’t tell it was a smoking place and we both don’t like smoke. We def will be back. The steak and appetizer were perfect and cooked to our request. The cocktails were great and even though the first one taste off, they nicely re did it. The wine they recommended with our dinner was perfect. The place is very clean and provides a great atmosphere. Def make reservations, as lots of business personnel there even on weekdays. The staff was nice but I would not say to the quality of Ruth’s Chris. While this isn’t a big deal it does deduct from the full experience.

Horrible service for some reason! Maybe because I was a party of one. Ordered steak medium well — mistake to do so because we all know that chefs hate you when you don’t eat raw meat period. Steak comes and its raw in the middle and brown around the edges. I felt bad because I should not have ordered a steak unless I had planned to eat it raw. So, I ordered a chopped steak, which came out burned beyond recognition. It was horrible! Again, my fault but I was hoping they could do as good a job cooking a steak as does Outback, Longhorn and Ruth’s Chris. The waiter half heartedly tried to accommodate me but he had a table of 10 and we all know that tip was greater than my $ 4.00. I was charged $ 9.50 for 2 slices of tomatoes and 1 slice of onion; $ 9.00 for a glass of Merlot that was like drinking rubbing alcohol. Chop House 47 failed on many levels. Will I return? Not in this lifetime. Do I recommend? Yes, I do. Because I’m the one who doesn’t eat raw meat. Plan to spend $ 100 per person because everything is ala cart.

I have been dining at Chophouse 47 since it opened. I have never had a poor experience there. It is old school style. Dark lighting, big wine list, great steaks(although I’ve always been partial to the lamb chops or lobster) and well done cocktails. It is expensive, that is true. But I think the food(generous portions) combined with excellent service and posh ambiance is worth it. After about three visits you will definitely begin to feel like a regular and that is a great feeling. The waiters who may seem stiff and formal upon your first visit gradually start to expand on menu suggestions and you’ll find yourself requesting«your» waiter. The first five years I was married, we had the same waiter who knew our pace of dining and matched it to his service. We still bemoan him moving on but now we have Sean as «our» waiter and look forward to each visit just as much. Last night was our 11 th anniversary and we brought our teenish son. He’s gone from the chopped prime burger to embracing the garlic chicken as his entrée of choice. It is a double«airline» breast(where they leave the drummettes attached) pan roasted. I still can’t get him to expand on more than just the«half & half» of giant onion rings and steak fries though. My husband tried the baked, cheese and crumb encrusted shrimp appetizer and it made his entire meal. He’s always been a shrimp cocktail kind of gent but was sad when they changed up the shrimp cocktail presentation(oh, I’d day 8 years ago! Yes, he holds a small grudge!) Sean assured him that if he tried it and didn’t love it, she would bring him his tried and true shrimp cocktail. These shrimp were huge and I caught him mopping up the bits and pieces of topping with bread! No wonder he could only eat one of the lamb chops. I had my favorite wedge salad and the tomatoes were perfectly ripe melding beautifully with the blue cheese dressing. I also ordered sides of the green beans and mixed sautéed mushrooms. We always leave with plenty of leftovers which helps me justify dining there about once a month. We don’t often order dessert but for me, the cheesecake and a cup of coffee is heaven. My husband loves the massive chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. It will serve at least 3 people though. Try the Chophouse, I know you’ll enjoy it.

If you are looking for an amazing steak, this is your place. We came in last night and were very pleased with our food and service. The restaurant has a bit of masculine vibe and the clientele seemed to primarily be male business professionals. In the bar area you are allowed to smoke cigars. I was pleased that despite sitting relatively close to the bar area that I could barely smell it. Our server Reza was very nice and took great care of us. We started our meal with the oysters rockefeller, which were incredible. I ordered a petite filet for my entrée, which I feel can either be a hit or a miss. It was an absolute hit! My filet was so tender and on the inside and had a beautiful charred salty crust on the outside. My boyfriend had the bone in rib eye which was just amazing. We were interested in having a healthier side so we ordered the green beans with almonds. They were ok, but that is to be expected… They certainly will never be as good cheesy mashed potatoes. We will definitely be back and look forward to our next meal here.

I really wanted to love this place. It was good. Big problem: smelled like stale cigarette smoke in there. Otherwise bar service was great. Tiffany took care of me and food was good. Chop House 47 salad is ok I 86’d the almonds and was expecting Caesar goodness with bacon. Caesar goodness was there but bacon… not. It was plentiful but not crunchy. Sigh. Center cut 8 oz was ok. I asked for mid rare and technically received it. Meat was not smoothly cooked, center was raw with outer layers at difference temps. Still decent and would go back in a pinch. Dirty Martini was a plus.

I really like this place. The steaks are good and the oysters are awesome. A couple of years ago I saw a guy belittle a vet at the bar and I was asked to leave. That incident turned me off for a while but I have since come back and seen great food and service.

Went here for the first time my husband’s birthday. Our server was nice, gave us some good recommendations. I had the sea bass and my husband had a NY strip. The sea bass was delicious, almost buttery and creamy. My stuffed potato side was lackluster, and the grilled asparagus was nothing special. My husband very much enjoyed his steak. The atmosphere is lively, dress is casual.

Tired service and an unfocused mission. This place has lost it’s original purpose in my opinion. Food was pretty good but who wants the pay $ 40 – 60 a plate for food that comes at you so fast you can’t even appreciate it. We had finished half of our salads and been seated for less than 30 minutes and they started dropping entrees. What has happened to the art of a relaxed meal?

I judge all steakhouses on the bone in ribeye. It was superb in every way. The atmosphere was classy old steakhouse with plenty of help and attention. It will be my go to when in Greenville.

I love the filet here, it’s perfect every time! We had the best waiter named Justin. He is so personable, funny, and never misses a beat. I can’t wait to go back!

We ate at the bar and had an excellent experience… food quality was perfect, and our bartender gave us excellent very professional service. Ambiance was just as it should be in an old fashioned steak house… They even had cigars for sale, and you could actually smoke them at the bar(it’s SC after all).

We were there for a dear friend’s birthday. The staff at the bar is friendly and prompt. The waiting staff could use a lesson or two on etiquette as they fail to properly greet or address your party, or even serve your food on the correct side — this maybe due to the ‘coziness’ of the setting. Food was very good. Steaks are Pittsburgh sear cooked(otherwise known as «Pittsburgh black»), sides are generous in portion. Overall, a good experience. Food — Very good. Staff — I’ve seen better Drinks — Comprehensive wine list. They couldn’t prepare the martini I wanted so I had beer. Ambience — The perfect spot for a blind date as you won’t be able to see each other. Restaurateurs seem to think dark places are either romantic or welcoming when dining. Maybe the lack of proper lighting is meant to conceal something. Pricing — Bring a full wallet.

Excellent food with good service — what you expect from a restaurant with this sort of price tag. Great place to go when someone else is paying. My group had the seafood platter appetizer — loved the oyster shooters. I got a 10 oz New York strip steak with some assorted sides that we split(my favorite was the cheesy scalloped potatoes). Some of the other sides were not worth the money — namely, the mushrooms and asparagus. Service was fine, and wine and alcohol was good(though no local draft brews — a bit disappointing). Definitely recommended for that next work celebration dinner!

Hoping that the quality would match the price tag was my mistake. For sure, the steaks are good with a nice Pittsburgh sear, but not great as they were under-seasoned. And the were 6 of us at the table for which this held true. A nice wine list to choose from and good stock levels. Mushrooms fantastic but rest of sides really bland. Service not as attentive or professional as one might expect.

I love that they have the blue cheese stuffed olives here! They are the perfect compliment to a pre-dinner martini. Our group ordered appetizers for the table and took the waiter’s advice on the assortment(see pik). I got the petit filet mignon medium rare. It arrived perfectly cooked– seared on the outside and a warm red center. I got the 1 lb baked potato and split it and the Caesar salad. I requested the anchovies with the salad. The anchovies came on the side and were a bit dried out. I finished with the banana cream pie. It did not look as good as it tasted(Yummy– just like Maryann made for Gilligan!). The chocolate cake was good but the size was Chernobyl big.

Went there with a group from work to celebrate the holidays. AMAZING is all I can say. The service is out of this world! The food was amazing. Do not miss out of the oyster shooters — if you enjoy oysters. Could have eaten 2 or 20 of those… come to think of it maybe I had 20… Had the lobster, what a monster! Others had the steaks and everyone raved. Bring the bank roll, not cheap by any means. But the experience is definately worth the price.
