Delicious chocolate chip cookies with sea salt! The pimiento cheese is different and tasty! Cake cups and cake pops are super cute… and the peanut butter pie parfait is delicious!

I remember when I was first visiting Greenville, I happened upon the Moose and enjoyed a chocolate cake pop. This was almost four years ago at this point and I still make a point every few weeks to get my favorite dark chocolate cake pop when I have a chance. Hands down my favorite place for chocolate dessert!

Glad we didn’t make a special trip to Greenville just to go to The Chocolate Moose. We live in the mountains of Western NC and I found this place on Unilocal several months ago and was excited to try it. While we were exploring down Greenville today, I spotted The Chocolate Moose and remembered bookmarking it as a place to try long ago. However, we discovered the building was for sale. We kept strolling and later found a small «Chocolate Moose» sign sitting in a chair with balloons tied to it. After wandering around the building looking for something resembling a bakery, I decide to go in and ask. It turned out to be a cute bookstore and the Chocolate Moose has set up shop inside. The place is clean and had a friendly attendant but hard to locate and not as much to choose from compared to other reviews/​pictures. I bought a red velvet cupcake in which, like other reviews, was very dense, crumbly, and spilling over the liner. Frosting was good, but the cake was too dry. They also had 2 flavors of cake pops, and about 8 other cupcake choices. Glad to have tried it for myself but I won’t go back.

Devoured a «Peaches ‘N Cream» cupcake from an office gathering in seconds. The frosting was extremely creamy and rich – not too sweet and I LOVED the unique flavor!
The vanilla cake was crumbly (like cornbread) and could have used more moisture, but it had a tasty cinnamon swirl with a piece of apple (?) in it – which was interesting.
The online menu noted that it is offered as «Gluten-​Free», but I’m not sure if this was a gluten-​free cupcake.

I would give a higher rating if the girl at the counter had a friendlier attitude. The cupcakes are ok, but nothing to write home about. The cake tasted more like cornbread than a fluffy cupcake. There are better «sweeter» options in downtown Greenville.

The icing on the cupcakes is amazing! However the cake lacks flavor and has no distinguishing features. The cake does not taste like it was freshly baked that day, but more like it was refrigerated.

This is a favorite place in town for me to bring my four year old, we love their cupcakes. I love that they create vegan options often, too! Their salted caramel vegan cupcake is one of my favorites. And the death by chocolate, to die for!

Oh the chocolate moose… How I adore thee… Okay now that I have wiped the drool off my face thinking about the red velvet cake pop I had, let me just say if you haven’t tried it yet you are seriously missing out. It is in my humble opinion one of the most moist, dense, flavorful red velvet cake pops there is to be had. My mouth was doing its own happy dance as I ate bite after bite of this deviously delicious cake pop and my flavor receptors were thanking me on my good taste … My waist line on the other hand … Not so much … But hey who said it was easy being a foodie and yummyness comes at a price … A price I for one don’t mind paying at the chocolate moose.

Decent $ 3.19 creamsicle cupcake, but a bit too prissy and underwhelming for a return.

Saw this place driving by and had to stop in.
It’s a perfect place for a little coffee date! The Lemon Cupcake is delectable — creamy frosting, the cake part moist, lemony and not overly sweet. Pairs amazing with a cappuccino.

The cupcakes are less than desirable here.
At first, their presentation seems exciting from afar, but when you get up and personal, you see something else. I am assuming the cake batter is measured unevenly into the cupcake pans, hence why each cupcake is spilling over the cupcake liner, or just looks disorderly. Each cupcake is topped with a huge glob of icing that the cupcakes can’t support the weight. So, when you try to start eating it, it collapses and completely falls apart.
My husband and I ordered a vanilla cupcake and a chocolate cookie dough cupcake. My husband compared the flavor to Sarah Lee, and said he felt like he dumped dixie sugar cubes into his mouth. To be fair, I could taste the subtle vanilla bean in the vanilla cupcake though, which was a positive surprise. The chocolate cookie dough was a dark chocolate cake batter with a cream cheese based frosting that had pieces of chocolate and cookie dough in it. The cupcake to me did not taste anything like cookie dough, and I would have used a vanilla buttercream frosting for the cookie dough icing-​base before I would have used cream cheese. I personally did not care for this cupcake and did not eat the half my husband left me to try. Overall, the cupcakes were overly sweet where it was hust really hard to enjoy them.
Also, the cupcake consisitency resembled corn bread. When you started eating it, it completely crumbled. Definitely not light, decadent, and fluffy. I can only assume that the recipe is unbalanced. They definitely use too much sugar in their recipes, which causes the cake structure to weaken. Based off the texture, I think they might be using too many eggs, which makes it really dry and crumbly.
We came in the afternoon on Saturday. Bathrooms were dirty and the inside of the shop needed a good afternoon-​once-​over. The ladies were working on making a new batch of cupcakes, so they were preoccupied; however, cleaning should always be the number one priority for a food estabmishment. I also didn’t like how one of the girls who served us, didn’t use tongs or wear gloves when grabbing our cupcake. Her hands touched our cupcake, which just really turned me off.
I am assuming that all the high reviews are becauae this is the only cupcake place in Greenville. Even the pictures posted by other people show exactly what I was talking about, the excessive icing and less than impressive baked cupcake. When you are going to pay $ 4 or more for cupcakes, it should be beautiful. Overall, I have had much better cupcakes elsewhere. I will not be coming back.

Wonderful experience. No waiting in line. Well priced. Great atmosphere. I got the Chocolate moose pie. Whipped cream topped with red and yellow white chocolate shavings. Layered with chocolate mousse and some type of chocolate fudge/​cookie crumble on the bottom. It was delicious.

Just got a carmel chocolate mousse. It was pretty good, I think if I go back I would get a cupcake.

We were visiting Greenville for the day and saw The Chocolate Moose and naturally had to stop in for a cupcake! My son got a vanilla cake pop and loved it. The cake pop was vanilla with vanilla frosting, it had great flavor and such a fun way to eat a cupcake! I ordered a black and white cupcake. The cupcake had chocolate cake with vanilla frosting, the cake was moist and had great chocolate flavor. The vanilla frosting was sweet but not too sweet. I didn’t try any of their coffee drinks but this place smelled amazing! The shop has tables, a couch and big comfy chairs!

Great place to take a break and get out of the heat. Cupcake icing overly sweet for my taste. The salted caramel mouse was fabulous.

After reading all the great reviews I couldn’t wait to try the chocolate moose on my recent trip to Greenville. I had the black bottom which is chocolate cake with chocolate chip cheesecake and cream cheese icing. Boy was it delicious! My only complaint was the service. The girl working acted like it was a burden to answer any questions and to take our order.

Man I got the chocolate cookie dough cupcake and it was freaking delicious. Go get one if you love cookie dough.

Oh man-​oh man! While winding my way back up the Main Street from Fall Park, I happened upon the Chocolate Moose. Not that I ever need a reason to stop for cupcakes and coffee, but the name alone got me hook-​line-​and-​sinker (I’m a sucker for a great pun). It was early afternoon, so I was surprised to find there was no line as it was close to the time folks normally re-​caffeinate and continue their day.
Always on the hunt for new and exciting flavors, I deferred my selection to the ladies behind the counter, citing I wanted to try something different from my usual go-​tos of anything vanilla or involving peanut butter. Without missing a beat, they chimed in with their Blueberry! It was equal parts cake and frosting, and perfectly unexpected. The cake was the right balance of sponge and moisture and the frosting, though piled high, did not dominate the flavor.
I also ordered a Lucky Charms Latte which didn’t turn out as I expected, but it was enjoyable. I loved the large sofa and chairs, but I was annoyed that with all the open space, a family with a crying baby opted to join me (without seeing if I was cool with my peaceful afternoon being shattered by their poor parenting). The CM has plenty of tables inside as well as several bistro tables on a covered patio outside the front door. A great local business that I would certain visit again.

It’s hard to knock a place that’s full of cupcakes. I split a black and white with my toddler and it was awesome– moist and not overly sweet. The vanilla frosting was amazing. This might become a regular stop when we venture downtown. Yumm, cupcakes!
