Just had a pretty bad experience. I wanted to donate my hair and this place came up as one of the places that does a free cut and donates the hair to Wigs for Kids which I thought sounded great. The free haircut was only free if they just did a straight cut(who would want that??) and it would be 10 inches to donate. So they said they would charge me $ 50 for a style. Fine. Come the day of appointment, the stylist seemed to have no clue I was donating and washed my hair(the ponytail has to be cut off first, while dry). So she was all pissy with me that they never told her. She barely spoke English and was wearing ratty jeans and a work-out cover up, not what I would expect at an expensive Greenwich salon. Would not make any small talk with me and I still continued to be super polite. Fine, whatever. Then, when it’s time to pay, some other lady was up front, thought that my haircut was so cute, she should charge me an extra $ 25! I was like um, no. Argued my way back down to our agreed $ 50, then they sent me to deal with the stupid pony tail on my own! They had no idea what to do with it. Super unprofessional. And when I looked into it, it should have been 12 inches not 10 that they told me! I’m so mad that I cut off all my hair and can’t do anything with it! 2 stars cuz the haircut was decent.

DONOTGOHERE! In addition to the salon and day spa, Allura has a hair replacement center. Women most often need hair replacement(a wig!) because of hair loss sustained during chemotherapy treatment for cancer. Allura charges $ 95 for a consultation for cancer patients(and anyone who’s interested in hair replacement options). Sure, they spend time on a consultation and the fee is refundable if you purchase something. However, for cancer patients, the need for a wig is not an elective decision, it’s a medical necessity wrought with fear and the emotional need to salvage one’s pride and self-identity. Clearly, they are NOT clamoring to run to Greenwich to find a new sexy hairdo for their next gala ball. It is unconscionable that they charge … I have found NO other wig provider in the greater NYC area that has the audacity to charge cancer patients for a consultation, including others in ‘high rent’ neighborhoods and top rated wig purveyors(Allura is not included on those lists). These circumstances require compassion and support — not the arrogance and greed so evident in imposing a charge for this service. DON’T GOHERE!!!

Though I don’t live near here, I stop and have services whenever I’m in the area. The new owner is wonderful and the place generally has excellent customer service. Lana gives the BESTFACIALSEVER. It’s sometimes hard to get an appointment with her, but it’s def worth the wait.

Allura has always been a great salon. I have been going here for years, ever since I was a little girl. They offer great services at reasonable prices. Unlike other stuffy salons in town, everyone at Allura is lovely and very personable. They always remember you.

I had booked a make-up application appointment at Allura. They called several hours before the appointment time and canceled on the day of my appointment with no explanation and didn’t offer any help as to another salon that would do my make-up. Luckily Serenity Health & Wellness Center was able to do my make-up with no problem!
