Dance X-Treme Bodywear Store

I have been shopping here for over a decade. This store stocks everything you need for your dancer– toddler through adult. It is organized and the prices are great! They will size you to ensure shoes for properly. It’s a great shop!

I’be been shopping here for my daughters for over three years. Excellent service and inventory every time we go.

I absolutely love this place!!! I have 3 daughters that dance and the staff here has been wonderful and knowledgeable. I have 2 daughters on Pointe and Vicki took the time to get the girls in the right shoe. She doesn’t rush and asks so many questions that I know my girls are in good hands. I would recommend this place to anyone!

I normally purchase my shoes from Just For Kix, but they unfortunately stopped carrying the color I needed, so I was referred to this place from my dance teacher. NEVER again will I shop here. I walked into the store was (barely) greeted by the two employees at the front of the store. I asked if they carried white jazz shoes. One of the employees looked at me and said, «White?» I said, «Yes, white. I was told by my dance teacher that you carry them.» She said, «No, we don’t make those.» I asked, «So can you order them?» I was told again, «No, we don’t make those.» I asked her again, «Okay, but can you order them for me?» The other employee piped in and said, «Well, we can, but it will take 8 – 12 weeks.» Sorry for annoying you with my service. Bottom line, rude, and apparently find ordering a product for a customer to be a burden. I will never come here again.

I signed up for tap lessens at the the south suburban rec center and met the instructor, Sandy. She is so nice and has taught tap dance for over 20 years. I am really uncoordinated but tap ended up on my bucket list.
Sandy says just get the basic shoes, they are about $ 28 at either a store in Littleton or this dance store off Arapahoe Road.
I’d been to the Arapahoe Road store a long time ago to buy leotards for my daughter (who is now a freshman in college) when the store was very large and on the main road. Curious that it is now a tiny place in a strip mall… But, ok.
I walked in and was visually overwhelmed by items hanging from floor to ceiling and signs everywhere to the effect that shoppers should keep themselves visible so store personnel know customers are not stealing. Whattt? I’m thinking this is like going to a grocery store that has a security guard at the door — I just shouldn’t be there. But the other store is way across town and I’m already here.
The clerk who helped me was very nice but didn’t have the $ 28 shoes, they only had $ 38 shoes. Well, ok… I guess… other store is way across town and I’m already here.
We quickly found a pair that fit and were still talking about the theft problem when I paid at the register.
I couldn’t do the class and the instructor is not going to be available until next year so I went to return the shoes. But the clerk, who identified herself as the manager, overly cheerfully but absolutely refused to refund my money, instead offering a store credit or an exchange. The clerk should have told me no refunds she said. Is that my fault?
Store credits are good forever, she said. I’m sure you’ll need shoes for the next class she said. Huh? First of all nobody said anything about me taking another class. And if I do need anything in the future I’m not going there. If we gave you a refund, she said, then everyone in the class would want one.
I asked for the owner, whom the manager said was out. I then asked for the store’s phone and left a message for Sandy, the dance instructor. Given the store gives a 10% referral discount, one would figure she knows the owner and might be able to help me out in some way. Guess what, it turns out the owner is the manager’s mom and they’ve known Sandy for a long time.
After I left a message for Sandy, the manager went to the back room to call the owner and got permission to refund my money.
While processing the refund, the manager haughtily told me she was putting a note in «my account» to never give me a refund again. As if I’d become one of their security issues and had to be scolded.
I’m sure that won’t be necessary since 1) They don’t do refunds and it will be a cold day in Hades before I’ll ever shop there again.
You think this review is painful to get through? Try dealing with this store.
Tap class is off my bucket list.

Horrible customer service. I was in the store for 20 minutes and no one asked me if I needed help. I waited at the counter but the three employees working never acknowledged me. I walked out and am looking for another place to buy my dance gear. I’m severely disappointed.

So my daughter tells me today that she needs a certain type of dance shoe for tomorrow’s rehearsal. After taking a deep breath, this mom was on google and searching for the closest dance wear shop that was open on Sundays. Found several, but this was the closest one. The listing says Dance Extreme, but the sign says Dance Wear… Not a deal breaker, but seems odd.
In any case, we were met with enthusiasm by a young woman who helped us find a shoe that was almost right, but needed to be a little wider. The one in charge (Michelle) directed us to another store that might have it. Sounds good so far, right? Her demeanor completely changed When I asked for the details on the shoe so that I had it as a reference when we went to the next store. She brusquely informed me that they «do not share details on the shoes being tried on». Huh? I already had most of what I needed from the display, just wanted an item number to make sure we were asking for the right thing at the next store (the one SHE referred us to, by the way). When I said as much to her, she physically moved the shoebox out of my reach and turned her back on us. Seriously?!? I guess she thought she was preserving some future sale of the shoe to us? Yeah, not so much. What she managed to accomplish was to ensure that we will NEVER buy anything at her store again!
If you are desperate, they do have nice things… And they do have at least one very nice sales clerk (who was obviously embarrassed and uncomfortable with the way her boss treated us, and who is the sole reason I gave two stars instead of one) … But I prefer not to be treated as though a store is doing me a favor by deigning to sell me something. Just a quirk I have, I guess.
PS — We drove a few miles further to Cherry Creek Dance and got AMAZING service and FAR SUPERIOR shoes to choose from as well! Definitely worth passing Dance Extreme, Dance Wear, or whatever they are and driving a little farther for real service and quality merchandise.
