History
Established in 2010.
Kinton Accounting, Inc. draws its name from a local but largely forgotten ghost town in Oregon’s wine country. When the United States Donation Land Claim Act of 1850 prompted a surge of immigration via the Oregon Trail to this area of the country, Mr. Peter Kindt laid claim to an area of land near the banks of the Tualatin River near the Portland Metro area. He established the town of Kinton in the late 1850s. Kinton is the lesser known of the two towns that were connected by the Scholls Ferry crossing on the Tualatin River. Oregon Highway 210 has long since replaced the ferry but is still known by locals as the Scholls Ferry Road. The Kinton Grange, an old schoolhouse, may be the only remaining building of the unincorporated community of Kinton but the bulk of the community is on private land and is out of sight from the road. Today Scholls Ferry Road (OR210) offers a pleasant scenic drive where one can see numerous historic houses and barns from the road.
