Massage Envy – Gresham

I love this place. I’ve never had a bad massage here. I didn’t know how good a massage could be until I started going here. Life changing.

Terrible service and terrible management. REMEMBER its locally owned… No Service…
I made the mistake of joining Gresham massage envy and have had 8 or 9 massages.
Of those I have had one massage that I would consider to be acceptable, One, simply not acceptable.
Not a very good rating in my opinion.
I have Never had a one hour massage, your waiting time and your undress/​dress time makes up that time slot. 15 minutes!!!
I always went in shorts and flip flops and my time was never more that 45 minutes…
The ad says a One Hour massage… Its just not going to happen. the most you would ever get is 50 minutes. Once!!!
The «member price» Don’t let that mislead you, Find some one that does massage full time and has a clean room…
If your looking for a regular massage this is not the location. From the reviews posted, deep tissue isn’t either… So what can they do, in my opinion not much in the way of real massages.
I have been to one other location and that was in Sparks Nevada, A great massage, Full hour also, very professional, very good.
Speak to the owner/​manager, that won’t get you anything but a Bad experience.
Save your money go down the street to any other.

Unethical practices — for members only. The prices seem like you’d be getting a deal if you were signed up on a monthly basis. I had 2 accounts for years. One account had built up about 8 prepaids and I didnt feel the need to continue so I asked about tranferring them to my wifes account.

Or so I was told. It sounded scripted. This is obviously a common issue. I had to put in a request to start a review process to MAYBE allow the transfer of these massages that I already paid for, at an extra charge of 10 dollars per massage. 80 more dollars just so we can use our massages… Wow, could have had that without a membership! I was treated like the 400 I had already paid meant nothing to them, because its their property. You can pay these people and they wont deliver — there was a recent lawsuit they lost for this very reason. Greed. If anything they acted like my money was a gift and I was causing them pain to be decent and ethical. They allowed the transfer, but now I was upset. Nice business model.
The people who work here are nice and there are many good massage therapists. If you absolutely have to go here just he wary of membership and the anti-​customer policies that are in place. As nice as the employees are, there is nothing they can do to override backwards policies.

They have a great introductory price so I decided to give them a shot, for my first-​ever massage. I was warmly greeted when I arrived– the receptionists were extremely friendly and I was told that my massage therapist was one of the best. I got some hot tea, filled out paperwork, and was given a short tour. It’s an extremely nice and relaxing place. I had a massage from Nick who was friendly, knowledgeable and great at what he does. He was considerate and kept checking with me during the massage to make sure the pressure was right. I loved it and would love to come back to see him again.
The only complaint I have was with the end of my visit. The receptionist first took my credit card, then with card in hand continually pushed the membership on me. I let her explain, said «no thanks», and she then explained the whole thing again like I didn’t understand the first time, and made disappointed faces at me (kind of like a little kid making faces, it was truly weird) when I again politely said no. I believe she was in training and I understand was probably trying to sell memberships to impress management. But I left feeling extremely awkward, it was just such a weird interaction, and threw me off of the good vibes I had after my relaxing massage. I read from other reviews that the membership was not pushed on them and so I was a little taken aback by this. Despite that, I hope to be back again sometime.

So the gf took me in for my first ever professional massage. Not something I’d normally do for myself but she was paying so I agreed. Or actually was just told lol. I got a massage from Jeremy. He did a great job and money willing I’ll be going back.

Introductory massage they’ll do a great job they’ll sell you on the membership, once you’re a member the service stops. As a member we call both the Lloyd and Mall 205 locations and can never get appointments. It gets worse, as a member the massages are weak if you want deep tissue they up charge you, so you go in for an hour and wonder what did they just do but rub your skin for an hour. Bottom line just avoid them.

We’ve been coming here since they opened and we’ve only had great experiences. The staff is professional and courteous, and very focused on making sure your experience is top notch! I suffer from chronic pain in my neck and shoulder, and require a therapist with very strong hands for deep tissue work. Thank God I found Sandra! She’s not for you if you’re looking for a relaxing, gentle massage (but there are other therapists on staff here who specialize in that kind of service). Sandra has extraordinary knowledge of the body and muscle groups, and customizes her massages to her clients needs. My husband sees Jessica regularly, and he feels she is the perfect therapist. Between the two of us we’ve probably seen at least a half dozen different therapists here over the past few years, and we’ve never had a bad experience. The one time I bought an add on service and didn’t feel it was valuable, the manager Charlie contacted me and made it right. I fully recommend you try this business!
Update 04−09−16: In addition to Sandra, I have been seeing Nick for the regular massages I need to manage my chronic pain. If you need deep tissue work done, Nick is as excellent therapist as well! My husband and I continue to have great experiences here.

I’ve received two massages at the Gresham location and both visits were wonderful! I highly recommend Brooke. She will listen to your needs and structure your visit around what you want, applying your desired level of pressure.
They provide you with a membership option, but I never felt pressured to buy it. The environment is friendly and tranquil. I will be back, hopefully sooner than later!

So, I went into massage envy with an open mind. I have had many massages over the years so I really know when a therapist is good or not. The lady I recieved my massage from didn’t go over all my information and ended up doing traction on my neck towards the end of the massage with out asking me anything about my neck and upper back issues that I’ve had from a car accident, which I had listed on my client information card you fill out before the service. I called twice and left messages for the manager to call me back, I heard nothing. I filled out the online survey and in the section where it asked if I would like to be contacted by someone I said yes and left my phone number, I heard nothing. I ended up having to go see my chiropractor to fix my neck. I have heard NOTHING at all from anyone at Massage Envy. I didnt want anything other then to have some sort of communication, and let them know about this issue so it wouldn’t happen to someone else who may have a worse reaction to that kind of inept consultation and treatment. I would much rauther spend a little more money on a massage and actually get the kind of care I need and deserve. I will not be back.

Let me just say — DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT accept the terms for the monthly membership. It’s a RIP-​off for service that’s mediocre at best. My first eft experience for the $ 50 membership withdraw was terrible. I wasn’t informed that if I went in one day before my auto renew that I would be paying for 2 massages that month. I kindly asked management to reverse one of the charges as I would not be using 2 massages during that month anyways and was basically told no — I ended up paying $ 130 for one massage. It’s a joke, a freaking joke. This is definitely one of business that can only maintain business by means of offering a cheap intro massage and/​or convincing the unsuspected they must have this ridiculous «wellness» program. I do not recommend.

The introductory price of $ 39.00 can’t be beat. Especially when the staff are so nice and helpful. They didn’t push the membership on me at all, just made sure that I had a great experience. Phillip was amazing. He is really good about talking to you about your needs then following through, even communicating during the massage to make adjustments in the pressure. I will definitely be back.

I’ve had a LOT of massage and bodywork, so I know a good massage when I get one. I was on vacation recently and injured my back. A local friend suggested Massage Envy, and I gave them a try. The only place that could see me on short notice was the Gresham office. The office is clean, attractive, staff is friendly and professional. I had a massage by Philip, who really listened to how I had messed up my back and neck and set to work fixing it. He was every empathetic and intuitive and he also knows a lot about physiology and technique. He showed me a new exercise to help continue the healing. I have been doing much better since then – much better than I expected. I really appreciate how carefully he worked to fix my back and save my vacation!
