AJR Wallboard and Plastering

They stood me up 3 times, while I lost work in order to wait for them. After the second «no-​show» the guy grovelled on the phone, promising that they’d ABSOLUTELY be here if I gave them another chance. I waited a third time, and they never showed up again, nor did they call.

We had water damage to our house and needed drywall repairs. It took this company four visits to complete a 12″ x 24″ patch. That’s four visits that I had to take work off and wait for them. The owner did two separate estimates, first telling me the job would cost $ 300, then estimated $ 500 the next time, claiming he didn’t remember coming by the first time. The day of the repairs the secretary had to come to my house an hour before hand to redo measurements because they weren’t sure that their measurements were correct, despite three previous visits. Their worker, Tony, did fine work, and I offered to pay him at the end of the job but he said that we would be billed. We received a bill in the mail that told us we needed to pay within one month’s time. When we didn’t pay three days later we received a phone call from AJR demanding payment. I told the secretary that the receipt issued said that we had a month to pay, to which she laughed and told me that wasn’t right. She went on to say that payment was due at the time of service, to which I told her that I tried to pay their worker and he said I would be billed. I received another phone call from the company the next day saying that the owner would come by our house at 6pm that night to pick up the check! I called back appalled. Never have I felt so harassed by a company. So glad we tested this company out with the patch before hiring them to redo the ceilings and walls of our second floor. It was such a nightmare dealing AJR, and we will never make that mistake again.

Absolutely horrible. They made appointments with me that they didn’t show up for not once, not twice, but three times. And the last time, they didn’t even have the courtesy to follow up, to apologize… nothing. I took off from work three different afternoons and they didn’t even bother to apologize. I wouldn’t consider using them now and will be bad mouthing them to anyone I know looking for a plasterer. Pretty stupid way to treat a potential customer in the age of the internet review.
Incidentally, I originally contacted them because they have such amazing reviews on a website called «Customer Lobby.» After a little research on this site, I learned that this is not a legit review site: the business being reviewed manipulates the reviews, keeping the ones they like, dumping the ones they don’t.

Very pleased with their work. Were clean, fast and honest. Would recommend and consider for future jobs.
