Hel-Cat Dock Fishing

Ruined a good day fishing! Over crowded, snags all day with the mate screaming at you. Started the day setting up, turned around and the Mate was going through my cooler. I said if your looking for alcohol there isn’t any in there. The nerve! Didn’t ask to look didn’t apologize when he didn’t find any. One mate in particular was very rude, and bullied people for tips all day. There are better trips out there.

My daughter and went on the hell cat this was a 1^st for us both. The boat is showing some age but seems solid and clean. It pretty good size boat and cut the water well. It was a clear day but the boat is pretty steady. I saw smaller boats out and they were rolling around pretty good. The crew was super very helpful and nice. They never made you feel like you were being a pain. Fishing was a little slow but that’s fishing. We both did get some nice fish.
Would recommend to anyone and will go back agian.

I’m sorry it took me so long to review, but my party boat experience couldn’t have been better. My husband and I were here last September and only 4 other people showed up. You know that generally a party boat won’t sail with so few, because of the price of gas, but the captain took us out anyway.
The mates were first rate, the captain moved the boat whenever needed to keep the catches coming. Everyone got blues. At 3 each, my husband and I had the fewest catches in the boat! Someone pulled up a striper, and at lest one person, maybe 2 caught their limit.
Easily the best party boat experience I’ve ever had

This was our 3^rd year chartering a fishing trip with Hel-​Cat Dock Fishing, and a total disappointment. We booked this trip as a last hurrah since 3 of our children have graduated from college and are going to different parts of the country. Two of my son’s classmates from USMA joined us as well. The day before, we got a call saying waters were choppy. Our two options were to cancel, or show up earlier and have the captain go further, to Montauk, for better fishing. We chose to show up earlier, but the captain never went further despite the choppiness and lack of bites. He just stayed in Long Island Sound. The captain didn’t talk to us at all unless we talked to him first, nor did the first mate. Over the course of a 5 – 6 hour trip, the 8 of us didn’t get 1 bite. While there is no guarantee in fishing, the lack of effort on the captain’s part is what was most disappointing.
