One of the best places to grab a quick bit. At first I was sceptical of a ordering a burrito from a liquor store, but it was one of the best most reasonably priced burritos I’ve ever had. I highly recommend the willies number one burrito it has carne asada and carnitas is one of the best burritos I’ve ever had in my life. I now eat here at least once a week. Highly recommended it!

I never give 1 star, but this is just stupid. I’ve been here a few times and order the same thing for lunch. The Mexican guy that rents the space(found out later from co-workers he’s not the owner) and cooks the food has always seemed unhappy to be there(what do I care as long as I get my food and its good right). So I order my food, get a few things(to include a 2 liter bottle of soda) and pay at the register. While I’m waiting for my order I simply ask the cashier for a cup of ice. The cashier replied, «Sure no problem.» In fact he even came over to help me find a lid and said, «Oh, sorry we’re out of lids.» I then went to pick up my food and the cook asks, «Did you pay for that? I replied, «Yeah, everything is right there on the receipt.»(you turn in your receipt when you pick up your food) He said, «No, the cup!» I replied, «Oh, the cashier said I can have cup of ice.» He responded, «No, you have to pay for it!» I then said, «There’s no soda its just ice, the cashier said it was fine.» He replied, «No, you have to pay for it.» The cashier just 10 feet away heard the conversation, cowered and changed his mind saying, «Its 75 cents for the cup.» Frustrated, I then looked at the cook and said, «For a cup of ice… I don’t think so.» I went back to the soda machine, poured the cup of ice out and threw the cup away. As I left I said, «You have your cup of ice back!» Really, for a paper cup, 75 cents and not even a lid!!! Maybe the cook(not even the owner mind you) could have simply said… we do charge, so next time we’ll have to charge. Was that really worth a customer and negative word of mouth? As I’m telling my ridiculousness to the people in the office, others chime in tell me, «Oh yeah, if you’re not Mexican he’s rude as hell. Its like he doesn’t even want to serve you of your not Mexican.» What… reverse discrimination!!! I guess it can happen, but do you really think its the best business practice? Really, this little place, off the beaten path… you would think that friendly obligatory service is paramount in getting return customers and word of mouth referrals.

Didn’t honor price advertised on the side of their building. If you have a humongous banner that has a sale price on it on the side of your building you honor it whether it’s supposed to be there or not. Don’t be stupid.

I’m in SLO for work this week and had done a Unilocal search for cheap, ahem, inexpensive Mexican food and was turned on to Willy’s M & D. SOGLAD I WENTHERETONIGHT! The Wednesday special was the carne asada/carnitas combo burrito. Seriously fellow Unilocalers, this thing is huge. But never mind the portion, what’s important is that it was super delicious! Could only power down about half so the rest will be eaten for breakfast. Oh and I love the fries too. They’re just frozen but they get fried fresh and they aren’t those stupid skinny things. I suggest you check out this little gem inside a convenience store for a great food experience.

EDIT1÷20÷15: Got carne asada fries again and to my horror the fries were raw. I was afraid to eat them and give them to my toddler so I recooked them. Disgusting. I was appalled that a place with these high reviews would serve raw food. Won’t be going here ever again. The employees were also rude and seemed annoyed with my being there(I guess they don’t like paying customers?!) and the place is a bit of a dump. Ugh. Had a torta, burrito and carne asada fries. All delish! The meat is well seasoned and the portions are huge. I wish they had fresh salsa and pickled veggies. Oh and those fried jalapeños. But overall great eats for cheap!

Humongous burritos with fresh ingredients. I’m from Texas and that salsa was deliciously hot. Seriously as big as your face burritos. It is just a walk in market. I’d suggest grabbing coffee before you go, or like we did, grab the burritos and find coffee. I’m trying to say we were disappointed they don’t have coffee. Family owned Best bang for your buck

So good. Glad I decided to try something new today. It’s a little odd to order food in a gas-station-like setting, but don’t let that fool you. The flavor here is very authentic. The only other Mexican food that I have had that compared was in Baja and in Sacramento. I got the ‘Willy’s combo burrito #1′ — carnitas + carne asada, with rice, beans, and pico. Very satisfying. I will be returning to try other items, for sure. Ps: I’m told to get there by 5p. The market stays open after, but not the kitchen.

I love Willy’s. We come here often after working out, so while I look like a hot mess most of the time, I do it so I can get my breakfast burrito faster and eat it even faster. Oh its so tasty! We’ve had the asada and bacon/avocado breakfast burritos, western burger(god bless people who put onion rings on their burgers), and tacos(al pastor and fish). Sometimes I do a dance when I eat good food… and Willy’s just makes me want to boogie. Thank you!!!

How disappointing. Was looking forward to breakfast burritos but guy behind counter said no burritos till 8:30– and was completely uninterested in helping us find another place.

Best Burrito on the Central Coast!!! As a transplant from San Diego, I was having difficulty finding a place that could make a good California Burrito… That changed today! The 13th St. Burrito is it! Carne Asada, fries, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and hot salsa… Perfect! Everything was fantastic! The Carne had wonderful flavor and the fries weren’t soggy… My friend had the Carne Asada fries and she was very pleased with her meal(or two, since it was so big she was stuffed after half!)… I will definitely be back!!! Hopefully sooner than later!

Good food, not the friendliest but it’s cheap and high quality fast Mexican food. Breakfast burritos are possibly the best I’ve had in the 5 cities.

I’m giving this place 5 stars because it’s only place on the Central Coast I’ve found so far that does carne asada fries right, or at least close enough to the real thing. Okay, I’ll be straight, none of the stuff around here comes even close to the Mexican taco shop food I grew up on in San Diego. San Diego carne asada fries were a glorious late night mainstay of the typical San Diego college student and when I moved up here, I was very surprised to find that most Mexican places didn’t offer it, or had never heard of it. A few places tried to customize the order for me, but they ended up using the wrong fries, wrong cheese, or just didn’t know how to put it together. Plus I got charged like $ 10 for the«custom order.» Enter Willy’s Market. I’ve watched the cook here make his carne asada fries and he knows what he’s doing. He’ll quickly season the fries right after frying before topping it with the carne asada. The meat is well cooked and flavorful. He then tops it with pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream and cheese. My only gripe is that he should be topping it layer by layer, as opposed to into separate portions. Also, he could use better cheese then shredded Cheddar, but it’s close enough. The result is VERYMUCHUNLIKE the wet goopy mess the other places have produced — the fries stay crispy, the meat is well-seasoned, and the pico de gallo and guac is fresh. I’ve been to Willy’s Market multiple times over the past year. I come pretty much only for the carne asada fries.

They are a simple location with a store. Not only do they have Mexican food, but they also have a variety of burgers. I tried the Philly cheese burger. It was good and I enjoyed the outdoor seating of this little market.

Best tacos in the area. I’ve frequented Efrens, Chachos, Tacos de Acapulco, and a few others in SLO. Willy’s has the best tacos! Over the past two months I have been there about 5 times. Consistently delicious tacos. Carne asada burrito was big and good, but you can’t beat perfect al pastor tacos for $.99. Don’t come here for customer service. The guy at the register is nice and the cook warms up to you. However, don’t expect giggles and back rubs.

I’ve been here a few times for their carne asada fries, tacos($ 0.99 each!) and burritos. Honestly hesitant to try any of their burgers. Well the meat cooked for the chicken, chorizo, and carne asada are all really good. The carne asada fries come with sour cream and really good guac too. I don’t think the fries are seasoned enough even though they are cooked well but once you have all those toppings on it, I guess you can forgo the extra sodium. I think they have the best 99 cent tacos! They also have a 13th street burrito which is like a «california burrito»(essentially carne asada fries wrapped in a tortilla). The cook and the people in the store are really nice and always greet me and ask me how my day is going. I pick up some beer or drinks and some mexican candy while I’m at it. Reminds me a bit of home when I can buy a huge pack of mexican candy from the store. Forget Taco Bell!!! Will come here to get my fix on carne asada and tacos.
