Yes, it’s more expensive than a Home Depot would be and yes, there is a bit of a Deliverance vibe to the place, but when you’re many miles from a Home Depot, a place like this is a lifesaver. They have everything from basic hardware to some sporting goods(diving stuff in particular) to very important propane refills. I think they’re just fine in terms of helpfulness, though you aren’t going to get the faux warmth that the big chains smother you with. Then again, I really don’t need to be asked how I’m doing every 10 minutes.

Keep paddling– I hear banjos! DEFINITELY rent«Deliverance» before pausing on Highway 1 in Sea Ranch or Gualala.

This place reminds me of why I hate Home Depot(as if I needed a reminder). A great stop on your way up Highway 1 for camping or traveling to Mendocino for wine tasting or the Worlds Largest Salmon BBQ. AMAZINGLY helpful staff, and they had everything I needed(from a charcoal chimney for our BBQ Oyster bonanza to extra flashlight batteries). There is even a outdoor/western wear section where we got my girl a hot new black cowboy hat for the rodeo in Willits. the ladies at the counter even asked her to strut her stuff and show off the hat and her new Lucchese boots right by the register. God I miss hardware stores like I remember from growing up. There is also a solid Mexican taco place behind them(use the back parking lot) where you can get some amazing and really filling tacos for your journey up the coast.

Ive been coming to gualala for the past 6 years camping and always come here to get camping stuff and rent dive gear. Had some friends come up with me recently and told them that there would be no problem getting Dive gear at this store. This time they were short on almost everything. The worst part was that they rented my friend a really badly worn wetsuit which tore when he was diving. They ended up charging him for the suit claiming it was new. Before I would have given this place 4 stars, now I don’t trust them and will never rent again and tell others to be sure to rent elsewhere before they go to Gualala for our Anual camping/dive trip.

They can fill propane tanks and they sell a lot of supplies besides. A solid home improvement and hardware store for a rural California hamlet.

Great Store with friendly staff, they have most of the things you need for your home and yard. Also good diving supplies and the only air fills on the Mendonoma Coast. Be sure to check out upstairs!
