Russian River Studios

Cute, cozy place. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom and kitchen, and great customer service by Marz. It was a little pricey for one night but I was very greatful to be able to find a room at short notice, on a weekend that there was an event happening in Guerneville. Overall, a great experience. I would definitely stay there again, but probably during the week when the rates are more reasonable.

Renovated very small rooms. Still has a motel feel. No maid service, not accommodating. My friends room smelled like marijuana when they checked into there’s. Hard to get a good night sleep hearing traffic driving by through the night, I can see why their prices are cheap.

We were happy with RRS and would come back for our next visit to Guerneville. We stayed for 2 nights over Labor Day weekend.
+ Prompt and courteous responses leading up to the stay.
+ Very reasonable prices compared to other options in the area.
+ There was a 2 person maximum but we were allowed to bring our little child (we brought a cot for him).
+ The owner lent us a DVD player and had a DVD collection that he let us borrow from. Nice since we weren’t up for bar hopping.
+ Quiet and peaceful nights. We slept very well.
— The place was overall clean, but the carpet was not very clean. It would be more comfortable to wear slippers walking on the carpet.
— A little hard to find. My GPS couldn’t find the place. It’s easiest to get there by turning off of River Road (and not Old River Road which is the street of the address) where there’s a sign for Napa Auto Parts. Over River Road is a small street that runs parllel to River Road.
Don’t expect a luxurious place. It’s convenient, practical and good value for the area (where other options are much more expensive).

The price was fair in comparison to the other options. The communication was a little lacking, no response on a request to bring my 16 year old along, through e-​mail. The space was ample and was furnished with modern style furniture. The location was a bit East of the center of town, but across from Stumptown Brewery. The back yard and gazebo was locked with no access and we did see two cockroaches, but seriously, overall it was fine. There was internet access, but it was not wifi, had to plug into to the wall. So one guest at a time for internet access. It had a kitchen with stove and fridge and a pretty comfy bed. I would stay again, with reservations…

This past weekend was my first time in Guerneville. Russian River Studios was the perfect spot for me and my wife. It was very clean, comfortable, responsibly priced and magnificent. The owners were very friendly. It was a short walk to downtown Guerneville. Fully equipped kitchen, TV with cable, high speed internet access, garden area

This is a great spot just outside Guernville and across the street from the river and Stumptown Brewery. Upgraded, decent-​sized rooms with kitchen at a good price. Owner is wonderful. Looking forward to enjoying the backyard space with pool, cabana and fireplace.

About 3 months before the annual Russian River Beer Revival, Boyfriend and I decided that perhaps we should find a place to stay closer to the Stumptown Brewery than our home 4.5 hours away.
I am so glad that we stumbled upon this place! It seemed to have been very recently remodeled or redecorated — our room was furnished completely in Ikea — and was clean and inviting, with ample supplies in the kitchenette.
There were a few dim spots — there’s no light in the shower, and the provided toiletries looked like salvaged hotel shampoos from the early 90’s that had been refilled, but it’s a vacation rental, not a hotel — so just remember to pack your own travel sizes :)
The proprietors were friendly and accommodating — in fact, we were leaving Santa Cruz later than expected on Friday and when I called to let them know we might be too late for check-​in they were very understanding and helped us get into our room at a later arrival time. So. Thoughtful! I also liked that they had a nice and diverse lending library of DVD’s and books, and a cool little art gallery with purchase discount for guests. All around a slightly quirky, very cozy place. I will definitely be returning next year!
Oh, and I LOVE the cheery, sunshiney yellow doors — and though the walls aren’t soundproof, I wasn’t bothered by excessive noise.

We stayed here last weekend. The owner was very hospitable. The place was remarkably clean, and well equipped. Very basic, motel-​like place, but, with added amenities. Though the kitchen was small, it even had a step stool to reach the high shelves (we’re short). Each room is uniquely furnished, and it is clear that there has been attention given to detail. I’d stay here again, for sure.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Russian River Studios for two nights last week. We arrived, the owner Fred himself greeted us. He personally showed us two different rooms for us to choose. The place is clean, has a small kitchen which includes not only a stove, refrigerator and sink. We found dishes, mugs, frying pans, complete set of silverware with steak knifes, dish-​washing soap and paper towels. After dinner we swam in the almost romantic pool. We biked through magnificent redwoods to downtown and continued to Armstrong Woods. This place must satisfy any customer. The location is perfect. close to the River, close to downtown and Armstrong forest. Service is extraordinary, the rooms are clean and beds are comfortable I gave it five stars.

I stayed at the Studios this weekend with my softball team for a tournament in Guerneville. The rooms were basic but very good. Nothing fancy, but all the comfort and necessities, including a full kitchen, which was great to have.
The owners were very friendly, laid back and accommodating. The location was great as well — a short walk into town, but far enough away so it was very quiet and peaceful. Also, cell phone reception was good here, while just a mile down the road in town it was non-​existant.
There’s no wireless, but they do have free plug-​in Internet access that was fast and reliable.
I’d definitely stay here the next time I’m in Russian River. Again it’s nothing fancy, bot the overall vibe of the place was great.

The hospitality was superb, great staff. Comfy rooms, and great pool. Highly recommended !!!

I want to know who the others are that stayed here and gave this place a good review, friends of the owner is the only thing that comes to mind. Perhaps that, or people who have never left the house before.
Let’s be honest here folks, this is a $ 49.99 motel at best. Which is fine, if that is what you are honest about what the place is, but the website is designed to sell this place as cute and quaint but really it’s about as close to Bates motel as I have experienced. It may look acceptable on the website, but don’t be fooled, it’s a sh*tbox!
I don’t even know where to start. I called on a Thursday for a Sat. reservation, and was told although they had a vacancy they wouldn’t book me until Friday (to make sure they could get a full weekend rental) Fine I guess, and so not surprised nobody swooped it up, because when I called back Friday they still had vacancy.
Then it took me what felt like 20 minutes to get the reservation taken care of because the gentleman on the phone constantly interrupted me and kept asking to call me back.
So, we get there on Sat. and this place in RIGHT on the main highway, a 10 unit studio apartment building looking thing with BRIGHRT yellow doors and trim and not enough parking for a full house.
We go upstairs and open the door to find a dinky craptastic room. Smashed moths on the curtains, badly stained carpet, a 12 inch TV, rusty over the toilet shelving, wadded up paper towels under the oven and microwave cart, I guess to make them not wobble. The paint was horrid, bright Day-​Glo color and of course the missing smoke detector exposing the ceiling wiring. The bed was not comfortable and the bedding looked like it needed to retire.
BUT nothing can top the notches in the wall made from the bed frame being slammed against it over time. Now THAT’S classy!
The walls are so thin I could hear the people next to us fart! And all of this loveliness for $ 140.00. And how convenient, there was no office staff on Sunday morning 9:00 a.m. so I was unable to lodge any complaint. Just leave the key in the mail slot. So here is my complaint! DON’T STAY HERE!

About a mile from «downtown» Guerneville. The staff was friendly and the room was clean, but bring ear plugs to deal with the thin walls.

Cute, friendly, great location. Love it. ⁴⁄₅ stars because they don’t have wireless internet as they advertise — you can just plug-​in in your room if you want — and because they don’t offer cleaning daily — which is great for environmental purposes, but we would have loved some clean towels. They are so stinking nice that I felt too bad to ask. =) Also, there is a really beautiful pool and garden, but the owners have fenced it off from guests and made it their own private yard. =(Such a tease.

Stayed here over Labor Day weekend, because of the positive Unilocal reviews and the low price (for the neighborhood). I was not disappointed. The hotel is a row of studio apartments. They’re not new construction or particularly «high end» but they’re clean and very cute. The proprietors clearly put a lot of care into the place. I think the room I stayed in looked appreciably better in person than it did in the pictures on the motel’s web site.
The hotel is set back only a little from the town’s main street, but traffic noise was never a problem, and the blackout drapes mentioned in other reviews were great. I’d certainly stay here again if I was in the area.

This past weekend was my first time in Guerneville. I was starting to regret it as we were driving down the 101. I saw a lot of cows, grass — it reminded me of «Little House on the Prairie.» I’m a city girl — I cry and get depressed when I see cows and hear mooing. I started to panic — what if the place I was going to stay was going to be like «Little House on the Prairie?» Do they have electricity? Do I have to get water from a well?! Is there a toilet???
RRS was the perfect getaway from the city. It was clean, modern and simply wonderful. Studios are $ 69/​night (with tax, off season) and $ 129 (with tax, regular).
Why I didn’t have to worry:
Plenty of parking in the front.
Fast and free wi-​fi.
Kitchen with refrigerator, utensils, glasses, etc.
Windows — one in kitchen, bathroom and one that overlooks River Rd.
Close proximity to restaurants, shopping, pubs.
Stumptown Brewery right across the street.
Beach towels and toiletries provided.
Cute little t.v. with cable.
Little garden outside with chairs — perfect for lounging.
Little pool with lots of lounge chairs for sunbathing.
Cute art gallery in the office area.
Very comfortable room with heater and fan.
Great service. I requested an early check-​in (before 3 p.m.) and they totally accommodated me.
I wish I owned a studio here. This place is great. The drive from S.F. to here was fun — especially speeding down Old River Road and passing all the wineries!

Great winter rate ($ 75 after tax) and no non-​sense, clean, basic room with kitchen. Friendly owners. Perfect free wi-​fi signals. Close to State Park & town (Armstrong Redwoods, Pat’s Resturant, Hemp & Chocolat). Great to support a local business.

I stayed at Russian River Studios on my recent trip to the Bay Area. We picked it because of all the positive Unilocal reviews and we were very pleased!
It’s a great location! One day we went hiking at Goat Rock Beach and the next day we were wine tasting at some boutique wineries on Westside Rd. Gary Farrell was our favorite and was only 20 minutes away.
There are lots of cute towns to expolore like Sebastapol & Healdsburg.
We already have our next trip booked– our whole crew has rented the place out for a weekend and we’re canoeing on the Russian River.
I would definitely recommend it!

We LOVED this place. It was perfect for what we needed — a simple, affordable spot to stay while we were hiking in Armstrong Park.
We prefer to cook our own meals when we travel, and the kitchen was well-​equipped and fully functional. The room was charming, and clearly decorated with an artistic eye. Cute enough to make me feel like I’d been somewhere special, and functional enough to make my boyfriend feel like we were being sensible. Again, it’s simple, but thoughtfully decorated.
The owner was kind and welcoming, and is clearly an accomplished artist. In fact, they’ve just opened an art gallery in their carport, which we really enjoyed checking out. The garden space was a great spot to hang out in.
We definitely plan to return, and next time would like to bring friends. It would be a great spot for a bunch of folks to rent out together.

I received a response to my comment about the outside lights coming in, from the owners. They have installed room darkening shades in the rooms. That is caring customer service, and shows that the owners really care about making your stay enjoyable. If we ever head to the area again, we’ll definately stay here again.
