Sure $ 12 for a manicure sounds great, but you get what you pay for.
The place is very clean and nice. In fact, the place was designed beautifully.
I had to wait for an available technician, no problem, I have patience.
I greeted her and asked her how she was. She was ridiculously rude and didn’t say a word to me/​even try to make conversation with me. All she did was chit chat with her coworker a few seats down. When she wanted me to put my hands over the fan to dry she would point and shoo her hands at me. Um, ok? The only time the woman even smiled at me was when I was paying and it was time for her tip, although she honestly didn’t even deserve one.
I rarely get my nails done because I can do it myself. I should’ve saved my $ 12 + her tip and should’ve painted my nails at home.
I picked out a glittery color and she applied it so poorly I could see my nail? Yeah she did put two coats on but some nail polish you have to put more on so it’s opaque. And when she put a top coat on she almost left a HUGE visible chunk of clear coat on the side of my nail. I was like «uhh can you remove that please?» She scraped it off with her nail and also scraped the nail polish off.
In conclusion, I could’ve saved my money and painted my fingernails with my feet and they would’ve looked better than the service I got from here.
Save your money and go somewhere else. Sure, it’s cheap, but you get a cheap and poor job.

A disappointment. I moved to the area not too long ago and have been looking for a place to get a manicure from time to time. I called ahead and made an appointment, when I got there «Vin» (Calvin) was rushing through the whole process. At one point he loudly and abruptly asked my name out of no where (he was speaking to the other employees throughout the manicure) and then told me to go wash my hands. I had to ask where the sink was (first time there and all) to which he laughed at me. The women next to him doing another manicure told me where it was. The manicure is a disappointment. A few nails are smudged, a few nails don’t have polish down to the cuticle, and a few fingers still have polish around the nails. I asked him to fix a few things, his solution was to continue to apply more nail polish. Finally I said enough, there’s only so much one can do. Overall, not my favorite place and I doubt I’ll be back.
Of note: throughout my entire experience, I couldn’t help but cringe at how much dust has accumulated everywhere. The whole salon is covered. Check out the base of the tv stands when you’re next there… they’re solid white. I mentioned the dust to the person checking me out, he was shocked to hear there was dust in the salon. I showed him the phone to the fax machine and swiped my finger over it… again totally white. Well now there’s a black streak down the phone from my index finger. I’m not sure what the cleaning standards are in salons in Gurnee, but I’m disappointed by this place.
I’m tempted to drive back into the city for a manicure when I need one.

Best place around to get your nails done. Friendly staff and a great selection of nail colors.

I’m breaking up with this place after a year long love affair.
It’s been a long time coming.
Yes, they have online appointment scheduling. Reality, though, is that they don’t have a computer in the salon. The appointments you’re submitting online are going to someone’s phone. It’s hit or miss whether the appointment request actually make it into the appointment book, meaning your well-​planned appointment may still require an extended wait.
On my last visit, the appointment didn’t make it to the book. This somehow escalated to a yelling match between the manager and the woman doing my nails… Instead of doing my nails, two staff members were arguing at the front desk.
On multiple occasions I’ve made appointments for more than one service, only to have one of those services dropped or ignored in the sake of getting me out the door faster.
Also at my last appointment, another woman came in for an appointment with the tech I was seeing. She was apparently more important than I am or her money is worth more because my tech stopped TWICE to go talk to her about her appointment while she was waiting.
(If you’re keeping score, that means my manicure appointment was halted three times. THREE.)
Over it. On to the next place.

Didn’t like the place.

After trying 10+ nail salons, I finally found a place I will stick with! The staff was friendly and attentive. I will only work with Julie, she’s the best! She does my acrylic nails amazingly. The online booking is awesome so I know I’ll always be serviced when I get there and will always have an appointment with who I want. Place is very clean and well kept. Definitely worth a shot for anyone who can’t find a decent salon!

My lil cousin and I rolled in around 6 o’clock on Saturday (they close at 7). The first thing we hear is a dude at the front counter say to another dude «Uuugh, see, we should’ve closed and gone home» — so basically announcing to us that he doesn’t want to be there and is annoyed that we’ve walked in. He was clearly hoping to leave early and we spoiled it.
I wanted a pedicure and my cousin needed a manicure. I didn’t have to wait, they sent me right over to a chair. The girl working on me was friendly enough, but it’s hard enough to understand because of the language barrier but on top of it she spoke very quiet. I kept having to ask her to repeat what she was saying, which is embarrassing.
I felt like she was rushing to be done, as well. There was a lady across from me who was in the chair before me, and was still there after I’d paid and left. The other shop-​girl was really taking her time with her. i paid $ 33 for the upgraded pedicure (to help take care of calluses, etc) and an additional $ 5 for the French polish. So total of $ 38 (without tip). I think for that much I expected a little bit more time on the calluses and massaging, & a little more time in the warm water. But overall, it was very pleasant. And the citrus scrub that she used smelled heavenly. I was so over-​due that it felt really nice just to be getting it done. Also, she did the «French» by hand. She did a good job. It looks nice, but I’ll be curious to see how long the polish lasts with this method.
Unfortunately, I forgot that none of these nail places allow you to tip on a credit card. So I had to borrow $ 5 from my cousin to give the girl. Luckily I was with someone else, otherwise she wouldn’t have gotten a tip!!! Cuz I didn’t have any cash whatsoever. That is BEYOND annoying. I don’t know why they don’t do that. So, it sucks for her because that’s all the cash we had — i would have given her another dollar or two as a tip — but due to their crappy credit card policy, she loses out.
My cousin’s manicure was done in like 20 minutes. I’m not sure what the average manicure should take because i’ve never gotten one… but that seems awfully fast to me.
In terms of the actual «store» — they’ve tried to design it so that it looks pretty. It’s painted nicely, and has chandeliers hanging, and the chairs look nice. It is a pretty shop. And they have plenty of polish colors to choose from.
Here’s the kicker, the guy who was complaining about us coming in actually ended up coming over and talking to me because he noticed I was wearing an Apple Watch. He came right over and started touching it, and undoing the clasp, and looking at it, and then he asked me point-​blank in front of other people how much it cost me. Not only did i feel like my personal space was being invaded, but to ask me how much I paid for something was quite rude and intrusive. I felt really uncomfortable. I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but it kind of crossed a professional line.
Not sure i’ll be back. If i’m in the neighborhood i might try something else next time. Overall, I think it’s worth trying. They did seem to have a nice little section of different pedicure «options/​packages»… So maybe if you go in the FIRST half of the day, rather than the second, you may get better service.

This place is always crazy busy and I think that’s the reason why they tend to rush through pedicures and manicures. Overall they do a decent job, but the last time she clipped the side of my toe with the cuticle clippers and it was bleeding, didn’t even say sorry just continued on. It honestly hurt.

Unless you have never been to an a decent nail salon, than youll like this place. There the worst, horrible attitude, they dont even fix there mistakes. if you show them that somethings wrong, they say its your fault. Took my mom and my fiancée here, both did not like there results. I dont mind paying for quality, but the price was not worth it.

I come here all the time to get my nails done! There fast affordable and persistent. The owners are very nice, The girls are all very nice and you can go early to get your nails done before they open. !! Thank you for being close to my house

I have been coming to this salon for about 4 years. They changed management a few years ago. I only let Lyly do my acrylics because I am very picky and she does an excellent job. There are a few things that irritate me about the experience I have every time… The receptionist, whom I don’t know his name, is rude and confrontational. Be careful what you decide to talk about because he will set you straight if its political… He is also rude to the girls who work there. If it wasn’t for the great work Lyly does I wouldn’t go to this salon.

I’ve tried pretty much every nail place in the Gurnee area and have had the most success at Cat Lynn’s. The facility is clean and nicely decorated. The technicians do a nice job and have a nice color selection.
The place is usually busy so calling ahead is recommended.

I’ve been living in the Grayslake-​Gurnee area for about 10 years, and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find Cat Lynn’s.
I love that you are able to to schedule an appointment online versus having to call especially if you’re on the go and are multitasking. The location is nice, and clean, staff is okay, not always the most welcoming or talkative, something I oddly appreciate. Since 99.9% of the time, I just want to disconnect and read a magazine without having to sit through forced conversation while I get my nails done.
I have had two note worthy experiences worth mentioning. The first time I came in, I came to get a no chip manicure. Kid you not, by the end of the day THREE of my nails had chipped! Luckily I was able to come back that monday and had the entire manicure redone! The second was their deluxe pedicure! They are to die for! I’ve had my pedicure for about a month now, and you couldn’t tell that much time has passed by!
I would definitely recommend trying them out, at least just once!

It was my first time in here today and I have to say everyone was very friendly and all seemed to be doing a great job. I went with my mom and the women that did her mani/​pedi was excellent. She took her time and did things very neatly. My mom was super happy. The lady that helped me on the other hand seemed extremely rushed and distracted. She picked up her cell phone multiple times in the middle of my mani/​pedi. She got nail polish all around my nail beds cause she went so fast and when I asked if she could clean it up a bit she hardly did a thing. She rushed through the job and went and sat on her phone. I just feel like I could have done a better job myself at home. Very disappointed with my experience here with her and sadly probably won’t go back cause of her.

I have been coming to Cat Lynn’s for well over a year. I really enjoy the atmosphere and the nail technicians do a good job. My one complaint is the male receptionist/​manager. He is never overly friendly and is usually indifferent that someone is there. On my last visit there he was extremely rude. While I was looking for my manicurist to tip, I handed it to the wrong person by mistake. They in turn told me that my manicurist had left for the day and to give it to the receptionist. The receptionist then asked «do we all look alike to you?» I was taken aback by such a racist and unnecessary comment. It’s very unfortunate that such a nice place with good people is being ran by such an unpleasant person. I will never be returning to Cat Lynn’s.

I came in with my mom today. Mom got a no chip mani and I wanted a classic mani/​pedi.
My moms no chip was perfect (and she’s extremely picky)
My pedi was great too. A little painful at times but it was good. I did think it was a bit strange that they used a cheese grader to scrub my feet though, but it did the trick.
My manicure was where it all went south. He cut my nails WAY too short, to the point where the skin under my nails were visible by about half a centimeter. It was so painful and my beautiful long nails now look so ugly and stubby and childish. I swear I can’t pick anything up without cringing from pain. Right when I saw the cuticle clipper I told him not to use it. Oh but he did. I said it 5 or 6 times please stop cutting my cuticles. The guy next to him told him in their language to stop but he kept going! My skin was raw from all the cutting he did. I asked to change technicians. The next one was apologetic but not much better. She was rushing to get me out of there and did a sloppy job.
I don’t recommend ever getting your classic mani here. Especially with a man who doesn’t speak English.

I’ve come twice in a row (every two weeks) for a no chip mani and both times my nails have chipped in less than 7 days. The entire reason why I pay for no chip is so that it will hold up for two weeks! This most recent manicure actually held up better than the previous one (the first one had multiple chips in the first few days). As far as grooming my cuticles goes, they’ve done a pretty good job. This place is convenient as I can just run over during my lunch break but I’ll probably just stick with my nail salon in the city… No sense in paying $ 40 for a manicure that only holds up for a week. My place in the city actually gives the tips of my nails a little extra lovin and cures my pointer fingers for longer… Whatever they do is magical Bc It really stays forever, but sadly I haven’t had that luck here :(
I let the guy who did my nails pick out my color and I ended up liking it, so plus there! Also the inside is very spacious, nice and I’ve always gotten in without an appointment with no wait (at 1pm).

Stopped here for the first time today and I’m very happy with the results. I got right in with no wait. Brian is fantastic. He did an amazing foot and leg massage. Probably the best I’ve had. He was friendly and funny but not overly talkative which I liked. My toes and nails turned out really nice. I will definitely go back.

This is my go to place. Whether I am in a rush or have the time enjoy my no chip man and pedicure. For the most part the staff is really wonderful if you get the right people. Highly recommend Kim and a few of the men currently working there. The place is spaced out enough where you are not on top of each other, they use clean tools and scrubs, parrafin, etc are great. Multiple services offered and pricing is reasonable. The finished product turns out well!
Only slight drawbacks, there are a couple of techs who appear to be a bit lazy and extremely chatty. And it tends to get extremely busy, best to make an appointment if you can.
Overall would definitely recommend!

32.00 for the no chip WITH soak off. And deluxe pedi for 33.00 great prices!
