Shame on you for your horrible service and your terrible food. Shrimp was raw so we had to tell your«chef» to finish cooking it! Filet had more gristle than a cheap hunk of sirloin! Your restaurant is filthy and service was horrible. Thankfully there are good hibachi steakhouses around that are not yours. We may not live near you, but we have plenty of friends and relatives who do! Sat in the parking lot after we left and told others not to go in, so I hope you lost a lot more than you gained by screwing us!

We went with my husband for dinner, and we ordered from the menu only sushi. I am sorry but I have to say that sushi was awful, we didn’t taste any fish, inside was just some kind of crunch. And all rolls has absolutely the same taste. I like to try new places, and I have been in the different Japanese restaurants, so I know what is good sushi! Unfortunately that was my worst experience, and plus it’s kind a pricy.

Compared to other hibachi restaurants this one is just okay. The service lacked flair and the servers seemed«untrained». The icing on the meal was receiving the bill prior to being offered desert which is part of the meal. Not impressed

Food was great! I had steak and shrimp with the fried rice. The prices are high but they give you a lot of food and tons of fun! I had a great time coming here with family. Will definitely come here again and maybe bring some friends with. The only down side to this place is that you have to wait a bit for service.

When asking around … what I heard was absolutely true about this place. «Food is good but service is bad» Apparently this place use to be well ran and busy but that was not the case here. Friday night and there was only 1 other table besides us there(sad to see a restaurant slow on a Friday night) Server was not attentive at all. My BF asked for salt for his rice and the waitress just looked confused, then proceeded to take a personal call in the lobby. Cook was ok, seemed older and the classic hibachi cook tricks didn’t work out so well for him as he dropped his spatula twice and had to stop cooking and go clean those cause the server was too busy on that personal call to help him. Food was good, nothing like a hot meal cooked right in front of you. Place is older and in need of a remodel as well.

USE A COUPONANDYOUWILLBEREQUIREDTOPAYAN18% GRATUITY. NOWHEREINTHEADORONTHECOUPONISTHISDISCLOSED. YOUFINDOUTWHENYOUGETYOURBILL. I’d been coming to Iciban Steak House for years but haven’t been there lately. I took my daughter there for dinner tonight(7÷10÷15). I never write reviews but I just feel it’s important for others to know how this restaurant operates. We had the $ 10 coupon which was good for $ 10 off a bill of $ 35 or more. We ordered ONE dinner and my daughter had additional items and I had 3 pieces of sushi in addition to the hibachi steak. The food was acceptable, but nothing fabulous. The waitress asked if we wanted the fried rice(menu said additional $ 2.95), I declined so she asked if I wanted white rice. We said, yes. Not at any time did she say there was an up charge of $ 2 for the white rice. $ 22.95 included a small filet and about a cup of mixed vegetables. When it came time to pay, and here is what you need to know, they deducted the $ 10 as my bill was a wopping $ 59 for one steak, 3 pieces of sushi, one order of edamame, one very small bowl of white rice, one very small bowl of fried tofu and one Japanese soda. That’s it $ 59. They applied the coupon to the the total BUTADDED A MANDATORYGRATUITYOF18%!!! I challenged the manager on this and told him that I had no problem leaving a tip but I did not want to be FORCED to leave an 18% tip. He started to raise his voice to me. I am a single mom, 60 years old with a teenage daughter. I never had any intention of not leaving a tip. He told me his wait staff and chefs need to be paid. NOWHEREONTHECOUPON, NOWHEREINTHEADDOESITSAYTHEYWILLADDAN18% GRATUITY. He said they usually do this for tables that have 6 or more people and that’s understandable. Then, he told me that it’s courteous to have to leave the 18% tip. As I said, I’m not opposed to leaving a tip but the food was outrageously priced, the p, ace was filfiy, the owner was rude and the entire experience a bad one. There are many other restaurants in the area where you don’t have to subject yourself to abuse of the owner and you can get a good meal at a decent price. These restaurant offers coupons in bad faith. If they are worried their staff won’t be paid, THEY need to give the. A raise instead of using illegal bait and switch techniques to make an unsuspecting public pick up the table when they use a coupon. STAYAWAY!!!

The place is old and dirty. Service was very friendly but slow and unorganized. Took 40 minutes before they started cooking our food. The food was ok but not worth the price they charge. Prices are reasonable for Sushi and Hibachi, but quality just wasn’t there. Besides I just can’t get over how old and worn out the place was. Like an old greasy spoon dive that you only go to when you are leaving the bar and desperate for food.

0 stars. Yuck. First of all, there was a cockroach that crawled across our table. Nasty. I really do not know how this place stays in business as there are tons of better places all around Gurnee. I guess it is all the tourists who come from 6 flags to eat something quick. Ugh. Please, tourists, go somewhere else. Now onto the food. We got fried rice with shrimp which was way too oily and gross. The service was sporadic to say the least. Anyway, it was a relief to get out of there. That was the best part of the experience… leaving.

I wish I could give it negative stars! I ordered the«all you can eat» and the sushi was a HUGE ball of rice and and the fish was SOSMALL on top. I eat a lot of sushi at lots of restaurants many times a week so I asked the manager if they always make their sushi like that. The manager said«we put lots of rice and make it different because you’re getting all you can eat» Had I known that, I would have ordered regular sushi off the menu. When I asked to do so, he said no. It was terrible customer service and they called the Cops on me! I thought it was a joke and when the cops came they were laughing at the situation. I said I wasn’t going to pay for some sushi because of how poorly it was made and they weren’t allowing me to order off the menu. I hadn’t eaten any of it. I ended up just paying for my drink and leaving!

Overall good place to eat. Service was good and the chef was cool and funny. A little pricey and I guess the refills on soda are not free. The waiter asked me for another so I assumed they were free. Really didn’t have much time to look at the menu to see whether or not it was mentioned. $ 60 for 2 people when ordering the cheaper menu selections.

Went here to get sushi and wasn’t impressed. Small menu, terrible service and way to pricey for poor quality. The waiter pretty much acted like I wasn’t there. When we got the check, he had added a gratuity to the bill, for 2 people! So rude. I hate when people tip themselves. Sushi rolls were okay. Very small for the amount they charge you. After the sushi was served we did not see our waiter again. I had to go up and ask someone for some water because I never got any. When you go to a restaurant that should be the first thing they should ask you.

We ended up here for a farewell dinner; apparently, it’s one of the guest of honor’s favorite places. Okay. I don’t have any complaints about the quality of the food, but the portions were pretty scant for the price. I’ve been to teppanyaki places before that managed not to skimp on the meat, but it’s irksome to pay upwards of 30 bucks for a pile of rice, some veggies, and a couple of scallops. Everything tasted great, there just wasn’t enough of it, for the price. The small space was also very, very cold. our table was nowhere near the door, and it was still icily drafty, and if you feel a chill even when the hibachi chef is flaring enough oil on the grill to singe eyebrows, that says something. The atmosphere was a bit rundown, as well… the table edges around the grill tops were laminate that was starting to warp and peel. The people were very nice, although the chef wasn’t really good about keeping straight what people had ordered(not a big deal, but might have been had anybody had a shellfish allergy or something), and the server who did drink refills managed to spill an entire Coke in my husband’s lap(and later dropped a glass on the grill top at the table nearest us — thankfully, those patrons had left — and shattered it, sending glass flying everywhere, yikes!). In short, good food, small portions, high priced for what you get and the atmosphere in which you get it, presentation really needs work.

Over all food and experience was good. We had fun. My only complaint would be the price. Unilocal failed to properly represent their prices with«$ $», it’s more like«$ $ $» with $ 30 plates that mostly consist of rice and veggies and little actual meats.

In the 10 years I’ve lived in Gurnee, I’ve been to this place a handful of times. We used to go for the sushi, which seemed fresh and delicious. I prefer Gurnee’s other sushi restaurants now. I’m not sure you could call this a welcoming atmosphere anymore, the place is run down, yellowing walls, fraying carpet, smoke stains, etc. This last time I went sealed the deal to not return. I tried a deal for the teppan room. The food was just okay. I think the golden shrimp appetizer was probably the best part. The sauces were watered down. The cook at our grill was a competent latin fellow, but wasn’t much for the kind of theatrics I’ve seen at other Japanese analogs closer to the city. Worst of all, this is certainly no deal. It’s overpriced mediocre food. I think you get the same or better quality at the local all you can eat buffet for 1⁄3 the price. It makes me sad to pan this place, but it’s just really gone down in quality over the years.

yum! i was at gurnee mill shoppiing so we decided to eat here. If my friend didn’t tell me, I would have no idea that this place also had Teppanyaki. The chef was awesome and really gave us a great experience. The filet was well worth the upgrade and the shrimp is amazing! Took the advice of eating the shrimp with gold sauce AND garlic sauce(my bf order gold and i got garlic. and we shared)… it was DELICIOUS! The gold by itself is kind of heavy for me but the mixture of the garlic gives it a bit of texture. That fried rice. omg. He cooked it like I would… it looks pretty plain… but HOTDANG that was good. shoot… i just salivated at the thought of it. It’s not salty but it was still flavorful so I love love loved it!
