Lube Express & Smog

I’m not sure since when but there’s new owners now. Service is quick and they’re really friendly. I live in the area so it’s convenient. Nothing bad to say about the place.

Not at all pleased with the service, they stripped my oil plug now I have a drip!!! Not good Second they gave a quote way too $$$ That I needed motor mounts NOT I do not need!!! Never go there again!!!

If I could do NEGATIVE stars on here I would, we USED to bring all our cars here before the change, this place has people working for them that do NOT know what the fck their doing, so my kid goes in for an oil change obviously, then few days later, my kid mentions his oil light turned on on better check this out, checked the oil stick and NOTHING no fricken oil, it was dry… They didn’t put fricken oil in his car WTF did they do then? not put oil that’s for sure… I was so livid but I was at work so I couldn’t go myself, my kid went back they apologized multiple times, they ended up doing the oil change with the EXPENSIVE oil and some other BS stuff to try and make up for their fck up, I wanted to go back myself; what they did was just pure laziness there could of had extensive damage such as a blown engine, luckily we caught it on time… So heed the warning be careful at this spot!!!

Came here a few times because I lived close by, but last time I came they stripped my oil plug. They told me they would order me a new one and put it on when I came for my next oil change… So 4 months later I try to explain this to them and they seem to have forgotten they stripped it. I can’t get my oil change anywhere else because they won’t take the liability for it. The owners barely speak English so it was difficult to explain plus the worker was cursing and very unprofessional. This place is garbage. They don’t care about customers.

Took my girlfriends car here to get her smog test done for the DMV. They said it would take about 30 minutes so we went to get lunch while we waited. While we were eating they called and let her know the oil was low and topped it off. I thought this was great service and when we got back to pick up her car they told her that they sent everything over to the DMV. Great easy and fast service.

I used to come here all the time but now these people just try to rip you off hard! I AM SO TICKED.
So my wife pulls in today and they tell her oil change is $ 35.99. She asks straight up (because we already got swindled twice, once for overcharging on smog check, another for oil change),
«That’s a little high for an oil change, it’s not synthetic?»
«They can give for $ 25.99, different brand, instead of Castrol regular you can get a cheaper one with Mobil One»
«So that’s it, there’s no more hidden fees, that’s what I’ll pay out the door?»
«Yes».
She doesn’t even walk into the building, and another mechanic comes up to her and says that they checked and our car uses a special filter and it’s an extra $ 10.
So my wife says: «ok then, we’ll pass, I’ll just go somewhere else.»
And the guy said «We already drained your oil.»
!!! And so she goes beast-​mode (like I would’ve done) on them, «You drained it without my consent? You tell me no extra charges and say there’s a special filter on a Toyota Sienna that you’ve serviced HOW MANY TIMES in Hacienda Heights? Then put oil back in my car so I can get out of here!»
And then the owner (small lady) came out to apologize, but in so doing justifies the price for the filter, and she firmly but kindly explained that it’s not about the money, but the way business is being done and swindling tactics like that does not fly anywhere and is unjust and unfair and totally is trying to take advantage of a customer. Even though the owner then offers the filter for free, we walk away, because what about the next unsuspecting customer?
The short story: Overpriced and telling you extra service charges for things that are not even there, they even try to rip off my wife! That’s the last straw. Would put zero stars if I could. If you don’t believe me, come here and get a quote and tell me how you feel.

I used to come here all the time for an oil change but after my last few experiences, I will NEVER come here again.
2 oil changes ago, they told me I needed to clean out my transmission as it was really gunky & overdue. Also mentioned something about my spark plugs, yadda yadda — I got charged $ 360+ for all that only to get yelled at by my mother who told me I just got scammed. Lol whatever, my car drove a little better & I didn’t notice any other problems.
Then the last time I got my oil changed here, they gave me some transmission bs AGAIN. They said something was cracked and the transmission fluid was leaking. Told me it was gonna cost $ 160 + 30min. I was in a time crunch so I told them I would be back at a later time.
Right after that incident my car started to leak A LOT. Note: my car was not leaking ONE BIT before this. Something felt very suspicious so we took my car to a family friend mechanic — he told me the bolt has been loosened and that was the reason for the leak. He refilled my transmission fluid and tightened my bolt for $ 20.
THERE WERE NO BROKEN PARTS, THEY JUST FUCKED WITH MY CAR SO I WOULD FREAK OUT & HAVE THEM «FIX» IT.
This is really disappointing as I used to come here before the owners changed & whatnot. From the other reviews it seems like I’m not alone here.
Fuck this place.

Like a previous review stated before– quick and easy oil change services. They were able to see me immediately and in a timely matter. They managed to finish my car in a quick and convinient manner. However, I was told by Jose, over the phone, that my transmission fluid needed to be changed. He also suggested that I change my air condition filters as well.
I asked him in all honesty– what the priority of importance was to address these items.
He replied by saying that the filters were not a big deal, and could be dealt with within the next couple months. He did however present a convincing argument for the transmission fluid– recommending it be done every 60k-​80k miles (my car was at 100k, and I’ve never changed my transmission fluid). So, I agreed and that was done in about 15 minutes also.
Can’t determine if this was a scam or not, based on the reviews before me. My car has been running fine since I visited them– so it might have been a wise investment?

Updating to advise there is no leak, issue was just the area of where the filter was replaced was not cleaned up.
Business did contact me to apologize and offer a cleanup. I did appreciate that and for that I will consider going back again for future service.

DO NOT COME HERE THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS!!!
I came here to get an oil and filter change a month and a half ago, and today I noticed oil leaking out of my car and it began smoking up! My dad and I came to realize that the filter was not placed in correctly from my last service.
I took it back to get it fixed and one of their new workers (who didn’t seem happy with his job there) was honest and told me they didn’t even change my filter out the last time I went to get my car serviced! I PAID FOR A NEW FILTER AND THEY DID NOT EVEN SWITCH IT OUT! MY STOCK FILTER WAS STILL LEFT IN MY CAR WITHOUT THEM EVEN TELLING ME! Even though they cleaned my car and replaced the oil and filter today, I am still furious with their dishonesty! I am never coming back here!
By the way the last, last time I came here I left unsatisfied with the way they charged me they told me they would give me a reasonable price when I first walked in and when they were done they made me pay about $ 90 more! They say whatever they can to get you to agree to let them work on your car and then charge you much more than what you agreed to!
OH and one more thing. When I walked into this shop today I witnessed another unsatisfied customer letting them have it because they told him they would charge him $ 16 when he came in but they ended up making him pay $ 60! They use their accents to their advantage and play dumb.
This is not an honest business my family and I will not be coming back.

If you’re getting your car smog, this is the place to go. They take care of you and are very friendly

They are using the bait and switch scam, from the advertised $ 19.95 oil change to the other higher priced oil changes. I took the $ 36.99 oil change. I never had to put more than 5 qts in my 6 cylinder Envoy. They claim to have added and extra 2 qts for $ 10.00 extra. Watch out, this place is strange.

Since they changed owner, all they wanna do is rip you off. I used to come here often but looked for another place after all the bs they have been feeding me

Watch out! This place is a rip off! I took my car for an oil change that costed me almost $ 90! I got an oil and oil filter change for a Prius which is a small car that does not need a lot of oil.
Don’t be fooled by the niceness of the owner and his mechanics! That’s just an act. When I challenged the owner why his posted rates were less than what he had charged me, he suddenly stopped speaking English and called the mechanics to scare me.
Then the mechanic came up with some nonsense explanations: he told me that the posted prices were for a different brand of oil and they had just switched to that. This oil is better because it lasts longer. How is it better if I have to change it every 5000 miles which is the same as the one he claimed was not so better? His whole store has signs for one brand of oil. Oh and by the way, the mechanic tried to convince me that my 30,000 mile car needed a complete transmission service. Really? It took himonly 3 minutes with my car to find that out? While I was waiting, they told the same thing to two other female customers and scared them as how their cars may stall in the freeway.
I guess I should have read the other reviews before going to this place.

I would second that I am a lucky customer that didn’t have a bad experienc here at all. I dropped by on my way home (since it’s close by my house) and ran into Patrick.
I asked him how much a smog was. He gave me a very fair price and said I would be done in 30 minutes. I followed up by asking if he would give me a discount if I also got my oil changed too. Again, very fair price. I stopped by my home to grab the paperwork and came back. The smog and oil change went smoothly, no complaints.
Also, he misquoted me initially due to the year of my car, but stuck with his initial quote. No haggling required, top notch customer service.

My wife has been bringing her Honda here for oil changes. She leased a new car and handed me the Honda. Car’s synthetic oil has not been changed for a very long time.
Anyways, I decided to go to Lube Pit Stop (different shop) due to distance and price, they said they couldn’t do my oil change because of liability issues, I said «whats wrong» they said I had an over-​sized drain plug with a lot of silicone around it and even showed me a cell pic.
I can understand this reason.
They advised I go to the last place my car was serviced and it ended up being Lube Express.
So I called LE, some rude old man answered, I told him my situation kindly and he basically called me a liar by saying I coulda brought it somewhere where they messed it up.
So he handed the phone to another tech who was nice. And said they can probably try to fix or tap what the previous techs messed up. He also said that they changed ownership in March of 2014. How many owners did they have since 2011 to 2014?
I kinda don’t want my oil pan tapped or salvaged cause it was never like that to begin with.
They can up-​sell you all this bullshit, and yeah I got the cabin air filter story and the xtra oil story from them before, but not have the nerve to tell us we needed a new oil pan? OH YEAH, that’s because they messed it up… right…
My car is now rendered un-​serviceable for oil changes because of liability issues until I get a new oil pan.
SO,
1. should I waste my time, go there, have them fix it (not really fixing it) and charge me (cause that’s what they’re gonna do, wanna charge me)
2…waste time, go there, ask them to buy me a new oil pan and deal with the arguments that will arise ‚
3. take it to small claims, or
4…take the fuckin loss?
…Just to add our last oil change was in September of 2013
so this was around that time.

First of all, if I had choice to put no stars I would do so. My wife had went in to get a smog check and she had clue how much a smog check would cost, she ended pay $ 58 with tax for a smog check which is ridiculous! Most places I’ve seen charged $ 30 dollars!
Second of all, they recommended that she changed the cabin filter for $ 35 and also the air engine filter for $ 75 which is absurd. Luckily she called me and asked my about it! Same day I went to O’Reillys to buy the filters, top grade for $ 40 dollars.
People beware of the prices and how they will literally charge you an arm and leg for everything!

I may be one of the lucky few ( Unilocalers) who never have had a bad experience here.
Theres usually no wait here to get an oil change. They do it quickly and correctly.
I’ve been here a few times and throughout all those times, they’ve only recommended to me once that I should clean my fuel injector & switch out my left wiper blades.
Did I take the plunge the first time? No. Why? My aunt felt like they were BS’ing us.
Did I think that? Partially, no. Why? I knew I had to replace one of my wiper blades few months ago but I was too lazy to change it. As for the fuel injection, I had to do a little research to fully understand all the whys & what’s about it.
There was an argument between my family & they wanted to take my car in for service on Saturday except it was 5:10 and we were in the San Gabriel area still handling business. They close at 6.
My aunt called them 3 – 4 times asking them to wait for us.
We made it there at 5:59.
They took the car in and brought down their sliding doors– Closed up shop.
Cleaned, switched, and aired.
They actually switched BOTH of my wiper blades and we were charged for it. My aunt busts an asian move and says «no more cheaper??» The guy says we already gave you a discount and he wasnt rude about it at all. He’s actually all smiles & jokes. My aunt gives him $ 100 for our $ 90 bill and she got $ 15 change back. $ 5 isnt a lot but its a nice gesture especially for bugging them on the phone and making all of them stay a little later.
Their prices are a bit higher than most places, but I’d rather go here for the minimal wait time & on point customer service.

The longer review:
Sign posted: «Oil Change Special»
Me: I needed an oil change so I pulled up. «How much for the special?»
Owner: «$ 26.99,» good price I thought, more importantly no customers ahead of me.
Me: «Ok, deal.» I walked in to the waiting room and saw poster with oil change starting at «$ 26.99». On another wall, oil changes started at $ 20.99. What the heck?!
Tech: After inspection and oil change, «You need a transmission flush, air filter changed, cabin filter changed.» (Standard up-​sell, my air filter looked good still.) «No thank you, just the oil change.»
Clerk: That will be $ 48.
Me: «Wait, what happened to the $ 26.99?»
Clerk: «Extra quart and a half of oil, special oil filter for your Toyota Highlander.»
Me: I began to say something about Toyota’s being the most popular car, why would it be special? But I stopped. Thinking to self, should have went to dealer down the street for this price. They’ll wash my car, rotate my tires, provide wifi, give me coffee and a cookie to boot.
Me: One hour later, I notice a three inches in diameter oil puddle under car. Went back immediately.
Tech: «There’s no leak, we cleaned it up, sometimes old oil gets pushed out.»
Me: Raised right eye brow. Thinking two ways oil drips, didn’t do it right or did it sloppy. Bad sign either way.
What I got was an expensive oil change, stained driveway, and a whole lot of wasted time.
BTW, from reading the previous reviews, they’re new owners as of September.
Thumbs down, but at the end no shadier than the next quick oil change place (which isn’t saying much for the industry.) As always, let me know what you think.

Worst confrontational experience from the get go.
Here’s the deal. Started to take a photo of my truck in the shop getting an oil change and everyone went nuts.
With that said, I shall never ever set foot in this establishment again… not to even go pee pee…
They took over the old Lube Express place and added «Lube Express & Smog Test which is essentially the same establishment.
