By far the best cleaners I ever had shirts are always clean and look great! Fast service you can always count on!

I was so pleased with the service here I knew I had to review!
I brought my wedding dress in for it’s lace hem to be shortened, after being recommended to this alteration place by Bijou Bridal (I figured a bridal place may have some good recs if I called — they said this is the only place they recommend for outside alterations).
Here’s a mini rundown:
— The turnaround for my alterations was about a week and a half (lace hem shortened, bustle moved, hook and eye pulls adjusted, other small details here and there).
— The pricing was very reasonable.
— The staff is VERY organized. I felt really comfortable leaving my gown there and they were very particular about receipts, recording accurate information, providing accurate quotes, and making sure they knew my need by dates and having it ready a couple days before then.
— The staff was friendly and kind. All of the individuals in the store were welcoming, professional, and many of them in the know about my order before my arrival, even if I hadn’t met them before.
— The dry cleaning service was excellent and affordable. The dress looked perfect.
Then, I got to party all night and have a lovely wedding day, rain and mud and all! Having them perfect my dress so that I could go ahead and dirty it up in all the festivities is all part of the fun!

Do not go here! They charge outrageous prices and do a terrible job on high end clothes! We brought in designer clothes for some repair work and cleaning and they charged hundreds of dollars, but wound up ruining the clothes. They stretched out a designer skirt, ruined the color on a designer blouse, and did an amateur repair job on a designer sweater. For the money they charge you expect top notch work, and you get the exact opposite! I do not know how they stay in business with the low quality and ridiculous prices. Stay away!

Horrible place. way over priced, lost more than 2 shirts and couldn’t even call to let me know. when I called about it the 2^nd time they couldn’t even return my call till a whole week later after that second call. They finally found my shirts and delivered it to me. Never going back my shirts are around $ 100 each. I’m not the shopping type

I had Hallak cleaners look at a white skirt that had a black leather lining. It was an expensive couture piece from Calvin Klein. I had previously had it cleansed at Madame Paulette. They had to hand clean in order not to have the black run and ruin garnet. Madame Paulette got the motor oil stain removed. I thought I would have Hallak Cleaners try to do the wine stain thinking that they might be less expensive and see if they agreed on the cleaning method. THEY WERE SOOOOOOO EXPENSIVE I DID NOT USE THEM. Hallak cleaners wanted to charge me $ 375 !!! for one item… Meanwhile Madame Paulette charged me $ 75
GO to Madame Paulette… same fantastic service and high quality recommended by CK showroom and not a major ripoff

Avoid this place at all costs. Extremely overpriced for less than average service. Items are not ready when promised and the staff does not care about the clients. You can easily find a cleaners that does the same thing for half the cost and better service.

I was looking for a place to get my wedding dress cleaned and preserved. I didn’t want to bring my beautiful gown to any old dry cleaners, and I felt uncomfortable about the «mail away» options through my bridal boutique. I found Hallack Cleaners through a google search and was happy to see they offered both cleaning and preserving services. (as a side note, my gown did not need much by the way of cleaning. a few hours in a reception hall left it almost store bought new)
I called their website phone number and spoke to a very nice woman. I told her the make and style of my dress and asked her for an estimate for the services. She told me $ 500. I felt that was reasonable, so my husband and I went to the store to drop off my dress.
In the end, Hallack Cleaners did an excellent job cleaning and preserving my gown. However, I unfortunately cannot give them more than two stars because the woman working at the front receiving desk was very rude. When I walked in and handed her the gown and said a Hallack employee (I even gave her the employee’s name) quoted the services at $ 500, she snarled her facial expression into a look of doubt and anger and said, «Uh, did she KNOW how much beading is in this dress???». I told her, yes — because I had given the employee the exact MAKE and MODEL of the dress so she would have to know how intricate it was. (In fact the woman I gave this information to on the phone took the time to look the dress up while I was on the phone before giving me a quote). So, she looked over my dress, picked at it for a few minutes and finally said, «Well, it’s not TOO dirty. $ 500 is OK».
Because this woman was so antagonistic about the price and so rude, I won’t be returning to Hallack or recommending that anyone else go there either. A good business has to be 100% in service AND 100% in customer care & satisfaction. This woman left me with the impression it would be a battle over the price of any future item I might bring there for cleaning. I don’t like a business that tells you one price on the phone and then a different one when you go to the store. That is poor form, and really dissolves customer confidence.

Had a gown that no longer fitted me. I found out that many people create a «corset» type back when gowns are a bit tight. At first, they weren’t sure if they could do it, but they said they will see what they can do. I showed them a picture, as an example. Well, they were able to make the adjustments, and it came out great. They even put a side zipper (hidden) so I don’t have to lace-​up every time I put the gown on. The price was very reasonable, especially for a very expensive gown-​that I can now wear many more times!

Hallak stands by its service and will never dismiss your comments and or concerns. The shop is professional. The staff are experts, and the work is always quality. You will pay for this piece of mind however, but you won’t be disappointed.

I brought my gown to Hallak to be hemmed because they were supposed to be «the best». They had great reviews so I didn’t mind paying a premium price for a perfect job.
When I dropped it off, I informed the seamstress that I would be leaving for my destination wedding in 4 weeks. She gave me a date 2.5 weeks later to return for my 2^nd fitting. I thought it was a long time to wait and pushing it time-​wise, but I figured they’re professionals and I need not worry.
When I arrived for my 2^nd fitting, they could not find my dress. I waited for 30 minutes in a panic while they searched for it. The seamstress said she thought it might be at her house. Her excuse was that she had too many brides to keep track of all the dresses. Maybe she should get a calendar to jot down the dates she tells brides to return.
An hour later she calls me to say they found it. So I go back for the fitting and she gives me an attitude about me wanting to get the dressed finished ASAP. At this point I have one week until I leave. If something else needs to be fixed, I want to allow for enough time to do so. From what I’ve been told by my sister (who has been a wedding planner for the past 7 years) and my group of close friends who are married, I was supposed to give one month for alterations to make sure I’m not going to fluctuate in size before the wedding. She snapped at me and said she needed three, which is fine if that’s how you operate… but why not tell me that from the beginning? I’d have taken it somewhere else if they didn’t think one month was enough time to hem a dress.
My work schedule conflicts with the seamstresses hours of 730 – 330 so coordinating times to see her was difficult. She did end up having the dress ready for the next day for me to pick up after work, but it was after her shift so I was not able to try it on again with her.
When I tried the dress on at home, the first hem was done on a machine, so there are holes all along the bottom. I know that test hems should be done by hand. It was also uneven, so I had to take it to another seamstress on Sunday to be fixed.
The icing on the cake… my bustle broke an hour into my reception. I ended up dragging my train around for the rest of the night.
Bottom line, for $ 350 to hem a dress, I had higher expectations. My best friend had he dress hemmed and taken in for $ 200 and it only took 3 days.

I have recently brought a few bridesmaids dresses of mine and others here for alterations. I couldn’t be happier. I have a small frame and always need to get clothes altered. I can’t believe I’ve been bringing everything to a different place for all these years when hallak is only 15 min away. The staff was extremely friendly and patient with me while trying on different dresses. I felt they gave me honest opinions on what needed to be done. The dresses were altered perfectly… no one would ever know I had everything taken in!

If you’re looking to be ripped off, go here. They quoted me $ 1,500 to clean my wedding gown due to all the ‘detail’. Im sure they would have done a great job, but with that money I might as well go buy a brand spanking new gown. No thanks.

This is going to be a long review, but I hope this helps people in other cities make an informed decision.
I live in San Francisco, and I’m a customer of Loro Piana’s Union Square boutique. I bought a windbreaker from LP; one of those everyday jackets that are so necessary in this city. I took it to a local cleaner and they returned it with the lining stained so badly that it looked as though they had wiped greasy machinery with it. Because there was a language barrier that I was certain wasn’t going to aid in correcting the huge damage, I took it to another cleaner, showed them the damage and their response was that they would attempt to remove the stains. One week later and it looked just as bad.
I contacted my sales agent at LP and explained the issue. She asked me to return the jacket to see if there was any hope of removing the stains. Tracy spoke with management and she was given approval to ship it to Hallak. Two months passed, but the jacket came back without even a hint of the terrible stains! That was April to June, 2011.
Two weeks ago, I took the same windbreaker and an LP reversible cashmere, micro-​fiber and suede vest to another San Francisco cleaner, and the vest came back with major stains around the pockets, and the suede looked as though they had toasted it over an open flame. The windbreaker came back with stains in the lining, but this time it was…“minor”.
So, I decided to send the vest to Hallak. Marc contacted me and asked a few questions about the suede, etc. He called me back with a price quote and I agreed. The vest arrived this afternoon via FedEx, beautifully wrapped and on a hanger. The stains? GONE!
For the price point of garments such as Loro Piana, this is the go-​to cleaners.
I am extremely pleased with their service!
Do I like the idea of sending my clothes 3000 miles for service that should be available locally? NO! But I’ve had nothing but bad encounters here.
Note: Marc even named the cleaning material that the San Francisco cleaner used, and why the process was incorrect for suede!

I was totally on-​board with Hallack & Sons and was plenty happy with the first two articles I sent through to be tailored until… I actually wore one of them for a day.
At first, I felt a slight scratch and a constant sharpness in my leg. It wasn’t until I made my way into a clothes stores’ dressing room did I verrrrry carefully remove my pants and found what I had suspected. A deeply buried needle facing directly downwards. If I had taken the pants off in a hurry, I could have really stabbed myself.
Recalling that I had paid a $ 35 premium for bringing in the sides of these pants, I expect much better. Unfortunately, with so many other tailors available in the local area with better prices, I will take my business elsewhere and can no longer recommend this organization as a tailor.

If you have clothes that are «ruined» with a stain, you need to know these guys. They ain’t cheap! But if you really want to save it, this is the spot. I had a light tan suit with a purple orchid pinned to it for a wedding. Somebody died at the wedding, so I forgot to take the flower off the suit. When I got home from the wedding, I have a big purple spot on my jacket. Since it was a custom made suit, I was a bit sad. Someone suggested trying Hallack, and yes, they saved it. I might have been able to buy a new suit at Century 21 for the cost, but then again, Century 21 doesn’t have custom tailors making suits in first rate fabrics…
