Here’s the deal with this place. It’s a teaching school, the prices are pretty cheap, and some of the students really know what they are doing because they have been learning for a long time. The haircuts are 10/​10, you get a wash, cut and blow dry for under $ 20– including a $ 5 charge for longer hair. They definitely take a long time to get the job done– so make sure you are in no rush or have no prior obligations because there is really no telling how long you will spend here. I only got a mani/​pedi here once and it was years ago so I don’t know if it has changed, but it was an extremely unpleasant experience. Much like getting a mani pedi by your little sister at home– but I don’t know if it has improved by now.
One service I would definitely advise against getting done here is any sort of color bar service. For starters, the pricing system is ridiculous. They start at a base price for the service you want, most around the $ 50 range, (which only includes 1 bowl of the product you need– ex: color/​bleach/​toner) and each additional bowl is an extra $ 10. Normally, a base price should include enough materials to cover the average service requested, but here it never does. Even the amount of product they bring in the bowls varies– so your price will hike up, and fast. I’ll give you an example of my situation– I have dark black hair so the girl used 5 bowls of bleach on my hair. She used a lower strength bleach which wasn’t lifting quick enough, so she had to add on yet another bowl of stronger power bleach. She should have known what strength to use on hair of such a deep color, instead of making me pay for the mistake. Then I was charged for an extra bowl of color– the whole system doesn’t make sense because it is not enough for even a basic color process so it just seems like an elaborate process to make extra money. I was there for 7+ hours total (we stayed past closing– the teacher had even left so my student was without any guidance), and I think my beautician was in a rush so she took the color off early and it hadn’t stained properly. I had also requested a haircut, but the time management was so poor that we didn’t get to that. My final bill was insane– much higher than I had expected, basically salon price and I didn’t get near salon results, or even results worth what I paid. I called back and the manager was completely unhelpful– there was nothing I could do. So I went back the next week and requested a color correction. I turned up at the salon where I was informed there was no hot water, so I was sent back home. Granted, I did have a morning appointment but I wasn’t the first appointment and they should have called me BEFORE reaching for my appointment to let me know I had to cancel my appointment. On top of that, the receptionist was extremely rude and had a terrible attitude– not sure how that works when you are the first person the clients meet. So I retuned a *third* time, and I had a different student and a more experienced teacher overseeing, so I was happier with the second correction. I still had to pay for the second correction despite all the problems we had with the first service. I would have liked to had all the services done properly the first time I went (cut, bleach/​color) especially considering I spent my entire day at the salon. I was upset at the price they charged for the unforgivable results, on top of which I didn’t even receive the haircut I requested. Don’t expect the management to be helpful at all. Most of the teachers are very nice, getting a good student is all a game of luck. I don’t recommend getting any color treatment done here, ever. But as far as haircuts and blowouts go, this place is great.

I suppose it does depend on who you have working on your hair. My sister and I went (after a coworker had said she had a positive experience there) but were unhappy with the results. Unfortunately the student I had didn’t speak any English so we were unable to communicate without the instructor present. Luckily I only needed some buzz clipping done and it was easy enough to tell her that. My sister didn’t fair as well as I did and asked for long choppy pieces. Instead the front of her hair was left long (virtually uncut) and the back of her hair was cut abnormally short and then styled in a way for the student to attempt to hide what they had done.
I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, unless you’re willing to take a huge risk that is.

Great place! Students are staff and fun and professional. Students are okay asking for help. Instructors are great educators, so that all students can do all textures of hair and will jump right in so you look and feel great! I paid $ 15 for a wash, blow dry and flat iron… super awesome!
Don’t forget you get valet parking at no charge. This place is clean, fun, inexpensive and you don’t walk away feeling like you get what you paid for at the end. You’ll probably have to tweak it at the end but just let the instructors know. They are super friendly!!!

Horrible school. For starters, the kit supplied (for over $ 2,000) leaves plenty to be desired. Secondly, the enforcement of regulations is not only inconsistent, but unforgiving. If you have an off day and miss a beat you are most likely out of luck.
Inconsistency seems to be their motto here as what you learn never stays true between classes. Get ready to learn something in the beginning that will be invalidated later on.
Finally, their method of tracking your hours is archaic and recipe for headache and frustration.
Not worth the $ 20,000. Bring your hard earned money elsewhere.

Wanted dark blue hair got light blue. But, loved the service and they really did their best! I’ll be back to get darker ;-)

Wonderful school! Everyone knows what they’re doing. Recently I had gold highlights put into my auburn hair. Krista Z. did such a good job my hair looks like fire and everyone loves it :)

I went to this school in 1979, my Dad when to this school 1956, I went back in 2009 for my teaching degree and taught here until 2011. I had a great experience and hire from this school on a regular. I highly recommend for all your scholarly and employee hiring needs. Yep I really liked my years of Parisian beauty Academy you know the comp family gosh they go way back and I don’t think my dad was the first graduating class I think they’ve been since this like 1950 and if I remember he was really cutting-​edge on all kinds of new equipment and supplies like the solis hot comb which turn into the Solis iron and the Solano blowdryers and all that so really GREAT place with a rich history in hairstyling.

I visited the salon, which is nice, clean and organized, with the intention of getting a drastic change… and boy am I lucky to have gotten the stylist I did? Claudia is amazing! And, based on my experience, has a great future as a hair professional. She is friendly, attentive, and although she is still a student, very knowledgeable.
I wish I could say the same about the instructors. I became very familiar with Fernando because Cesar was «too busy» attending to other students and getting a haircut himself. Due to his lack of instructions, my hair challenge turned into a two day project.
Thankfully Fernando assisted and directed Claudia in order to meet my expectations. He was beyond great.
Thanks to Claudia and Fernando my experience was a positive one. Will definitely come back and recommend Claudia. I would rate Cesar 2 ½ stars.

I really like this place. I first purchased a groupon deal for hair and nail services. The nail services: um, no. Their pedicure (at least when I went) was me soaking my feet in one of those at-​home foot spa tubs (wasn’t turned on), then painting my nails. The manicure was a bit more decent but I’d rather go to a salon, pay the 8 – 10 bucks and get a great job done.
For hair: so far, yay! Although they do take a long time, they’re students. Doing somebody’s hair is a big responsibility, so I’m glad that they took their time, asked teachers what to do and did a good job (instead of hurrying through it and doing something that I wouldn’t like in the end). I’ve gotten my hair cut, colored, and trimmed, and they always went conservative and I had to goad them into chopping more and more hair off. Which I absolutely appreciate.
I also came for an updo and brought in a picture. Although it wasn’t as close to the picture as I would have liked, she still did a great job and the updo stayed perfectly intact for three days! (It was a party week!)
I think for some services they do charge you more to get a more experienced student versus a newer one, but the prices are still cheaper than salon services and I would definitely come back for haircuts, trims and updos.

I had an awesome experience. Everyone was knowledgable from products to execution. The staff was trendy and chic. I felt comfortable from walking in to leaving. Def try this for an affordable awesome style.

the facials, paraffin treatments, and microdermabrasion at the skin center are a great deal… I would say the same about the nail area too but it’s disgusting and no one seems to know what they are doing there.

OK. downgrade to 2 stars because I went back for another cut and this guy took over 3 hours to cut my hair (about 3 inches shorter than I asked!) and blow dry it. I left crying. seriously, I was in tears and the manger refused to do anything about it, basically telling me that this is what I should expect from a school.
Apparently, it’s a crap shoot at Parisian. you might be pleasantly surprised or you might pay to get your hair cut way shorter than you wanted and have to wait hours and hours to have it done.
