The USS Ling is a hidden gem of a museum in North Jersey. A decommissioned submarine, it has really informative walking tours of a sub whose lack of war-time action has left it a near-pristine representation of what life was like aboard a WWII submarine. I really can’t recommend this place enough. There is also a «garden» of various naval artifacts, including the Kaiten Suicide torpedo and a Vietnam-era Swift boat(no admission necessary). The gift shop/information center has probably seen better days, but this museum has been fighting closing for awhile now, so I’m sure money is tight. I’m not sure how much longer this place will be open, so I urge you to check it out while it’s still accessible. It really saddens me how few visitors this place gets.
