There aren’t enough stars on Unilocal or in THE UNIVERSE to adequately rate David’s. There aren’t enough words in the English language or in ANY LANGUAGE to adequately describe David’s. It is gorgeous in a unique/​vintage/​antique way, and its unlike any other venue I have ever seen. You will get one-​on-​one attention that makes you feel like you are THE only wedding they have ever dealt with, and you will be the only wedding there that day (which is not the case in many venues). Everyone raved about the food, and they have lots of great options. Included in the packages are centerpiece flowers (that can double as ceremony flowers if you have your ceremony there), an awesome cake, and favors (they take apart the centerpieces and make them into beautiful bouquets for all the female guests)…3 less things to worry about doing on your own! Their prices are very affordable compared to other places, especially considering all you are getting. Annnnd Coordinator Carolyn Clark is THE BOMB​.COM!!! She truly goes above and beyond the call of duty and is the most professional yet down to earth AWESOME person ever. Book ASAP to make sure you get the date you want, they fill up quick! Just do it if you want everyone to be talking about your wedding. Also: Fantasy DJs!

The hubby and I were married here a few weeks ago. As just so many of our guests advised, David’s was PERFECT. Just about flawless. I’m going to keep this short since I could literally write pages… and nobody will read it all!
After having been to so many wedding mills, we were looking for something a bit different. Walking into David’s was a breath of fresh air. GORGEOUS. Really romantic and breathtaking. There’s history in every wall with high ceilings, long railings with candles, chandeliers, a huge bar straight out of an old movie, staircases, fireplaces, huge porches, giant windows… wow. They have everything nailed. Tiny cocktail tables all over the place so people aren’t balancing drinks and noshes, restrooms on both levels, old furniture just begging for personalized décor… We had only 85 guests and wanted an intimate venue, although David’s would probably be just as ideal for groups twice as large.
Service was exceptional from the second we walked in (without an appointment) to after the wedding was over. Heather took care of every detail with a sweet smile and sage advice. She was even there in the morning to help set up, going above and beyond. David’s had things available that we hadn’t even thought about, like holders for the table numbers — and options for which ones we wanted! During the wedding, drinks were filled, plates were replaced, people were guided to where they needed to be — and all without even really seeing the servers. Heather and the maitre d’ checked in with us, our parents, and the wedding party to see if we needed anything.
The food was absolutely delicious. I’d read good things (or we wouldn’t have booked the place) and enjoyed the tasting, but the food that day was even better. Bacon-​wrapped scallops, coconut shrimp, pastrami from the carving station, and spanakopita were all highlights of the appetizers (and now my mouth is watering thinking about them). The chateaubriand was fork-​tender and succulent. The salmon with balsamic glaze was just wonderful. Everything was completely awesome.
Cake (from Palermo’s Bakery) and table flowers are included in the package… which is an extraordinary value. David’s was considerably more reasonably priced than several other venues we visited, but everything felt luxurious and top-​quality. We didn’t even need most of the add-​ons since the packages were all generous, including a really cool market bar in the bar room during the cocktail hour (you can use most of the building for the cocktail hour), soup and salad courses, and favors of small flower bouquets for the ladies when leaving.
One thing for couples to consider — you will be the only event at David’s on the day of your event. We’ve been to other weddings where you’re bumping into several brides, or have to be rushed out when another wedding is coming in. There was none of that at David’s. The day was about us, our families, and our friends.
I can’t imagine a better venue or staff.

Attended a wedding there and it was beautiful. The place is clean. The decorations were beautiful. The food was incredible and plentiful. The staff was top notch, very professional and courteous. The only thing negative that I could say was that the food for the sit down dinner came out too slow but it was definitely worth the wait. If I had to plan an event in the future I would consider this place as a possible option.

David’s Country Inn was nothing short of amazing! The site is absolutely gorgeous. The staff is extremely helpful, professional, friendly, and attentive. Carolyn was a pleasure to work with. She was extremely helpful with the entire planning process. She answered all of the questions we had and responded to our emails efficiently. Lisa, the in house florist, did and amazing job on our flowers. She was extremely helpful and had great suggestions. The centerpieces, bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres were all beautiful! And last but not least, Rob our maitre’d. He as well went out of his way to help us and all guests with any requests, small or large. I highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to get married in the Northern NJ area.

This is truly a hidden gem. My husband and I just had our wedding here in May 2015 and the entire experience was everything we could have wanted. The venue itself is a beautiful, historic Inn that has been renovated and well-​maintained over the years. It has so much charm and character, from the huge mahogany bar with stained glass windows to the 1920s-​esque murals in the bathrooms, which I loved! The entire planning process was smooth and effortless. David’s is a family-​run operation and Heather and Carolyn are on top of everything, yet flexible and laid-​back, which is a rare combination for a wedding venue. The food was delicious — and I come from a family that has very high standards when it comes to food! — and the menu is expansive. We did the buffet option and couldn’t believe how many options we had to choose from. I can’t rave about this place enough, it really made our wedding special and enjoyable, and I never worried about anything because I knew I was in good hands. David’s offers a great value for what you get, and it’s pretty convenient (right off route 80, 1.5 hours from NYC) although no one outside of the area seems to know about it.

My brother and sister-​in-​law were recently married here. I didn’t know much about it prior, except from passing the big white building as I went through downtown Hackettstown.
I thought the place was incredible. The service was on point; we were all taken care of by Carolyn, who was there to bring the guys cases of beer as they got ready, help when I lost my phone and instruct us on where to stand and walk as the reception and ceremony begun. The bridal suites were also large and accomomdating for photographers, the bridal party, family and getting ready. The food was delicious. From the appetizers to the buffet dinner, the options were endless. A carnivore or vegetarian would have no problem finding something from the endless menu to choose from.
The atmosphere is elegant and charming. It’s not a place that ridiculously over-​the-​top weddings might take place. It’s personal, warm and inviting. The décor is that almost of a large older house with a beautiful bar and roaring fire to enjoy your cocktails and hors d’œuvre. It has a lovely rustic feel. The dance floor was big enough for 150 guests and the stairs where the bride and groom make their entrance is unforgettable.

David’s Country Inn is a wonderful, magical place! The staff did an amazing job really catering to our personalized needs with every detail. I’m vegan and we worked with the chef to make a menu that was a great mix of our favorite foods (both vegan and non-​vegan). Carolyn worked closely with us with all the specifics, and didn’t miss a beat. We had some family photos and different design elements and they added them to their wonderfully decorated space. The whole wedding seemed completely personalized but David’s had the support of a wedding venue. It was the best of both worlds and I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a unique and personal wedding. Most of all, I love how it is family owned. Chris was always so nice, as was all the staff, and they really created such a great atmosphere. You get the whole place to yourself for the day. It is an amazing and beautiful place!

My son and his wife just got married at David’s. From the day we went to look at the venue until the day of the wedding, everyone there was helpful, professional and very concerned that we would get what we want. The place is very charming and welcoming with a lovely large room for the ceremony/​reception and several smaller rooms for guests to enjoy cocktail hour. We were able to use the upstairs rooms to get ready for the ceremony and they even provided champagne and snacks for the ladies in our party. The food was delicious and just kept coming. We were delayed getting to the cocktail hour and they went out of their way to make sure we got everything we wanted. After ordering a drink made differently than usual, I just had to ask and they remembered how I wanted it. Dinner and dessert were abundant and delicious, even though we were full we had to keep trying everything, it was that good. While this venue would not work for a very large wedding, it was the perfect place for us and we highly recommend it.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at David’s in August 2010. I could not have been happier, and people are STILL talking about how wonderful our reception was four years later!
Leading up to the wedding, the staff was courteous and kind, and made sure that all our questions were answered. They worked with us regarding payment options, and helped us figure out how to get what we wanted while still remaining within our budget. They spent a lot of time with us, and I appreciated that then (and still do!).
The day of, everything was just the way we had planned: The Bridal Suite was great for the private cocktail hour for the wedding party. The food both during the cocktail hour and dinner was delicious! The rooms were all arranged with enough seating to make our guests comfortable. The space itself was beautiful — the large, historic building created a really unique atmosphere for our day/​evening. My parents were florists, and David’s did an excellent job of working with them to place the floral decorations around the building. I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful reception.
I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

My husband and I got married at David’s on 10÷26÷13. It was truly a dream and David’s staff helped make our day wonderful. David’s comes with the full package — beautiful venue, great food, flowers and cake included. We couldn’t have chosen a better venue. Thank you Chris and Carolyn especially!

I am booking my wedding for June 2014, so far, so good… the owners son, was professional, and patient. Their catalog with the suggested vendors was VERY helpful. It doesn’t hurt that the owners son (family owned business) went to Johnson & Wales University– needless to say, he knew what he was doing!

My brother and his soon-​to-​be bride have elected to have their reception here at Davids Country Inn. We were there yesterday for them to sign their contract and make their first payment. The venue told them to bring us all along since none of the family had seen the venue. Carolyn took a lot of time with us, touring us (myself and my parents and the bride’s parents) around the entire location, answering questions and showing us all the special little nooks and hideaways in this great old building. What was supposed to be a simple 5 minute signing and money collection turned into a 45 minute experience for all of us and no one working at the venue seemed bothered by that at all.
I’ll update this review as we continue to work with them over the next several months, but as of right now, I’m impressed with the personal service.
Have I mentioned that the place is awesome?! Guess not, so here it is: it’s a great space too!!!

Excellence on every level. I highly recommend David’s for weddings big or small.
The venue is charming and intimate, warm and inviting. The food creative and delicious with fare that can be both fun and sophisticated. The service was professional and friendly. The best part: they are very reasonably priced.
Chris, the owner and a Johnson & Wales graduate maintained an attention to detail ensuring that all of our needs were met.
A minor glitch with the flowers was readily identified, addressed and solved by the intrepid Lisa, to whom my new wife and I are also grateful.

Meh. I was crazy about this venue for a while but had a disappointing experience with a certain staff member. Be warned — if food is one of your priorities, DCI has a Nazi-​likely policy on no pre-​tasting. When we tried to negotiate with them, someone on staff said, «We don’t need your business.»
But– the venue is lovely and they do only one wedding per day– I trust the attention to detail is there. Still, the sales process was a hassle!

I had a great time at a wedding at David’s. I actually think that David’s is rather different from a typical banquet facility. Nothing cheesy, flashy, or glaring. The main room is kind of like… if you had a mansion and wanted a tastefully decorated ballroom as part of your home. The cocktail area was beautiful — lots of old, dark wood, and there were little, well decorated, parlor-​like areas to sit if you wanted a little bit of quiet (open throughout the wedding).
Cocktail hour food, was good, and the baked Brie was a yummy, unique touch. Drinks were great. For the entrée, I had a vegetarian pasta, which was good, though I can’t comment on the «real» entrees offered. I also didn’t have the butternut squash soup, because it contained sausage (and our server was kind enough to come over and tell me that beforehand, though she didn’t offer a substitute). The salad was awesome!!! Very fall, with beets and seeds and overall seasonal deliciousness. Definitely the best salad I’ve had at a wedding, and something I’d certainly order at a restaurant.
There were a couple of small drawbacks (nothing’s perfect). It was a little bit obstacle-​course-​ish to get to the bar from the ballroom. It was in the cocktail hour room, and you had to wind your way around pillars and servers to get there (unless you wanted to cross the dance floor). *I think there was some table service for drinks. Also, the bathroom was really small (stalls were TINY, I could barely fit with my coat) and I am pretty sure not handicapped accessible. I wouldn’t necessarily let those things keep you away, though, just some things to consider.
If you are looking for a non-​standard wedding venue, I’d definitely check out this place. It’s beautiful, the employees are friendly, and the food and drinks are good. It’s also in a super-​cute area, so your guests can check out downtown Hackettstown or its surroundings, if they stay over.

I got married at David’s country in yesterday, 9÷29÷12. The best word to describe David’s Country Inn is «Magical». From the time I made my first inquiry phone call 7 months ago I knew that this place was special. I got off the phone with Chris, one of the owners and said to myself this was the nicest person I had spoken to in my hunt for a venue. From there we worked with his sister, Jordan, who guided us through the entire process of planning our wedding at David’s. Everything was taken care of and it made our wedding planning EASY. Another plus about our package at David’s was that all of our table flowers were included. Our wedding cake was ALSO included in our package and Palermo Bakery (they make cakes for Tom Cruise, for instance) was also included. My family was impressed with the tasting, particularly because many venues do not offer this service. The staff was pleasant and very hard working. They made my entire family feel at home. And that’s exactly what Davids was for our wedding day, a home. The venue looks like and old Mansion, they only do one event a day (no bride A and bride B), and we were able to add our special touches. They made our signature rum punch, we were able to incorporate my Aunt’s special conch dish into cocktail hour, we had old family photos scattered throughout.
Long and short of it, David’s Country Inn – from the venue to the staff – is the ideal location for a wedding.

I recently went to David’s for a wedding reception.
The venue is lovely — nothing too different from other reception venues though. This place is in Hackettstown, off of Route 80. I feel bad for anyone traveling for a Friday night wedding and taking route 80 W, as 80 W on a Friday night is comparable to traffic hell.
I like how the DJ area can be set up on the second floor, thus maximizing space for seating and dance floor. The acoustics were fine and the sound worked well, coming from the second floor space.
In terms of food… hmmm…You know that saying, «Save the best for last»? Well, David’s runs on a theory opposite of that saying. The food started out stellar and then went downhill with each additional course.
I’ll start off with the good news: cocktail hour was awesome! Trays and platters were kept full and food temperature was perfect throughout the whole cocktail hour. The fresh fruit and cheese spread was delicious. Clams casino was good. The star, however, was the bacon wrapped scallops! They were amazing. As a sidenote, the staff also did an effective job of circulating around the room with smaller apps, such as mini-​crabcakes and mini-​tacos.
First course was a lemon sorbet and fresh fruit «shish-​kabob.» No complaints there.
The salad was just romaine, some grated parmesan, and some dressing. The presentation was poor and the taste was not anything spectacular. I only had two bites.
The true disappointment was dinner. I got chicken with eggplant, proscuitto, and mozarella. The proscuitto was in the form of little, greasy strips. I was expecting fresh mozarella, but instead got a melted slab of cheese. My friend got a fish platter, but the fish was ruined with a cream sauce and pureed pumpkin/​yams/​butternut squash… we weren’t sure which one it was. After having such a great cocktail hour, I was disappointed with the main course.
Dessert was ok. The cannolis were delicious, but everything else was just average. Unfortunately, the red velvet cake was one of the worst I have ever had.
David’s is a fine venue for a wedding, but if you’re looking for something «different»,” then you should look somewhere else.
