Dr. Gupta completed his medical school training at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India in 1977. He completed his formal residency training in New York City and at SUNY Buffalo, NY.
He is board certified in Nuclear Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology. He received his fellowship training in PET at the University of Pennsylvania in 1988. He served as Assistant and Associate Professor at Creighton University and later as Full Tenured Professor of Radiology at West Virginia University until 2003.
He is nationally recognized for his work; specifically for pioneering clinical applications of PET imaging in Lung Nodules and Lung Cancer. Along with serving on various national committees, he has presented many scientific papers and delivered talks at national and regional meetings. Over 100 of his scientific articles have been published in peer reviewed journals.
