Allied Fence

Do not waste your money doing business with this company. I made the mistake of paying them to install my fence which was a nightmare. It never closed properly and their answer to fix it was to turn the door around so that the inside latches are now on the outside. Makes for an interesting entrance. Clearly, the money I paid was basically a waste since I have to redo the entire fence. It still doesn’t close properly and never has. It isn’t lined up correctly. They shouldn’t be in business not to mention someone needs an education on customer service — it is a joke.

Unprofessional Company
My Sister in Waukegan booked Allied Fence June 27 and made a down payment of $ 700 to complete her fence. As of today August 16^th, there’s has been no communication from them, she was once told they did not have enough help in the office. They should have told her that they were short staff prior to taking her down payment. She was told they were two weeks out but almost two months now without communication or responding to voicemail that’s just not acceptable, and very unprofessional.
Allied obviously didn’t want my sister to use any other contractor so instead of being honest about their timeline, they lied and took her money. As of Thursday 8÷14÷13, their voice mail was full and not accepting any more message. This is my attempt Allied to complete the job they promise my sister or refund her money.
I had my fence done by Anaya & Sons and it was awesome. Sergio at Anaya & Sons is very, very professional, honest and does work timely. My sister did not use them because they are in the Bellwood area but they are great. They give great service and not the awful service that Allied Fence displays.

This was the most unprofessional company I have ever had experiences with — Not only did they not show up when scheduled, they charged my credit card twice for my down payment, which it took them over a month to rectify, ultimately it took a trip to the business from my husband to stand and wait while they wrote out a check.
On three occasions they failed to show to install, when I would call I would get an office supervisor who knew nothing about our install and would make promises to call back but never would. 6 weeks after signing the contract I finally had to resort to legal action and cancellation before they showed up at the house without an appointment and without calling first, and proceeded to install the fence when no one but my daughter at the house; who had to leave before they were finished before going to work. I was out of state, so had to have faith the job would be completed.
They do not answer emails, nor return phone mail messages. Get all your transactions in writing. As I type this review I’m looking at an invoice that has overcharged me by $ 500, including a charge for changes in the fence that I did not make nor authorize, and an additional charge for permits which is not spelled out in the quote.
Ultimately the fence is fine and looks nice we’ve had a lot of compliments. The only complaint with the actual fence is that I had specifically confirmed that the spacing of the slates be no more than 3 inches as I have a small dog that I was concerned might fit through the spacing otherwise, the reality is that the spacing is pretty inconsistent.
Regardless of the fence ultimately turning out nicely, I cannot recommend using this company due to the shear unprofessionalism of how this company handled the installation process.

My wife and I moved into our home last year, and among the various house projects we knew that needed to be tackled was our fence. Our yard requires a fence because of our pool, and with a puppy soon on the way it was time to get this project set in stone.
I [thought] that I had conducted my research on a majority of fence companies in the Chicagoland area, and as you can see there are some positive reviews here on Unilocal as well.
To share my experience, we had Allied come and give us a free estimate in early May of 2013. They were honest and upfront about the work that needed to be done. We took another 2 weeks to shop around and get estimates from other companies in the area, but my wife and I ultimately decided to go with Allied based on reviews, our experience with them, and the cost.
And here’s where the problems began. Before you read on, I want you to understand the time frame for this project began in May of 2013 and communication came to a full stop at the end of July. This is part of the reason I’m driven to write a review.
Allied Fence’s office will almost never answer a phone call. You will, often times, be unable to leave any messages as their voice mailbox is full. This makes it EXTREMELY difficult to get in contact with them. I have written emails to them that have all gone completely unanswered. The business email is a yahoo address — something I find hard to take seriously when being a reputable business is having one generic email at a publicly obtainable domain.
After having contacted their office several times to set a date, my wife was informed they needed the contract signed before they could schedule a date. This seems like an odd way to conduct business. Why would I enter an agreement with someone if the servicing party can’t give you a date the work will begin? This was our first warning sign.
Allied also claimed that they needed a credit card on file, but it wouldn’t be charged until the contract was signed. Now, my wife is a teacher and sees the best in people, so she obliged trusting that the money wouldn’t be charged until we signed and returned the contract. To no surprise of mine at all, the card was charged without having the contract in their hands. After a phone conversation with their office, I was told they consider a credit card on file to be a contractual agreement. This raised the question of why my wife was told the card wouldn’t be charged, while I’m being told that’s the binding agreement. All of this without a signed contract in their hands.
I asked if they could provide me with a certificate of insurance to prove that their workers have coverage in case of an accident. This request went 100% completely ignored. It was almost as if they didn’t hear me say it verbally over messages, nor did they even read it in the emails I wrote.
During that very same phone conversation, I told them that the contract would be in their hands as soon as they gave me a date and time. We settled on the upcoming Tuesday after 2:00 PM. Being reasonable, I understand that after 2:00 PM does not mean 2:00 PM — it means a reasonable time after the said hour and not hours later. In my case, they never showed up and never called. When we called them at 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM, we were put on hold for 3 minutes and told we would be called back in 15 minutes after the crew was contacted. We were not called back. We called back in the morning, understandably upset, and were told the crew would come that day at 5:00 PM instead. To no surprise at all, they didn’t show up the next day either. Two days in a row saying they would show up, and neither day they showed up.
Have you ever had a business set a date and time[frame] only to not show up and not call to inform you that they wont be arriving at all that day?
No apologies were offered, no call backs were given, no emails were responded to, and no requests to provide further information about their organization were granted. With roughly a quarter of a year passing since we first attempted to enter into a contract with them, the work still has not been preformed.
I wish that I could write my review with some integrity to the quality of their actual work and performance, but as the work has not been conducted yet I have nothing to write about.
I strongly advise that you consider finding other companies if you have repairs that need to be made on your fence. Based on my overall experience, I would also recommend avoiding business with this company in any degree.

My wood fence needed extensive repairs. Service Magic had 3 companies give me estimates, and I called 4 more companies. I had another company under contract since July, they never showed up!
Allied Fence gave me a price right in the middle of the pack. They were available to repair my fence within a week, so I hired them.
I then read the negative reviews on this site as well as a couple others and was very concerned. I used my credit card for the deposit for protection in case they didn’t show up.
They were able to fit in my repairs a day earlier than promised! I had 6 posts dug out and replaced, repaired/​re-​hung 2 gates and 2 panels and had some other miscellaneous boards replaced.
They showed up first thing in the morning as it started raining. The guys were polite and professional. I left, came back a few hours later. The repairs were perfect, better than expected. They did NOT leave a mess.
Everyone I spoke to and dealt with was wonderful. Really. I could not find the article that Kathy P. recommends that apparently portrays this company as a «shady operation». I suspect this is a disgruntled neighbor as they live in the same town.
I spent the time to write this review because honestly I have never had anything but horrible home repair/​remodeling experiences in my 15 years as a homeowner.

I was in desperate need of a basic chain link fence for our yard. I had been contacting plenty of companies, receiving estimates and could not find a company that both had decent reviews and a fair price to go along with it. I was about to give up when I decided to post on craigslist. Allied Fence responded to my ad immediately. They emailed me a proposal and contract which I sent back with the measurements. The price was extremely fair and installation was completed in a few hours. Easy to work with and would definitely recommend.
