Link’s Mufflers and Brakes Discounts

I make an appointment at three to have my car checked out for my exhaust system. The man who I spoke to that said I can come at three was not even there to help me. Apparently he’s the «boss» and can be back whenever. I ask the guy working there to call him for me to see when he would be back and he said he won’t even answer there’s no point. I tell the man working with me if he can help me. He wasn’t very experienced and did not even know what an axleback exhaust was. This is something someone who fixes exhausts for a living should definitely know. I realized if I can’t even be helped verbally or guarenteed an appointment that I made then there is no way they will do quality work on my car. I asked the man don’t you guys care if you get my business he replies by saying I have plenty of work in the garage I dont need your business. So in reptrospect I can’t really say how their actual work is but the the fact that I couldn’t even get past the lobby dosen’t say much for this shop. I advise you all to stay away, unless you want to make a trip there for nothing.

Charles Dickens could have been describing this place in the opening words of A TALE OF TWO CITIES. Walking into the «office» at Link’s Mufflers is a TAXIesque experience. We thought that we were going to find Danny DeVito behind the counter. You won’t find any amenities here. No complimentary coffee or Wi-​Fi. No free loaner cars. Even the seating in the cramped waiting area is no-​frills. It’s actually reclaimed car seats. No joke. Fancy schmancy. But what you WILL find here is an honest repair shop that does good work at reasonable prices.

We know our way around a car, and we do almost all of our own repairs, from brake jobs to electrical repairs, to once rebuilding the engine on our old Pontiac. We bought the parts necessary to replace our current vehicle’s exhaust system, but once we got into the job, realized we needed more work done than we could do ourselves.
We had never used Link’s before, but we stopped in for an estimate. Unlike most shops, they actually invited us into the work area while the car was up on the lift, and went over the work that was necessary. This alone gave us confidence in the shop. We feel that a good restaurant will never have a problem with letting you see their kitchen, and Link’s had invited us into their «kitchen». They agreed to use the parts we had already purchased, and gave us a reasonable price for the job.
They completed the job in a half-​day, which is more than we can say for any dealership service department or body shop we’ve ever used. When we picked up the car, they once again invited us to see the work they had done, while the car was still up in the air. Not all customers will care to see how the sausage is made, and many wouldn’t know the difference between a tail pipe and a tailbone, but we do, and we appreciated their willingness to show us. We wish we could give them more than 5 stars.
Great mechanics, fair prices, zero attitude, quick work, and respect for their customers. We would be doggone crazy to ever go anywhere else for auto repairs.
P. S. — Despite another reviewer’s comments, we don’t consider Haledon, New Jersey to be a dangerous area. True, Beverly Hills it’s not. It’s a working-​class town, not unlike many other towns in North Jersey. Link’s is next door to a shopping center and Post Office, and just down the street from William Paterson University. And by the way, they appear to do all types of automotive repairs, not just mufflers and brakes.

If you aren’t afraid of driving into the neighborhood and drop off/​wait for your car in a less luxurious settings — you will be rewarded with economic pricing and quick quality work.
I waited 1 hr (due to other customers), gentleman diagnosis my problem within a minute, exhaust work took 20 minutes, economical bill and on my way.
Will use them again and no appointment necessary just bring a book or PodCast to wait and listen to.

Went in a few times with my car. Gave me a great deal for paying cash. I had to replace my cat twice and i bought the part for him. The owner was really honest and did the job quick. I have to go back to do shocks and struts and still gave me a great pice. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Went there today to get my exhaust fixed. Owner quoted me a really fair price and the work was done right there while I waited. I overheard a couple estimates and they sounded very reasonable as well. Chit chatted with the owner a bit, seemed like an honest no bullshit shop.
I’ll definitely be taking my car back in the future.

A great shop for general car repair work and maintenance.
I have been going to this shop since I bought my first car. They installed a fart can on my Acura integra lol. For those not familiar with the ricer lfestyle, a fart can is an exhaust that s extremely loud made specifically to make the driver look like an idiot in his $ 2,000 car and to help annoy your neighbors.
To me I was in heaven, a young idiot who wanted to annoy the world. Then I grew up and still go to ths shop for brake jobs when I am to lazy to just do it myself and for oil changes.
The owner of the shop is there pretty much every day and you an trust him and his mechanics to do an honest job for a fair price.
