For the area, it’s pretty awesome. Sure there is better in town, but who has fried noodles, tasty spam musubi, cone sushi and hot dog all in one spot?

Heard about it on Food Network and also recommended from a friend. Shrimp plate is good, and the chicken is good. Pie is ok. Prices are about 10 – 13 per plate for lunch/dinner. Not terribly friendly service. They do take debit cards.

Funny this place isn’t on Unilocal. We first heard about it when Rachel Ray had a show for cheap eats in the area. We were actually looking for Storto’s deli for some sandwiches but stumbled across this place. They have pictures which got our attention. Lots of mix plates, bento boxes. Nothing really drew my eye except for the grilled rib-eye steak. But decided that it was a little over priced considering that my hubby makes the best steak. So my hubby ordered the teri steak(came with 2 scoops rice, 1 scoop mac salad) and I ordered the shoyu chicken(came with 2 scoops rice, 1 scoop mac salad and some noodles(chow fun thinkness)). I thought the teri beef was better than my chicken but after eating it thought it was too salty like my chicken. The mac salad was good though. Didn’t care for the noodles. It was warm noodles with some onions and some meat mixed in. I probably won’t go back. Thought it was too salty in general but I’m pregnant so it could just be my changing tastebuds.

Meh, it was ok. My order of one piece each of fried chicken, shoyu chicken, shirmp tempura and cone sushi were neatly placed in a plastic bento box secured with rubber bands. Reminds me of field trip lunches growing up in Hawaii– staleness and all, the fried chicken held up well sitting at the beach as we built our appetites. I also ordered a separate thing of hot dog musubi, wish I got spam instead. I thought they used Redondo’s hot dog in the musubi but it wasn’t! The shrimp tempura had a little bit of crunch left by the time I bit into it. The shoyu chicken was tasty but then again I dunno how you can mess up shoyu chicken. My boyfriend asked for a chicken katsu and teri beef plate but got sweet and sour pork spareribs instead which wasn’t disappointing. Cheap and decent. Go early, cash only.

It’s not bad. Not great but not bad. Definitely a cheap and authentic alternative to the tourist traps. The deluxe bento box is huge and we shared it between us along with a can of guava juice. Really tasty but avoid the red velvet cake. It’s NOT the«real» red velvet cake. Which is a bummah brah. Suppah cheap tho…$ 9.63 total. Cash only.

Awhile back, on one of our many excursions to visit grandpa in Waialua, R and I bought lunch from North Shore Country Okazo & Bento. They were featured on the Rachael Ray $ 40 a Day show and since I didn’t want to have McDonalds again for lunch, we agreed to give it a try. The store looked bigger and seemed to have more food selections on TV in comparison as to when we walked in. It was a rather small mom and pop place and since we were already inside, we did not want to be rude and walk out. So we each ordered our own plate. It was a little hard trying to decide what to pick as not all the food selections were tagged but we somehow managed to make a plate lunch consisting of chow fun, fried saimin, korean garlic chicken, shrimp tempura, shoyu hot dog and spam musubi. The food was a-okay and a tad bit cold ~ not to my liking.
