Serenity In Style Salon

I was looking for a new hairstylist as the last few times my current hairstylist has cut my hair I wasn’t too pleased with it. On a whim I called this salon after driving past it and was immediately given an appointment that evening. I was pleasantly surprised at how friendly the staff was immediately upon my entrance for my appointment. The shampoo girl was super nice. I had an appointment with Connie and she was also extremely friendly and accommodating to the pictures I had brought of the hairstyle I was trying to achieve. She is a very experienced and knowledgeable as well as professional stylist and it shows in every detail. Let me just say I was more than satisfied with my cut and the overall service I received from the staff. Connie was amazing and I can’t wait to come back for my next cut and possibly a color treatment at this salon.

First of all I want to say that the massage therapist is fantastic– I am a massage therapist myself and am very picky so it is a compliment like no other coming from me. She put a fan on me and gave me the pillows I needed (I am currently pregnant) made me laugh but also knew when to be quiet as to let me enjoy my massage. She was empathetic and understood what I needed. Loved her personality. Then I made an appointment with the nail tech Tammy and she was lovely; got me in as soon as she could and did an amazing job at a very affordable price.
The reason for four stars is prior to calling and booking my massage appointment, I called at least four other times to try to get my hair done and no one EVER answers the phone! I had to get the personal numbers of the LMP and Nail Tech because the receptionists are never there!(But on a Saturday there was two and the place wasn’t that busy so kind of made no sense)
Also, upon checking out from my massage the receptionist smelled of smoke so horribly and to be honest that’ll make anyone fly out the door as fast as possible. It really was bad. I am a former smoker so I understand, but yikes; in a salon area you really want to be more «cleaned up.» Other than that, I’d love to get my hair done there but can’t get a hold of anyone to do so.

Prior to finding Serenity in Salon, my hair was fried, damaged, unmanageable, uneven, not blended properly, you name it my hair was a mess. My eyebrows were sparse, and thin. I moved to Arbutus and came to Serenity as a new client asking for my usual blonde highlights, after consulting, the hair dresser warned me against it, due to the damage that was done by other salons improperly lightening my hair, it wasn’t in my best interest to continue lightening. I allowed her to do what she thought was best. Serenity in Salon helped nurse my hair and eyebrows back to health. 4 years later I’m still a returning client. My hair is manageable, long and healthy, my eyebrows are full, I had no idea my eyebrows could look this amazing. My hair is as healthy as it was before I started coloring and lightening, I haven’t had hair like this since I was 12! It feels good to know I can trust Serenity in Salon to give me what I want. They care enough about my appearance to be truthful, not everyone knows what is best for their own hair, these women are truly educated. I learn at least one new beauty tip every time I go in. The salon’s atmosphere is positive, friendly, everyone there is like family, and they treat their clients as such. I’m shocked at what the other review says, and think it’s definitely a misunderstanding, just because the esthetician double dipped does not mean the salon is unsanitary, when I first started going to them 4 years ago they’d get out new wax, just for me, eventually I stopped paying attention to that part, so I’m not sure how they do it now, but I trust it’s up to the proper standard. The owner prides herself on giving each and every client a positive experience. As a busy Mother of two, this salon is an absolute savior for me. It’s my retreat, a place where I can relax, and get some me time.

She double dipped — DURING A BIKINI WAX!!! Enough said. Enjoy having my pubic cells smeared all over your face when you go in. Disgusting. That is Hygiene 101 and there is no excuse for it. I will never go here again.
