Specialties

CTS sells, installs, services and repairs residential and commercial furnaces, water heaters, and major home appliances including clothes washers and dryers, dishwashers, stoves including vintage models, ovens, refrigerators and garbage disposals. If you have an older major appliance and want to know if it’s best to repair or replace, we can provide an assessment for you. We also service most of the local restaurants to keep their commercial equipment running optimally. Stop by our Princeton warehouse for reconditioned washers, dryers, refrigerators or «do it yourself» appliance repair parts. We offer in-​shop repairs for a large variety of items, so please call to see if we can assist you. If we can’t, we can probably refer you to someone coastside who can. Serving the coastside since 1988, we still believe in doing business by a handshake.

History

Established in 1988.

Coastside Technical Service opened as a one-​man operation. We are currently a company of three full-​time technicians and an office manager. Originally located on Main Street in Half Moon Bay, we are now located at the Princeton Harbor and we’ve grown through word-​of-​mouth referrals from satisfied coastside customers for over 20 years.

Business Owner

Jim opened CTS in 1988 and has been serving the coastside for 20 years. He is well known locally as the owner of an antique Holsman automobile that he drives and brings out for community events. He is also a Viet Nam veteran.

I can’t say enough good things about my 2 recent experiences with this great local resource! Phone calls answered promptly, a repairman to the house to diagnose and FIX the problem, sometimes even the same day! First was for a broken dryer, and second was for dryer and air duct cleaning. Everyone who came was super polite, professional, neat, courteous and best of all, fixed the problems. Very reasonably priced, I will use them again for other issues that are coming up, and feel a lot of confidence in their work.

Outstanding service! Michelle arranged the repair time immediately to accommodate my work schedule, Mark was there within 10 minutes, diagnosed and fixed the dryer problem in a jiffy, and gave me advice on 2 other issues at the same time. Professional, affable and affordable — highly recommend!

Spoke to a person answering the phone not once, but twice to schedule an appointment to check out a heat system. She said she would call back with an appointment time and assured that an appointment would be made for the next week. never did. called on Monday and confirmed that info was correct, she politely confirmed that she had the right info. still nothing.
If you don’t want the business then don’t answer the phone, but don’t lie to a consumer. total run around from the gal on phone. unprofessional, do not suggest

I called Coastside Technical this morning, expecting the usual negotiation about when I could expect a tech to show up to fix my dryer vent.
Michelle, their friendly receptionist, said, «How about a half an hour?» Uh, yeah, that’ll work. :-)
Rodney showed up twenty minutes later. Polite, professional and knowledgeable. (His assistant was great, too, but I did not catch his name.) They went right to work and fixed my dryer vent in twenty minutes. Also educated me about best practices to help ensure it stays working.
They cleaned up the work site thoroughly and were done in under a half and hour. I am thrilled. If only other trades professionals were as responsive, efficient and polite.

After our dryer had been making very loud and clonking noises for a week, it completely stopped. The back circular metal back in the inside of the dryer had fallen into the dryer. I called coastside technical since they were close. Michelle was very helpful in scheduling and accommodating my husbands schedule and the tech was out in a couple days. He was polite and diagnosed the problem quickly. He had to go back to the shop to get parts and was back to the house within minutes (I guess the shop is pretty close), and it was fixed! The price was great, service was prompt and friendly.

When the dishwasher threatened to die because of a broken latch I called Coastside Technical Services. Michelle was very helpful and gave us a 2 hour window (compared to 5 hours with Sears) for waiting for service man. Steve was really professional and concerned about making sure the dishwasher was working correctly. He worked steadily and even addressed another issue that he thought might be a problem. I highly recommend this company and will use it in the future.

Dropping from 5 to 4 stars. Needed some help with a water heater and they had no one who could come out that day. I discovered on my own that the problem was a bad thermocouple and they wanted to charge $ 140 to replace it the following day. I bought the part for $ 7 and did it myself in 20 minutes. It works great.
Still keeping the 4 stars because of past positive experiences.

Coastside tech has bailed us out several times! Washing machine, dryer, oven furnace… everytime they’ve been called they’ve responded promptly, Usually fixing our appliances in the same visit! The employees are courteous and take the time to explain problems in lay-​mans terms. Every coastsider should have them on speed dial!

I have hired Coastside Technical for several different needs. Determining if an ancient fridge could be fixed… (the part cost more than the fridge) trouble shooting a dryer… (he did), installing a washing machine… saving me from a leaking dishwasher after it was improperly installed by a Sears contractor…
Coastside Technical’s folks show up when they say they will, take their time to do the job right, and try to save me money where they can. They are highly knowledgeable and completely reliable.

Repaired our 33 year old forced air gas fired furnace. On time, as promised, called ahead, professional and clean.
It’s GREAT doing business with a local professional repair shop here in El Granada.
Getting a bid for a new energy efficient forced air furnace at the technicians recommendation, with an offer to credit todays repair parts.

not quite sure what is going on with their help at the office with this business. there seems to be a big disconnect with someone relaying messages to the field. have asked to have a quote for a furnace a couple of times in 2011. he came onsite once. we never got a quote. no one returned our calls for followup.
