Mavericks Event Center

My husband and I were very happy with having our Sunday brunch wedding at Mavericks Event Center this past September. The venue was perfect for our small (90 ppl) wedding compared to other venues in the area. We had our ceremony on the lawn, happy hour on the patio and brunch inside.
The venue inside isn’t the prettiest at first, but with some creative decorating, it can really shine. The upstairs bridal area is such a nice bonus as well.
We were first working with Melanie, but after a few months in, we worked with Luciana. Luciana really went above and beyond to make our day a success. We didn’t have an official wedding planner, but did receive a lot of help from a few bridesmaids and my maid of honor. Luckily we had Luciana on our side to help with everything! She was a key player in making everything happen and couldn’t have done it without her help. The staff at MEC were great as well! Big thanks MEC!

This was a great venue for a small scientific conference. We spent two days there from 8 am to 6 pm, including catered breakfast and lunch, as well as snacks about mid-​afternoon and continuous coffee/​tea and a variety of cold beverages.
The food was delicious! I liked the set-​up where they put out the food. They had curtains on each side of the food, so that when they were serving, the kitchen was hidden, but when they were cleaning up or putting out the next round of dishes, they would put the curtain down in front of the food. This seemed to work well.
The view from the deck was spectacular, and the deck had a nice ambience with fire pit and patio furniture.
Inside we had rows of tables facing one end of the room with a large screen and ceiling-​mounted projector. The projector seemed to wash out some colors and was not helped by the glaring sun the first day, but the technical support provided by the staff was second to none!

We held a holiday party at Mavericks Event Center yesterday and it was fantastic! The service and the food were all spectacular and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to do an event at the beach. From the beginning, Melanie was great to work with and Jodie was incredibly helpful on-​site. They rolled with our changes, adapted to the inclement weather and did everything with a smile. The wait staff and bartenders were all incredibly helpful as well, even helping me unload my car with all of our set-​up supplies. Really wonderful experience!

We just got married here on Friday and literally nothing went wrong. Everything was perfect! The Weather, Staff, Food, Decorations, everything was perfect. Everyone is still talking about how great the food tasted and how amazing the staff was… and of course the groom and I agree 100%. I reccommend Mavericks Event Center to everyone and wish we could do it over and over again. Also a very affordable place especially for getting married on the coast.

This place came through for us for our wedding this past September. During the San Andreas fires, our wedding venue was burned to the ground a week before our wedding. Panicked, we quickly started looking for an alternative solution in the incredible my expensive area we live in (SF). They had an opening at Mavericks, put a quote together over the weekend for us and gave us massive discounts because of our crazy situation. Luciana, the event manager, was incredible-​laid back but organized. The food options were a no brainier and a relief for us since we spent 9 months of wedding planning to see it quite literally go up in smoke. In the end, it was a dream wedding we never expected. I would recommend this place to anyone getting married in the Bay Area who wants a nice harbor view, good food, and great service. We really can’t thank them enough for helping us plan a dream wedding in 2 days and for being so flexible.

We had our wedding at Mavericks event Center this past July 18^th, 2015. Mavericks was better than imaginable for our wedding reception. We had 140 people (close to the max) and had cocktail hour on the deck, dinner on the lawn, and then a live band with dancing inside. The Mavericks Event Coordinator did a fantastic job – so organized, friendly, willing to try whatever, reliable and pleasant to work with. Half our family was from california and half from out of town and we are still getting reviews of how it was one of the favorite wedding venues they’ve been too. Things like «I’ve been to 8 weddings this year and yours was our favorite». It is such a beautiful, unique special place. Right along the water without too many other people around makes it really ideal for a wedding reception. Thank you Mavericks for an amazing day, couldn’t have asked for better.

We had our wedding at Mavericks on 08/​03/​2014. This was the perfect venue for a small to medium size wedding or any other kind of event. Due to various reasons, I was a late starter to plan my weddings (from late May). The staff (I worked with Samantha mostly) was wonderful along the whole process to ease my pain of coordinating everything. It belongs to the same company that owns the brewery restaurant close by where we also had our catering done (Which tasted fantastic, we had a tasting scheduled ahead too to set the menu, and they have their own beers! What can you ask for more!!!). We only had around 30 guest, and we were able to setup+decorate the place to make the place look more filled. Though I had lots of hectic moment, everything was perfect! Special thanks to Samantha and all the staffs that was helping during the event.
If you have a relative smaller size event, this is much better than the event center hosted by the nearby hotel, in terms of price, service, and scenery.

Events to Impress Is our company and we coordinated a wedding there this past weekend! What a beautiful setting for a wedding or event. Lucianna and Melanie are amazing to work with. Lucianna went over and above helping us anyway she could. As a wedding planner, I would highly recommend this event center for any occasion. Their staff and food was wonderful as well. My Wife and I got married at the Maverick Event center last weekend ⁷⁄₁₁ and the experience could not have been any better. From the day we booked the venue we had tremendous support from all of the team there. Melanie helped us with our initial visit and questions as well as the tasting, then Luciana took over about with the final details as the date was getting closer. They were very accommodating to any request we had. They always responded to emails in a very timely manner and were extremely organized with their approach.
We did not hire a wedding planner and were doing a lot of the planning and organizing on our own and were blown away the support we got from the team not only leading up to the date but the day of, to us it felt as if we had a wedding planner with us the whole time. Luciana and Felipe took care of all our worries and stresses and allowed us to really enjoy our wedding. From things like setting up the tables and settings the night before to a very quick yet professional breakdown of tables after dinner to make room for dancing everything was done with a smile and as a collaborative effect.
We booked this venue for a large part due to how beautiful of a venue it is but couldn’t be more happy with how the day went and the support we got from the team at the Mavericks event center. We were able to enjoy our wedding and the people that joined us for the special day and a large part of that is due to the staff there.

My husband and I celebrated our wedding and reception at MEC in May of this year and we couldn’t be happier that we picked it because we truly had a perfect day. Melanie and Luciana were wonderful to work with, making everything in the entire process extremely easy. They both went out of their way from day one to make any and every accommodation so that our day would be exactly what we hoped for. They did everything from helping me arrange a surprise musical performance during the ceremony that my husband totally didn’t see coming, to figuring out some meals for folks with special diets, to strategizing layout for the games we set up in the garden for the reception. They are both super experienced and always had great suggestions for any decisions I wasn’t sure how to make and I knew I could rely on them to remember every detail. On top of all the help planning in the weeks before (with menu, seating chart, timeline, etc.), Luciana was basically our unofficial day-​of coordinator and I couldn’t be more grateful for her assistance.
Executive Chef Gaston did an amazing job on all of the food, which was artfully displayed, and the entire wait staff was exceptionally professional and helpful, jumping in at any time to make sure everything went smoothly. Our guests LOVED hanging out on the couches by the fire pit and I know that everyone who was seated outside for dinner was appreciative of the heat lamps. MEC really has every detail covered.
I highly recommend considering MEC for any event. I’m still getting comments from guests about how much they enjoyed the food and the signature drinks, and of course everyone agreed that between the garden and the beautiful harbor views, the venue is really stunning. I really don’t think you can get better quality staff, food, and location for such a bargain anywhere else. It was honestly the best day ever for us and we just wish there had been more hours in that day to enjoy everything longer!

My daughter held her wedding at this beautiful venue on April 11^th. Everything about the event was perfect! It began three months prior with the booking of the center with Melanie. She was beyond helpful with walking us through the process. She was married there so had first hand knowledge on all aspects of the planning process. We even stole some of her decorating ideas!
They were completely accomdodating in helping us with our preferred style which was somewhat casual. We used some of the décor they had and then added some simple centerpices. Our total cost above what they supplied for décor was only about 500 dollars for flowers and favors.
The food was amazing. We chose the lower priced package and added an extra hot appetizer and an additional side and buffet style. Chef gaston worked very carefully with us to accomodate food sensitivities. Everything was clearly labeled for our guests. The food was universally declared as the best wedding food ever… especially difficult to do as a buffet… It was cooked perfectly and not dried out. Chef Gaston takes extreme pride in his food and that extra attention was evident.
Luciana was in charge of the event and handled all the arrangements leading up to the day. She is amazing in that role. The customer service could not be better. She walked us through the beverage choices and ser up plans. We had two signiture cocktails, Moscow Mules and hot buttered rum, which were both huge hits!
Our wedding guests all commented on how wonderful the service was during the reception. They were a professional and couteous group who added to the relaxed ambiance of the wedding. People commented on the natural flow of the evening. They never felt rushed or waiting. Perfection!
As you can see, i can’t say anymore than that. My daughter had a dream of a wedding and her joy was eveident through out the entire evening.

Corporate event review — offsite venue
I had an amazing experience with the Mavericks Event Center and the meeting was a great success. I worked with Melanie for the onset and she was very responsive to my initial inquiry. Throughout the process she was also very flexible and worked with my on all our needs up to the last minute.
From a venue perspective, it was ideal. The food was excellent, the set up was excellent, and the facilities, in general, were all excellent.
We hosted both a breakfast and lunch. The breakfast set up was perfect. It was in the same room as the meeting set up but the room is spacious enough to separate the areas and plenty of room for food and beverage stations. There were tables set up so people could eat away from the meeting area and the deck had heaters on so people could also enjoy the amazing bay views. The lunch was set up during our meeting but they have curtains to separate the staff doing their work so lunch magically appears at the stated time. Everything was choreographed perfectly.
Honestly, I’ve done dozens of these offsites and Mavericks stands out as one of the best. Free parking, separate men’s/ladies bathroom, outdoor space, beautiful views, great food, excellent staff — all around 5 stars.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding reception here and it was an amazing experience. Our consultant, Kevin Hubbart, spent several weeks walking us through all of the options and prices available to us. He was very knowledgeable but gave us room to make our own decisions. He also made sure to add a special touch to the experience — during one layout design meeting, he invited us to Mavericks Brewing Company and presented us with a giant plate of food samples (plus a few drinks). It was a nice touch and we appreciated it!
The day of our reception saw crystal blue skies and warm weather — pretty much perfect. For those of our guests coming from Highway 1, they got an amazing drive by the ocean just getting to the place. The venue has a vintage and slightly nautical theme, and with the natural beauty surrounding us, required relatively little decoration.
We also checked out much more expensive options, but in the end Mavericks blew them out of water on quality as well. These guys are experienced professionals and just made us feel like they understood this event was important to us. They kept us informed the entire way and acted as advisers rather than salesmen.

I had my wedding at the Mavericks center mid august of this year. The whole experience was fantastic. Melanie did a fantastic job of working to make the event happen with my limited budget, including customizing a menu so I could have a full dinner for my guests. Samantha was extremely responsive to my constant email questions and phone calls leading up to the event.
We had an early afternoon ceremony on the lawn and reception afterwards in the building. The staff set up comfy outdoor seating around the fireplace and it was very popular. The deck was so pleasant in the early afternoon that we pushed back our toasts and cake cutting an hour to give everyone more time for cocktail hour outdoors. I was thrilled with the setup and the service provided by the staff. They were all very professional and friendly.
I Highly recommend this venue and the half moon bay company. Big thanks to Samantha for making my day perfect.
Note: If you’re planning a daytime event in the summer its best to wait until 2 or 3 to start as its often foggy in the mornings.

I just hosted our department’s annual conference – a series of talks for four hours, followed by a dinner party for staff and family. The facility, service, food, and drink were fantastic. Top notch. And the location can’t be beat.

We had our wedding there in early August and everything turned out great! The fog cleared in time for the ceremony too. Samantha was a pleasure to work with, very professional and friendly. She was easy going and very responsive.
The sfaff was great setting up the venue, nice to have everything else handled by one vendor (food, snacks, drinks, tables, chairs, etc).
Our friends and family couldn’t get enough of the location– ocean views with a deck over the water. We ended up having around 80 guests and there was plenty of room for everyone, not crowded at all.
Although not many decorations are needed, you’ll still want some. Make sure to plan this out as you don’t have that much time to setup, depending on your ceremony time/​day, but Samantha will gladly help you work these details out.

I recently hosted my daughter’s wedding there. We pushed the team to the limit with 150 seated for dinner. The food was good (some said great), however the service was outstanding! From the Chef, to the wedding planner, to the wait staff, excellent customer service. The staff set up all our decorations (paper lanterns with battery operated lights in them, strings of party lights and a light curtain. The venue supplied everything from the silverware to the linens (lots of choices). The upstairs, dedicated for the bride and her party was fabulous. Could not have been a better experience. I highly recommend the spot for a wedding or special event.
The passed appetizers were fantastic and included many choices. The crudités were attractively displayed. All in all, a wonderful experience

We recently held our wedding (just under 100 guests) at MEC and it was a great experience. We loved that the venue had a beautiful outdoor space for the ceremony and just footsteps away was the reception area. The deck at MEC is perfect for cocktail hour and couldn’t have a better back drop than the harbor. It was fairly cool in the evening but the heaters made it comfortable for guests. The cost was affordable compared to many other venues and the best part was that it is an independent facility, unlike a hotel. Our guests had easy access to parking and we didn’t have to worry about any other people being around.
Kevin helped us every step of the way, from the day we met to look at the venue through the day of the wedding (we worked mostly with Kevin but Melanie was also great). They were very attentive and responsive to email and phone calls and were able to give us food/​beverage options that fit our budget. The MEC banquet staff was also very helpful and the provided good service to our guests. Although they do weddings all the time, they didn’t make us feel like it. We appreciated that they treated our day as if it was as special for them as it was for us.
I am thankful we chose MEC and I can confidently recommend them for your wedding or event.
P. S. If you are still in town the next day I recommend brunch at HMB Brew Co… we got a nice surprise Growler from Melanie on our way out.

Great Venue! My husband and I recently had our wedding there for 85 guests. The ceremony, and reception was hosted by Half Moon Bay Brewing Company.
The ceremony site was gorgeous! The staff at the MEC are supportive, attentive, and flexible. We utilized the upstairs, main dinning, and patio area. There was enough space for everyone, the food was outstanding, and, the service was great. We would highly recommend MEC for any type of event. The view of the harbor is beautiful! Kevin, the event coordinator is timely, and very helpful with planning our event. You will not be disappointed with MEC, it was such a memorable day for us!

The windows throughout along with the deck provide for a stunning view of the bay. In addition, there is an area upstairs cozy enough for those who want to enjoy a little more privacy. The venue is available for private parties around 75 – 100 people.
Parking just may be a bit of a struggle as their lot is a bit small, but it is definitely worth considering having your event here as it is quite romantic and accommodating.
